He is a club legend, who always stepped up in the big games when we needed him, but he left at the right time.

Morons were already criticising him before he left to Sheffield United and got a league winner's medal - even though he was supposedly a garbage "pub" player back then.

He is several years older and that bit closer to retirement, so god only knows what would be said about him if he returned now. Can't see it happening.

Billy Sharp apparently signing last summer - that takes some beating.

The Paudie thing is interesting to me as it shows how we can be a little quick to judge a player. When he came in on loan he was slated on here, then debuted and was absolutely hammered by pretty much everyone. Fast forward a couple of months, gets back in team and is almost immediately given the armband. People on here reckoning he now looks like a player, Bowyer given credit for handling him.
If that's a fair synopsis, maybe we should try to reserve judgement on incoming players until we see how they do over a few games. (Obviously quite a few did and do, but we have quite a few more are happy to slate anything).

Dont think Ismael is a bad signing if we keep scannell tbh but I'm more interested in us building a solid defence after last season's horror show of defending. You can always have flare players who are inconsistent in your team as long as the spine of the team is strong, that is the most important thing to address this window

Does anyone know if it got decided who’s better out of Doyle and Hanson? All this transfer nonsense cut it short.

Assessing signings is an impossible task as
however well or badly thought of by previous
clubs fans,we never know until they play for
us and see how they fit in.

The difference with this summer window and
last summer is we have,in my opinion,a manager
who knows what he's doing and I'm hopeful he
Will build a "team" so there is room for optomism.

Signing Donaldson and possibly Vaughan, means I
believe,he's looking for nous in a player.Clever and
able to read the game quicker but I also think we need
one maybe two creative midfielders to go with our
wingers and if they all stay,we should score some goals!

I am hoping that Doyle stays. I think their is a split opinion on him with some labelling him lazy and others saying not. Given that last season's squad appears to have been littered with players with a bad attitude or approach it is difficult from the outside to say who were the real culprits (although again we all have our own opinions). I would personally like to see him partnered with more of a target man to play off before deciding he is useless.

Paudie O'Connor today. GB doing a good job of selling the club despite its position.

Sorry to break the drama with Transfer Rumour stuff.....

Hopefully this means the Vaughan 'done deal' rumour is correct. We're also in talks with a Left Winger who'd be a great addition - but that's far from a done deal and he's in demand.

Left Winger and Centre Mid next, I reckon.

speaking of Alan Nixon, he's giving it the smug as you like "aye" quote tweeting the Vaughan announcement.

he can't be serious, he was about 2 weeks late in reporting it, and told us he was going elsewhere about 2 days ago.

Come on folks, don't be falling soft, theses players are why we finished rock bottom of a fairly average league one.
They've no bottle, backbone or leadership.
Their couldn't care less attitude needs to be as far away from the new lads as possible.
No if's, buts or maybe's, this lot shat in the same pot, now they can go crap in another poor clubs pot !!

Akpan played like a man possessed against his old team last year at Burton. Tackled everything, ran all over to be available and dictate play, attacked every corner, scored eventually (I think) and covered every blade of grass. Clearly it was a bit of an eff you to them for letting him go. The rest of his performances were a bit of an eff you to us because he never replicated that form. If he did that every week he'd be like Gary Jones because that's how much he put into every single game.

Jesus are we going to have to read through page after page about ODonnell yet again ? It’s been done to death , go back about 20 or 30 pages and just read it again instead of brining it up.

We got a fee for Dominic Poleon though. After that, pretty much anything is possible.

    Good.

I'd like to have kept him but we've too many weaknesses in midfield so if moving him out means we can plug a gap there then I think it's a good sacrifice.

(Cue a long term injury to one of our strikers the minute he leaves).

    I thought this myself.

I have very little sympathy for Bolton fans, they have shown very little humility over the last few years despite the unfair financial practices of their owners and the good job that Parkinson has done by getting them back to the Championship. We have suffered for our administrations, it's time for them to suffer too.
