Obviously not even worth 10% of that but I stick to my point that his arrival transformed the effort and form of Robbie Blake who Jagger openly admits is the most skilful player he has ever managed. Blake's performances that season were a big factor in our promo. Without him and Beags, Mills never replicated his goal tally of that season.

    Swindon Town Boss quote today.
“We want to try and get the balance right – we’re close with a couple of experienced players; one is 26, one is 31.
Eoin Doyle is 31 got to be him.

If Vaughan comes in, fair enough for me.

The promise of goals from Doyle doesn't quite tally with his lazy, nonchalant performances last season, and if Vaughan signs he's a better, younger replacement.

Maybe it will be a deal with a low basic but lots of incentives ie goal bonus. He may cost a lot but with the advantage of if he does he will bagged a lot of goals and we will have got promoted. Win win

I don’t think Doyle was lazy at all. He was asked to do a job he wasn’t suited to. His best performances have been alongside a big forward he is a penalty box player. He isn’t strong enough to bounce of big centre halves

What was he good at last season Park? That's a genuine question as I couldn't tell you one thing he had as a standout attribute or even did well

Think it might be more the case of us making sure we have secured Doyle's replacement before letting him go.

Wondering about the Doyle Swindon link, doesn't Jewell have some sort of role at Swindon?

Doyle wasn't lazy at all. That's just a fallacy aimed at him because he (and the whole team) were massively below par all season.

    Nope.

It's an observation made when he did the bare minimum.

I swear sometimes he only ran at players when he knew he couldn't get there in time.

I am hoping that Doyle stays. I think their is a split opinion on him with some labelling him lazy and others saying not. Given that last season's squad appears to have been littered with players with a bad attitude or approach it is difficult from the outside to say who were the real culprits (although again we all have our own opinions). I would personally like to see him partnered with more of a target man to play off before deciding he is useless.

We never saw the best of him he was played as target man chasing all over the place. I think he would score goals playing of a targetman

Didn't see that once and I even remember Hopkin praising his work rate after some games.

Just my twopenneth - I dont have a problem with Doyle's workrate but I think the split opinion on that topic stems from how badly he was used. Hes anything but a target man, but was often used as such. Its no wonder that he toiled and looked frustrated when he was deployed so ineffectively and I think some mistook the fact that he was so often on the fringes of games as a sign of not being arsed rather than not being used properly. I hope he stays. In a balanced side I think he'd do well.

Genuinely think he conned a few with his faux effort.

Then again, some thought Baz Conlon worked hard too.
