So after calling Boywer a "dire manager" and "totally clueless" you now think he's a few additions away from taking us up as league champions?

Blood pressure went through the roof whenever Donaldson or Vaughan went down knowing Patrick was the only forward on the bench.

I think there are a few *fans* on here who would rather be right than see us do well. They made their minds up when we lost our first game that Bowyer should go and are so desperate for that to happen just so they get the opportunity to say 'told you so'.

 

One things for sure, we wont lose tonight!!

 

I like Bowyer.

But Jermaine Anderson is absolutely dog shit and I’ll struggle to back anyone who wants to keep playing him

 

I think there was a lot of expectation and quite rightly so, we are judged as a big fish in a small pond and with that comes a degree of pressure not associated with other sides in the division. Also before this game many a poster commneted on their percieved weaknesses of this side and those thoughts were echoed in todays performance. Its clealry the first game of the season and very early days regarding this team yet ifs fair to pass comment on todays game in isolation. Positives, the centre backs looked solid, quite the opposite of last season, the two strikers if they stay fit will cause problems for any team. The negatives, that midfield is a mess, we knew it would be and if not strengthen is a cause for concern. And we need back up for Vaughan and Donaldson, one of them gets injured we are screwed.

 

It's irrelevant whether he came to keep us up or not. His track record is pretty irrelevant as well and what's happening at Huddersfield is definitely irrelevant. Fact is this thread would still have been here whatever the manager. It's a fordy thing. There was one for the last manager and they'll be one for the next. There is no manager in the land capable of managing Bradford City in his eyes. It's surprising just how many clueless manager we have in this country and disappointing that so many of them seem to end up here.

 

Bowyer is bringing all this on himself for absolutely no reason. Playing this system with the players we have is utter nonsense, I've not seen or heard one person say that its even remotely working, because it isn't.

If you want to play 433 or the diamond then go out and buy a LW and DM. Otherwise play 442.

 

I like your optimism! Especially when:
We've got a crap defence, a non existent midfield, a diamond who doesn't shine, high earners not performing and can't find a buyer for them, two players who have gone missing due to mystery illnesses, a player that can't play due to a court case hanging over his head, and a manager with a 14% win percentage leading them all. Add to that a Chairman with short arms and deep pockets, a deficit that needs paying off due to last seasons gross mismanagement, and a 2 million windfall not mentioned by the club.

We'll turn it around in the next three games!

 

What we don't know is whether Rupp and Rhodes are expecting an immediate return to L1. Of course, as fans, we all want that. But it may be that Bowyer has told them that he doesn't think it's possible with the dead wood we still have hanging around our squad. If the club's realistic target this season is to stop the slide and consolidate in mid table, until they can ship out the wasters and bring new players in, then two points from the first two games probably seems like a solid enough start to them.

If the club is playing a longer game it might explain why Bowyer is making some decisions that we don't understand - ie getting the players he wants to keep used to the system he intends to play once he can get more of his own choices in.

I may be clutching at straws here!

 

We can always look back over history to our successful managers like Jewell and PP for inspiration, managers who have had slow starts but in given time have delivered beyond our wildest dreams.
On the flip side there have also been managers who have been given too much time which has led us to sink to our lowest points for many years.
If we see an improvement and a change in personnel over the next few games then i will give Bowyer the benefit of the doubt and have faith in him, but if he remains stubborn, choosing to stick with the same failing players whilst not getting any kind of response then serious doubts will come in.

 

I get the idea of having a long term plan, its something hasn't had since the Richmond days, but surely we can put together a decent enough side to get out of this god forsaken division at the first go. If you had told me the club were planning for two years and were expecting consolidation in the first year of that i'd have gone and done something else for 12 months.

He's signed 14 players, if we don't have a decent midfield two to play then whose fault is that?

 

Ismail responsible for the goal all day long but as has been said, Cooke allowed us to dominate the midfield much more effectively, which allowed us to play ismail in so many times. Cooke has to start ahead of Devine for me now.

 

Just a reminder for those calling for Bower's head that out of the 4 teams relegated last season, we are currently placed highest in League 2. Yes we would all like to be even higher, but we are only 3 points off third place not languishing somewhere near the bottom. Lots of people were predicting Plymouth would be runaway leaders at the start of the season but it hasn't happened and they lost again last night, but I bet their fans aren't shouting for Lowe to be sacked.

 

You can't judge him after the 1st game of the season some massive over reactions. If we're still looking like that after 10 games then I'll be worried
