You’ve criticised those that aren’t happy with today and tried to put ‘spin’ on positives, such as keeping a clean sheet and picking up a frickin point....!

Moeen Ali would have been proud of your ‘delivery’....!

Sorry but this is nonsense Cougars where has he said he’s happy. If people gave more constructive criticism instead of just saying we’re shite, and multiple threads saying when do we question Bowyer and he has no idea then I’m sure he wouldn’t have made the comment that I happen to 100% agree with. Happy clapper I am not, someone with a brain and a bit of perspective after one game however...

So, responding to a post or posts that said we were crap (and TBF we were), by saying we picked up a point at home (against a team that will do well to stay up) and kept a clean sheet (against a team playing with 10men for 30mins and took a striker off), isn’t “happy clapping”?

I’m all for him adding positivity but not when he criticised the comments about us being poor before adding his bluster

Looking for an argument, I criticised those that are questioning the manager after a game. You should know that football games aren't won and lost on the first game of the season.

I agree we should have done better, but I don't agree with the absolute melt down on the first game of the season. I think as we go through the season we'll turn the gears.

Yet he never mentioned being happy, just pointed out a few positives in the doom and gloom. So no that isn’t happy clapping, someone with a brain has the ability to look at both positives and negatives it’s analysing. The best business men do it, and university students are required to do it. It’s fine being critical but at least don’t sound like a moaning baby about it, not aimed at you btw.

Regarding Cambridge lucky to stay up is ott imo, they’ve brought in a highly rated coach who’s worked on making them hard to beat which was a big reason they were near the bottom last season, similar to Forest Green the season before they got into the playoffs. Think they’ll be mid table, there’s such a big player turn around at this level I don’t know how anyone can make such bold claims on where a team will end judging on last season, when players and coaches change so frequently.

I don't think it's s meltdown, its just disappointment, expectation turning to realism. I saw plenty of effort, l saw us physically stronger than the oppo. Vaughan & Clayton know what they are doing. I think we'll do well when the midfield is sorted.

5 is Matt Clarke reincarnated, but not as good.

    Won't miss it though....

I think there was a lot of expectation and quite rightly so, we are judged as a big fish in a small pond and with that comes a degree of pressure not associated with other sides in the division. Also before this game many a poster commneted on their percieved weaknesses of this side and those thoughts were echoed in todays performance. Its clealry the first game of the season and very early days regarding this team yet ifs fair to pass comment on todays game in isolation. Positives, the centre backs looked solid, quite the opposite of last season, the two strikers if they stay fit will cause problems for any team. The negatives, that midfield is a mess, we knew it would be and if not strengthen is a cause for concern. And we need back up for Vaughan and Donaldson, one of them gets injured we are screwed.

Amazing what a difference a summer makes. Last season, Anderson was a lumbering shit house who couldn’t control or pass a football and continually looked like he needed longer studs, but having had a good break and pre season, he looks like a lumbering shit house who couldn’t control or pass a football and continually looks like he needed longer studs,

And as Fordy made clear, his opinion wasn’t based on one game. He saw nothing last season to indicate an upturn in fortunes and saw a performance today that was poor.

Seems you are the one looking for the argument as you told those unhappy with the performance and tactics, to go to watch Leeds.

And then to cite those ‘positives’ were just embarrassing.

Hi Dubois, I had a bit of a rant earlier but more chilled now (so sorry Fordy for saying you were being a dick, seriously I apologies ) Because of the horrendous past couple of years part of the problem is we have become stuck in a negativity cycle of questioning every aspect of the managers abilities, the quality of the players, the commitment of the players and the owners etc - the trust element that is so essential for a happy and ultimately successful club is still broken to a large degree and is going to take time to fix.
In his interview GB also said there is a lot to build on and whilst this could be taken to mean he is pleased I actually take this as a subtle way of saying today wasnt good enough and he knows we have to get better in key areas. But he cant be questioning the effort and commitment of his players on the first day of the season - any man manager or motivator would know the detrimental impact this could have. I also think the effort and commitment aspect can just get mixed up with the basic truth that we do still have some very average players at the club, we all know the names as they are mentioned in nearly every thread! A number of these are on the legacy of longer contracts given by the previous regime or shorter ones by the current one - I am still pretty certain some of these will leave the club in this window or the winter one or be loaned out at some stage (perhaps as part of our bridge building with other local clubs)
I am not a happy clapper (or at least dont think I am o_O) and I do understand the frustrations that are felt after a game like today. I dont agree with some of the player recruitment, the playing systems etc and I also want us to progress as quickly as is possible but I can accept that after all that has gone before it, it is not going to happen overnight. Although GB said it might take at least a couple of windows, my hope is come the end of August we will have made a solid start and some of the team weaknesses will have been addressed so we all have a bit more trust to feel positive about the season ahead

Were my points aimed at Fordy alone? Or were other posts aimed at folk who posted similar?

And yet I’m sure you joined in in the thread about where WE will finish up? But we can’t judge other teams? I was walking up from NP today with some Cambridge fans. They were the ones that told me that they think it will be a struggle. They expected us to stuff them today.

You’re right, everyone with a brain can see positives and negatives, yet BB only saw the positives and criticised those for being negative. Works both ways.

Citing a clean sheet against 10men and a team that took off a striker, and picking up a point at home, as positives, is IMO Happy Clapping!!!

You never fail to let us down mate, by the way I'm given to believe Colville is on a week to week contract.

No idea. But I’m not sure what that has to do with anything. Not one person has said today and today alone is a reason for concern. But over the period he has been in charge, some fans aren’t happy with the lack of progression.
