Not being political but your comment about government is total rubbish. Any approach to the virus would have resulted in closed public arena's until at least a vaccine is ready in 2021 ish. I dont expect stadium attendance until 2021 with the resultant loss of income to the club. That's the issue ....

I genuinely fear for a lot of lower league clubs.

I see Carlisle are going part time until October at least. It will be difficult attracting players there at the moment you would think?

I cannot see any fans allowed in until next Spring to be honest

Roll on 2021-2022 season when hopefully a degree of normality has resumed

You can work in an office 40 hours a week, ride on public transport everyday, go for meals and go to the pub but you can’t have 5,000 fans in a 25,000 seater outdoor stadium for 2 hours, with masks on. It absolutely stinks.

Or you can go shooting with 29 other mates no problem at all. I guess it depends if you donate to the tory party or not whether you can do what you want

When I’ve done cup matches with roughly 5,000 and park on Canal Road I honestly barely see a soul on the way and leaving the ground. The scare mongering has really got to some people hasn’t it, the news outlets have a lot to account for along with the totally inept government. There’s been flus a hell of a lot worse than Covid in recent years and we all still went along to VP in our numbers. Infuriating reading some of the posts on here. Sure I’ll come in for some stick with this post but I can’t do with this bedwetter mentality anymore.

The suggestion from the Sports Minister, today, was to support loss of gate income, due to the virus, and not to support overspends.

I think City have made it very easy for me. There will be no desperate rush back to see City clinch promotion in April because, let's face it, the only battle we are likely to be in, come April, is a relegation one.

More likely, City are going to be lower mid-table, making writing off attending any matches this season an easier decision.

I am confident that the vaccines will allow us to go into 2021/22 in a back to normal (or very near normal) position and so, for me, that's when I expect to recommence attending City's matches in person.

In the meantime, I will continue watching via iFollow and maybe dip my toe into live football by attending one or two matches at my local North West Counties team towards the end of this season.

Think I understand more then most after spending the pandemic working in a care home that got hit badly.

I just wanted to watch a football match to escape.
    Sorry this offended you.

As long as London are in tier 3,there is no chance of the North being allowed out of it.

I knew those £20 priority tickets would be good value.
Alternatively just admit the 25 yearers. There’s only 700 of us. We can sit 3 seats apart and setup Facebook live for friends at home

Got to remember your average football fan and common sense can be miles apart. I'll give you an idea what we're up against. My wife works in a supermarket, shes been abused on a daily basis by shoppers, yes shoppers doing their weekly shop because they've been asked to do something as simple as follow a basic set social distancing rules. Yesterday stood at the front door showing customers the routes in and out she was forcibly pushed out of the way because a customer didn't like being told what to do.
And we're talking about trying to police potentially 1000s of fans at a football match. Part of me actually agrees with some of the points you make but it will be along time before you see supporters back at a game, theres too much risk involved.

The problem is that you make a number of assumptions that don't hold water.

Yes, we do accept multiple risks in normal everyday life. But the likelihood and seriousness of most of those risks is low, and we can control many of them by our own behaviour. But with Covid 19 we can't control the risks as efficiently because, a) we don't know who's got it; b) a person who has it often doesn't know they have it and c) we can't control the behaviour of others in crowd situations.

When I go for daily walks around Baildon, there is usually plenty of space, the numbers out and about are low and most people observe social distancing. But even then there are a few idiots who don't. The nearer I walk to Shipley, the more people are around and the greater the number who don't seem to give a toss about the two metre rule. Most, though not all, of these are younger people, who clearly and for good reason don't feel as worried as I, in my 60s, do.

There is a huge generational difference in the risks. Young people, by nature, tend to think and act like they're immortal, as I did. I often see groups of kids out, clearly not from the same household, not observing social distancing. And in this case, for most of them, the risk of suffering serious harm is tiny. But from middle age onwards that risk increases greatly. Is it realistic to expect loads of kids at matches to recognise the risks to their elders and keep their distance at all times? I don't think so. And then add in the older Covidiots who should know better, but don't.

I sit in C block, main stand. I reckon the average age in there is late 40s at least and there are many in their 60s and 70s. I just can't see many being prepared to take the risks that your plan entails.

I recognise what you mean about time and life slipping away. Hopefully I have another 20 years left. Well, I'd rather cower away for the next year if that's what it takes, rather than have what's left taken from me prematurely. Maybe you are younger and don't see it that way but I believe that many will take my viewpoint. Football is important to me, but not as much as life.

I agree. The reality is that this disease is going to be around for at least several months, probably years. The restrictions that have been in place aren’t sustainable over that length of time and increasingly it looks like they’re unnecessary for the vast majority of people.

Fact and context need to take precedence over fear and panic. A good old fashioned ‘keep calm and carry on’. Arm everyone with the facts and lets get the country going again.

I’ve seen a number of people questions whether they’d be comfortable sending their kids back to school yet. I have no problem sending mine back. To date, the total number of Covid related deaths for under 15 year olds in England and Wales is 2. 2. So the odds of my kids contracting and dying from the disease are about 1 in 5 million.

Every year, an average of 33 under 15 year olds are killed by vehicles when travelling as pedestrians.

Just for a bit of context.

The premiership have had it good for years taking huge amounts of money fleecing fans and paying players obscene amounts of money they need to put something back

Cant see anyone disagreeing with that comment, watching Bradford City recently has been anything but fun.

Solution to the social distancing dilemma at Valley Parade , why not start the season with the EFL Trophy matches ? A match against Stoke U23s would guarantee no one would sit anywhere near you.

Does help with a population of 4.7m, with a density of only 46 per square mile compared to the UK with a population of 66.6m and 1010 per square mile...
