I'm a serial hugger at football, i'll hug any man/woman/child/dog when or if we ever score. Social distancing will not work at a sporting event, for me its a non starter.

Simple SB, 'taking the knee' and the 'Black Power Fist' also BLM instead of names on the back of shirts, offends me greatly and has no place in any sport.
The simple 'Keep It Out' situation is ample.
I now refuse to watch, either on TV or live, any type of sport (including football) until this stops.
SKY have lost a customer (and a lot more if what I read is correct) due to this craze.
I just hope that the young kids, who imitate their hero's, don't start doing this in the Junior Leagues, not really understanding what it all means but simply copying them
I have my principles in life and will always, without fear or retribution, stand by them.

On that point I won't make any further comment but of course, will respect others points of view/opinions, should they differ from mine.

Keep well and healthy, BiG (now back in the UK)

    My feelings entirely.
Rick Parry asking for £250M, how much of that is to cover the insane overspend on wages in the Championship?
Personally I'd be happy to see the PL fund L1 & L2 for the equivalent of the respective salary caps. That'd be less than 100M, but would have to be spent on specifics, with an emphasis on development, training, medical facilities etc, and not taken into the owners pockets. I'd even suggest some sort of quarterly audit by an independent commission to ensure it happens.
The Championship can look after themselves.

And just to make sure we do have people in pubs, K/O times for midweek games have been brought forward so everyone can watch them before the pub shuts! You really coudn't make this up

Until the three governing bodies get their heads together and get their act together to come up with a football-wide solution, they make it easy for DCMS to pay lip service to helping the sector.

Yes, things are certainly tight for many clubs, especially in the EFL. But if I was the Govt, I'd be saying you guys take around £2bn of cash from TV companies every season and how you share it out is a matter for yourselves. We the Govt won't be putting taxpayers cash into your industry until you show some willing to sort yourselves out and help each other.

Pleading a special case or worse, holding the beging bowl out, deserves to get short shrift imo.

Let's be blunt, you were saying last night that this suggestion would be presented to the Govt today. It hasn't happened so far and you've jumped in with your size 12s once again.

The fuller picture, and I don't know whether the Times article refers to this, is that the Sport's Technology Group, a Govt body is looking at all sorts of options to get more fans into stadia sooner rather than later. They are looking at how Germany does it; they are looking at a PL proposal for Covid passports; they are looking at how to minimise the no of fans using public transport in getting to games; they are taking advice on how clubs would implement social distancing around the ground. I suspect the 'local fans' suggestion is also within their ToRs. There are lots of things under consideration but that's a far cry from your earlier post.

The German one is an interesting one but not as attractive as some might believe. There is a photo circulating in various media of 11,000 fans at a Dortmund game. Look how the Germans are dealing with it! It sounds fantastic but nobody has yet mentioned that those 11,000 fans are in an 81,000 capacity stadium! In our context, that's around 3,500 fans in VP or about half of what the club were planning. The Germans are looking at using the Dortmund test at other clubs .. but with one major proviso. And that is that the local infection rate has to be no higher than 35/100,000 pop over the previous 7 days before any fans areallowed back in. There are very few areas in the UK which come anywhere close to that level. I think Bradford's as with a large number of other northern urban areas is around the 200 mark.

So let's take a more balanced view without all the hyperbole and without omitting the context of your version of the 'truth'. Despite what you believe and regularly spout, most posters can handle the 'truth'. It's more that your version of the 'truth' is a little different from reality.

How do people who renewed a few months ago get priority over those that paid 20 years ago?

6 months of this shite now, fecking sick of it now. I follow the advice given as much as i can but you could bring the best advice out there and a large section of the public are too thick to even understand it.

I have read it twice and still can’t get my head around it. They were banking on the season ticket holders to pay double even though they should have been able to get to see every home game in some way for 150 quid?
    Talk about backwards.
I’d say stop crying to the press and push a big drive on shirt sales, merchandise on every channel they can. Push the ifollow passes to everyone. Go though the old email list And people might pay for the odd game. Let’s think outside the box a little and plug as much of this gap as we can

Taxpayer money should not be squandered bailing out the unsustainable football model we have in this country.

Time for a long overdue realignment of the game.

I've never heard anybody on here 'carping' about or criticising Oli McBurnie. The almost £3m the club is receiving from Swansea from Oli's sell-on fee will be coming in very useful in these difficult times. The vast majority of fans would rightly acknowledge how important that money has been. ;)

I wasn't going to come back on here after the abuse the other day but this is non-controversial. Very funny, Broncs. So funny my wife told me if that was your view I could make my own lunch!!

It's the passing onto older loved ones that's the dilemma. I wouldn't want that on my conscious. Stopping seeing older relatives or stopping going to the game, until such time as it's considered no longer a risk? I know which I'd choose.

I wouldn't sit on a crowded beach like that even if there hadn't been a pandemic

My idea of hell, would rather sit in the comfort of my back garden with a cool beer straight from fridge
