I agree. The reality is that this disease is going to be around for at least several months, probably years. The restrictions that have been in place aren’t sustainable over that length of time and increasingly it looks like they’re unnecessary for the vast majority of people.

Fact and context need to take precedence over fear and panic. A good old fashioned ‘keep calm and carry on’. Arm everyone with the facts and lets get the country going again.

I’ve seen a number of people questions whether they’d be comfortable sending their kids back to school yet. I have no problem sending mine back. To date, the total number of Covid related deaths for under 15 year olds in England and Wales is 2. 2. So the odds of my kids contracting and dying from the disease are about 1 in 5 million.

Every year, an average of 33 under 15 year olds are killed by vehicles when travelling as pedestrians.

Just for a bit of context.

    Well said.

I don't see the problem with sending kids to school. When you look at the stats kids are are extremely highly unlikely to die from this virus and then most parents will be under 50 who again are extremely unlikely to die from this virus.

We need to start getting back to some normality . It's the 2m social distancing thing that's freaking people out.

Not saying it's the flu or a cold but we don't have to social distance with a flu which does kill people.

"Keep Calm and carry on " - like that! Everyone knows what's what and we should just try to crack on.

Yes, companies should try to do their best to make people feel safe e.g. Testing, heat testing, masks for those that want them, hand wash, deep clean their places but let's not start making places like we live in the ghetto

Social distancing isn't going to work in places like India and I am not sure how long it will last here. It's certainly not happening when you go into supermarkets.

At the start of all this it was the right thing to implement a lockdown, since then we’ve learnt that it’s not *that* bad if you’re healthy and under 70, IMO we can’t keep locked down, socially, economically and for our mental health, forever. We need to crack on. It’s not Ebola or Small Pox.

Lol, Well I’ll say if league 2 doesn’t start in August / September this year then we’d all better find another hobby for Saturday afternoons because we won’t have a football club.

And.......the ground needs to have fans in it albeit just a few thousand.

It's the passing onto older loved ones that's the dilemma. I wouldn't want that on my conscious. Stopping seeing older relatives or stopping going to the game, until such time as it's considered no longer a risk? I know which I'd choose.

I think you’re right. And whilst I wont hold my breath, I’m hoping this whole debacle reawakens the game to how important the fans are. Especially at the highest level - i think the game in the lower leagues is more in touch with its roots and supporters.

Problem is the media have whipped the public into such a frenzy at the mere mention of the word 'lockdown' that any mention of lifting of restrictions is met with howls of derision. Lord help you if stifle a cough in a public place or sit down on a patch of grass in a park, you're a potential murderer to the fear crazed.

The way the bottom 6 are acting in the PL it won't mate. It's all about the tv money for them.

The lower leagues are more dependent on fans but lack data and marketing knowledge when it comes to their fan base. It's just about getting the numbers in. It's ok getting numbers in but you need to know your audience and I question if many lower league do.

Over the mid to longer term though, the TV money is based on mass audience attraction in the game. Without the fans, the game dies away, and the cash cow starts to dry up.

Does it? PL 1 and PL 2 or European super league with all 3pm kick offs shown live via tv or online. Yes we all want fans back and fans add to the atmosphere.

Think yesterday's viewing of the German league bcd highlights how it can work and benefit tv companies.

I just think lower league clubs are f@cked... doomed. No model in today's world works for them. BCD for div 2 isn't going to work.

Yesterdays highlights? It was utterly pointless without fans there. I get why they are doing it for the short term but if one good comes out of this for football is the fact its the fans that matter more than anything. More than your players, your football ruining TV companies, your billionaire owners. Sod the lot of them. Its the likes of us, the guys that turn up to watch, those that follow who are unfortunate enough not to be able to attend for reasons unknown. Without us turning up there is no game, all we saw yesterday were games with about as much meaning as a five a side kickabout with your mates.

Yes football needs fans.. all sport does but it's highly unlikely fans will be back next season.

Then why bother??? That’d be like Ed Sheeran doing a concert at Wembley with no fans. Absolutely pointless!!
For me it’s either continue as normal with full stadiums or scrap football until we can !

And in the meantime where do clubs find the money to pay rent? Or to pay their employees? Because no football completely means no TV money, no sponsorship money and no prize money, in which case, most clubs will go out of business.

And this is why we need to stop messing about... straight talking. No over 70's at events. If clubs like Bradford City want to accept them then it's their responsibility to make sure everything is in place to protect them.

We either let people decide how they want to live life or we protect. Both is impossible to happen unless we produce a vaccine.
