He's as effective as Doyle was because we're using him in the same way. We could have played Messi up front in this system and he'd look like a carthorse.

You can lead the line without the need to be used as a battering ram. Bowyer needs to wake up and see that we are wasting the talent of another good striker on our books. People get hung up on needing a target man. They have been left behind 20 years ago. How many teams now play without a target man. Must be 90%. We are just the unlucky ones who have a manager who still plays percentage football. Look at the team at the top of the table. Two lads no bigger than 5"10. Don't see Doyle getting long balls pumped to him. They play through the lines and slide him in with through balls or low crosses. Be interested to see his assist stats as well. Doesn't seem to be involved in the play at all when you see the highlights. Just because Vaughan is a physical striker doesn't mean he should be used the way he is. Bowyer not getting the best out of another talented player.

We'd love the countries leading goalscorer back, but he would probably lose the will to live feeding off BowyerS boring bland football. For his sake your club needs to pull out all the stops to keep him.

It’s not difficult to understand why. You wanted his wages off the books and he wasn’t wanted.

Nobody knew he’d hit the amount of goals he has. It’s just one of those decisions that’s come back to bite you on the arse.

If he’d only scored, say, 8 goals there wouldn’t be any discussion at all. It’s because his goal scoring has gone national/international that it’s now made you look a bit foolish.

Easy to be wise after the event. At the time everybody was happy about his loan.

Blimey, you reckon a club can get promoted by end of March?

I have no problem with you thinking my opinions are a pile of dung, but I am most definitely not laughing at your club or any poster on here.

Some right muppets on here, The player was messed about by Bradford City, he was slagged by the fans, the club seem to try ruin many careers of strikers, its been seen many times before where some of our strikers have moved to other clubs and re- found their form.

Doyle's gone. He's not coming back. Its an embarrassment but we need to man up and stop crying over the ex who's gone on to better things. We need to show some ambition and go add the 2-3 quality players that will make the difference. Because I really dont have the patience for any more than 1 season in this shit hole.

Are folk still in denial and actually arguing whether Doyle returning is a good thing?

Our shower of shite couldn't finish their dinner.

Bollocks to the money, bollocks to Swindon and bollocks to what Doyle wants. We pay his wages and he is the best striker in this division.

    We own him.

Time to play hardball. How much is promotion worth to Swindon? At what selling price do Swindon pull out? It would be a brave chairman that looks at it and says, Bradford can keep him, we're not paying 100K for a player in the last 6 months of his contract. In fact (if a deal hasn't already been struck, and I think one has), we should up the price at least another 50K. If they say no, we get back the most prolific striker in the league, Swindon have their promotion charge weakened. Go on, do it, you know it makes sense. Tell 'em Fordy.

That is the best scenario I agree. I remember exactly how he played and also the team he was in and also under various different managers.

This season is a different team just about. I don't see him coming back and carrying on scoring like he has been but its got to be worth a go or should have been worth a go. The amount of formation changes we've had could/should have been done with him involved. Once he got to 10/12 goals you would have thought we'd have said hold on this is our player that's scoring for fun lets recall him and try play to his game to benefit from his goals - clean slate, lets try again to fit you in.

Doyle is a poacher who thrives off service, if we can't get the best out of him due to the way we play then the chances of us being able to accommodate another renowned goalscorer in the same mould are slim at best.

The formula with Doyle is simple-.give him chances and he'll score. If we are incapable of doing so then which striker we sign almost becomes irrelevant and reflects poorly on the club.

The difference in the Vaughan analogy is that Vaughan is actually our player, not a loanee. Technically we own both players but are paying one to send a rival to the top of the league. Doesn't sit well with me that's all. Of course you think it's best for it to stay as it is.

We have 7 games in January. For me we should recall Doyle and play him against Morecambe, Swindon & Crawley. If nothing has changed and we are still not a fit for each other, then look to strike a deal with Swindon before the end of January.

Playing loafs out of position is Bowyer's bread and butter.

I've revised what I'd be expecting as a fee for the country's leading goalscorer now it would be 500k thanks very much.

Taking from what i've read before and what i've seen they use Doyle primarily as a finisher ( seems obvious doesn't it). They are the polar opposite to us in terms of how they use him and we use Vaughan. They are more attack minded whereas we build our league position on our successful defensive set up. The Swindon fan who posted about Doyles attributes was right, outside the box he offers very little, he ain't quick or physical and his long range shooting isn't anything to write home about. I see what they mean about not being one man team, the chances created for him are plentiful and of good quality.
Problem if Doyle did come back is we just don't play that way. As we set up neither of us are good for each other, Bowyer would have to change his mindset to accommodate him.

Think you need a lie down, Fordy.

Doyle is your player. If you want to recall him there is no need to discuss anything. He does as he’s told, we have no say in things either. Easy peasy.

No need for abuse, tbf. We’re guests on here. Fordy is entitled to his opinion as we are.

Be bloody glad when this soap opera has run its course.

Fordy, i really hope for your sake you aren't on the end of a big defeat tomorrow. Whilst 99% of Bradford fans on here have contributed well back and forth with us Swindon lot, you have been needlessly aggressive and dismissive towards us. Lots of remarks like 'Enjoy the playoffs' and 'Can't wait until we beat you'. Just comes across a bit childish.
