Oh @Fordy117@Fordy117 is aggressive to everybody (except the vertically challenged) but his heart is in the right place, not so sure about his brain though. Seriously though, he is forward with his opinions, some of which make sense, some of which don't, a bit like all of us I suppose. Put it this way, I'd be happy to have a pint with him next time I'm over but he's buying, makes Warren Buffet look like a pauper.

Just watched the highlights from the Swindon Plymouth game, Doyle had at least four decent chances to score whereas Vaughan is lucky if he gets one a game. His goals will definitely dry up if he has to come back.

Be interesting to know how Doyle has been supplied for his goals this season.

Service from wingers, service from creative central midfield players, good link up play with Yates, goals created by himself from nothing?. Perhaps one of our friends from Swindon could enlighten us

Taking from what i've read before and what i've seen they use Doyle primarily as a finisher ( seems obvious doesn't it). They are the polar opposite to us in terms of how they use him and we use Vaughan. They are more attack minded whereas we build our league position on our successful defensive set up. The Swindon fan who posted about Doyles attributes was right, outside the box he offers very little, he ain't quick or physical and his long range shooting isn't anything to write home about. I see what they mean about not being one man team, the chances created for him are plentiful and of good quality.
Problem if Doyle did come back is we just don't play that way. As we set up neither of us are good for each other, Bowyer would have to change his mindset to accommodate him.

Simon Parker reports today that City appear likely to recall Doyle, if thats possible. Not sure what 'if thats possible' means, finances perhaps?, or making sure Doyle would be happy to comply?. Interestingly, Doyle and his family are settles in the North West, maybe he doesnt fancy a permanent move to Swindon, maybe he will want to keep his options open in the summer. If thats the case, we should recall him, keeping him there on loan would not benefit us at all

Yeah it would force Bowyer to go attack minded. You cannot play Doyle and not be attack minded, otherwise whats the point in picking him. Bringing him back sees the end of boring football, happy days.

Vaughan has more efforts than people think, but his are snatches or flicked headers at best. Very rare we can create him a 1 on 1, unless it's a penalty.

So far this season... stats actually show Vaughan on average having slightly more shots per game than Doyle. But as stated before, from the vids online of Doyle's goals, they tend to be to feet or they find him in poacher spots around the box. Rare we have JV in similar positions.
ED = 23 goals from 64 shots in 2100 minutes. Shot every 32.81 minutes
JV = 9 goals in 58 shots in 1785 minutes. Shot every 30.78 minutes

Vaughan has to fashion his own chances, i know he missed a sitter a Macclesfield but generally he is feeding off scraps. If you swapped Vaughan for Doyle at Swindon i'd wager he'd have a similar return goal wise. Swindon are a currently a strikers dream for goal bonuses, all their strikers have been on score sheet lately.

I can only think of one goal which came from what you would call a hopeful punt into the box which he headed in. Vast majority are on the deck, incisive passes from within the box or just outside. Don’t think he has created anything himself. He said himself most are tap ins (bit modest, there) and the hard work is done by his teammates. In essence, he needs chances virtually put on a plate for him.

I've been on the fence regards recall/offload etc. But now i firmly believe we should recall, if at all possible. January seems to be a critical month for us over the last few seasons regarding bad run of form and manager dismissals etc and i see this month being no different. We have limped our way through the last several 'easy' fixtures scoring minimal goals but now face our sternest test. Four away games in the next five including league leaders Swindon. Whilst our league position is acceptable, given injuries/illness, i would gladly take a chance on playing Doyle. We have the players that can compliment Doyles style, we just need a manager that can deploy them where necessary. That manager could still be Bowyer.

We used him all last season as a target man, this season as a number 10 before he left us. And we wonder why he didn't score....

Huge difference between last and this season. He was only used as a 10 to get him into the team before he left. Now it's a different story - one of Vaughan or Donaldson should be left on the bench to accomodate Doyle - for me its that simple.

You do realise we have to go on the attack to get them both in.

Donaldson still way off a return and not match fit.
Vaughan one booking off a two game ban.
If not Doyle then who's going to be our main strike duo?
Oteh and Connolly some how I don't think that pairing will get the goals to consolidate our league position.
Work to be done in the transfer window that's for sure.

Not sure about Doyle. We are desperately short of a tall physical forward who is decent in the air winning balls and holding up play, If we can afford both then fair enough but if not then a big forward would suit our play more

The more I read what Parker is saying about the situation the more I am convinced he's coming back.

@Swindon@Swindon coming on here dropping bits but fails to tell everyone that Jewell has say they is nothing that they can do about the situation.

Bowyer has said he's in contact with Doyle often and have said along that Bowyer never ever want Doyle to leave.

Donaldson is still out, Vaughan is close to a two match ban and the leading goalscorer in the land belongs to us.

Also, Doyle lives in the North West(Liverpool I believe) and wants a new house up there. Footballers do move about but I doubt he will be in any rush to sign for Swindon full time. A northern club will come in for him.

So @Swindon@Swindon @Swindon_1969@Swindon_1969 looks like he's coming back to us.. enjoy the play offs!
