Sending Oteh and Palmer back (now Reeves is fully fit he's surplus imo) plus keeping Patrick on loan at Wrexham would surely cover Swindons wage contribution for Doyle?

Isn't it a complete no brainer? If not then I'm seriously struggling to see why not.

If, however, we could get a decent fee for Doyle then I might change my mindset but for him to stay on loan just makes no sense whatsoever.

 

Unless (and I know this seems unfathomable to those that see the mystical "presence" as the only way to win a football match) we pass it on the floor?

I don't even think we need to send Palmer back to back(even though I would) but I feel Cooke might go back and we will be looking to get rid for McCartan, Devine, Anderson and Akpan.

It's 6 months and I am sure we can cover his wages for 6 months. We have had most of his wages covered for the last 6 months already.

 

We need to be able to do both, We need to be equipped to change to circumstances especially at lower levels of the EFL

As I understand it the latest on Eoin Doyle saga, a deal has been agreed between BCFC & Swindon Town, the only thing outstanding is the personal terms of the player with Swindon Town, hopefully resolved by Monday of next week, as the saying goes watch this space

 

Our midfield doesn't play the ball forward, it plays the ball sideways and backwards.

That's why our defence is forced to play long.

The lack of responsibility shown by Reeves, Cooke and Palmer in terms of trying to create opportunities for Vaughan and Oteh is why 'playing the ball on the ground' isn't something we're particularly great at.

If we were playing Ismail and Connolly week in, week out, and they were able to cause the sorts of problems Swindon's wingers cause, then maybe.

But Bowyer prefers long balls, deep crosses, and the aerial bombardment route mixed with the pace of Connolly.

Playing our current tactics, we would be naive not to sign a striker who can hold the ball up. 'Presence' might be a running joke to some, but looking at our tactics pragmatically, it's going to be key. Donaldson is the man, but we need back up as we've seen over this recent run without him.

 

The way we set up we can't play Ismail and Connolly, and you can't play Reeves, Cooke and Palmer together as they are all essentially the same, it was painful watching Reeves and Palmer take each others space against Morecambe, like their laces were tied together. If we play Connolly and Ismail then its Reeves and Taylor or Cooke for me and they need to move the ball far quicker than what we currently do. Your right that Donaldson is key to Bowyers preferred 5 at the back.

 

100% agree, central mid is too packed with much of a muchness and those players end up hindering rather than complimenting each other.

I am not saying he is coming here but a few things i will say in response to a few points i have seen is that i do genuinely think personal circumstances could come into play here. As much as us fans(both sides) like to think the clubs have the upper hand the fact is it will come down to the player in my opinion anyway. If he has made it clear he wants to stay, has publicly said he doesn't think he will score goals the way bradford play then i honestly think that these things will come in to play.

Add this to the fact at Swindon he trains only 3 days a week i just think these things may make a difference

Again i am not saying these as facts and after writing all that he will probably end up going back to you but just a few things i think may make the difference

I would make the announcement about his return to City about an hour before kick off tomorrow just to upset the Swindon players before the game.

 

We couldn’t get the best of him first time around, what makes anyone think Bowyer will if he gets recalled? Is he going to change tactics just to accommodate one returning player? I know in an ideal world, you’d take him back just like that. It’s a bitter pill to swallow for those that saw fit to ship him out in the first place, and would Doyle be happy? Could it have a disruptive impact on the other players? It seems a no brainer to get him back, but when do things ever work out that simply?

 

How didn't we get the best out of him last time? This is utter nonsense!

You do realise that he was our leading goalscorer last season?

You do realise he scored 11 goals last season for us?

You do realise the leading goalscorer in div 1 only scored 25 goals.

You do realise he played under 4 different managers, club in a mess, fighting the drop and still scored 11 goals.
