Hi guys. It is certainly an interesting few weeks coming up and i think the noises coming out seem to indicate he will be coming to us for at least the remainder of the season. Ideally for both parties it would a perm deal and then allows you to get him off your wage bill.
Sometimes it just doesn't work out for players at clubs i suppose, i remember we had Cureton and he was awful for us but scored everywhere else. I think Doyle just enjoys wellens management . Be nice to see both of us in the top 3 in may and then we can look back at this whole weird scenario and smile
Good luck for the rest of the season and have a great Christmas
All the best

Swindon fan here. I've signed up to give you my opinion on Eoin Doyle.
Let's start with the player. He can't dribble, struggles to hold the ball up, isn't very quick, not great in the air and has a very average passing range. Plenty of times this season, having Doyle in the side is almost like playing with 10 men. What he excels at though, is fantastic off the ball movement and a knack of knowing where the ball will drop. He only needs half a yard, one chance and it's a goal. It's the hardest thing to do in football and it's why strikers cost the most money.
So why does Doyle suit us? I actually think it's pretty simple. We have enough technicians and ball playing defenders to build up play without needing to use Doyle. Lots of strikers at this level need to drop deep as an outlet or run channels to help their team but our style of play means he constantly stay on the shoulder and wait for that one chance. From what i understand, he wouldn't be used in this way at Bradford, unless you completely change your style of play. Wellens knows Doyle better than anybody and what his limitations are. So why try and get him doing things he isn't good at?
You could almost say Doyle is a bit of a luxury player. If he isn't scoring, what else is he contributing? probably not a lot, hence your frustration with him in your relegation season. When you have somebody as prolific as him though, you need to find a way to make it work. In Bowyers defence, it wasn't his signing, and he's obviously got his own way he wants to play. Your fans might not like it, but there's more than one way of getting out of a league. Being hard to beat and not conceding many goals is a decent platform to build on. I think you'll improve going forward and fancy you to finish in the top 4.
In regards to the loan situation, i think it would be a massive risk for you to recall him. He's made it quite clear where he wants to be, and whilst i'm sure he'd behave professionally, what message does it give to the rest of your squad if somebody who doesn't even want to be there is starting ahead of them? Would he even be a success for you? absolutely not, unless you drastically change the way you play. You'd also have to free up a bit of money and it all starts becoming a bit of a mess.
Let's hope one way or another a decision is made after Saturday. I'm actually dreading the game. Your away style is exactly the type we struggle against. Teams that sit deep and are compact give us a lot of trouble. We also have no fit centre backs and a couple of players struggling with fitness. A draw from my perspective wouldn't be the end of the world considering our current situation. How many are you bringing down? hopefully it's a good crowd and decent atmosphere.banbrotam, Neil Smith (Smithy), The Evidence and 5 others like this. -
Bring him back its that simple you can't leave a striker scoring for fun at a promotion rival. He's a Bradford player end of

This is ridiculous. JR and Bowyer not to mention Rupp, have completed discussions on Doyle. He is back at City. We need him to continue his form that he has been in for City. They will have spoken to Swindon many times over the last few weeks, and no doubt have given them a ball park figure without prejudice and they have not agreed to pay that amount. Plus even if they did, we might have said we need him and we are not prepared to leave him on loan.
If this carry’s on much longer they should be reported to the EFL for trying to ‘tap up a player’ this will all settle down once he starts scoring for us. I honestly don’t think we would accept any deal now as it is leaving us short on time to negotiate another striker. They can do the running around on that front. Let’s face if he had flopped, he would be back here in a flash. It’s hard having good loan players in, and being an integral part of the team.Jonny78, The Original EB, FrenchBantam and 5 others like this. -
I’ve a feeling the good times are about to roll again. We’ve got a front two who’ve scored 30 plus already playing in front of a stingy defence. We’ve got one of the quickest players in all the 92 and a left back who can cross. We’re handily placed and the race is on. Odds on our promotion have shortened since Doyle returned. Let the good times roll!!

Seems crazy letting someone go right now who has started every match so far even if he wasn’t popular with fans.

Good riddance. Some fans did what they did with McLean, because he’d done something years ago he must be good.

In terms of timing and it being the day before a match, we could have sold him during most of the games he's played and not noticed so I don't care that it's the day before a game. More likely to be a balanced team without him as he's not a number 10 (or a number 9).

I have brought my mop and bucket to mop up the tears, being female I know my place.
Doyle has not been good enough for our Team, that is the bottom line, no amount of excuses will alter that fact. We needed him last season and this season to be the striker we thought we had bought but he wasn’t. The double edged sword of paying a high price for a player it means that if he doesn’t perform he will go to release funds for players who we do need.

For me though, Vaughan is a much better player than Doyle.
Shouldn't the question be, why is Vaughan not scoring many? Because if he isn't, Doyle won't either.WilsdenBantam, bantamdave41, RCarol and 4 others like this. -
Doyle has to come back. To loan him to a promotion rival is utterly ludicrous.

They either buy him, or we bring him back.
I don't think he'll do the same here, and I think it will be expensive to have him back, but it's pretty obvious we can't continue to part-fund Swindon's promotion push, given how lousy they looked without Doyle at VP.PuNknDiSoRdErLy, boltonroad, WilsdenBantam and 4 others like this. -
