He's being honest, its not like we don't already know what has been said. He's our player but only in terms of a name on a contract, we were happy to let him go so obviously the lad had no future with us, it wasn't like we were loaning out a youngster to get some game time. I though at the time it was the right decision and seeing how we are currently playing i still do.

Our injury list is down to one or two now. Palmer has been on the bench, Devitt and Riley will be back before long. Like you said, we aren't suddenly gonna change our style.

Playing devils advocate a bit here but why would Bowyer change it if we are 5th in the league?

Because, and it's only my opinion, we will miss the playoffs playing the way of the last few weeks. I may well be proved wrong who knows? He might change the style on Saturday, again I don't know.

Because we don't deserve to be 5th. We're in a false position down to luck, own goals, red cards and gifts from the opposition.

The defence has been generally very good but that's not enough to propel you into a top 7 place on it's own.

Home form is much better than away but the stats don’t lie.

We create a decent number of good chances ON AVERAGE relative to the rest of the league.

We are not lucky at all. Our xG stats suggest we deserve to be where we are.

Most of Doyle’s have have been tap ins. Fox in the box goals.

If you wanna talk xG from open play. City are a respectable fourth best on xG from open play ratios (o’haire stats again). Swindon are top of this KPI but, again, City aren’t the dull, life-less bores some have us believe.

Its the division we are in and sign of the times. People need realistic expectations of the club we’ve becomes.

If you are tight at the back you can achieve success, as Parkinson showed. But you must have clinical strikers. 19 goal Doyle has certainly been that this year.

Get Pritchard/Connolly or Ismael firing crosses into the box, causing mayhem and Doyle, in a two with Vaughan, would go mental. He’s not a number 10 to be played behind Vaughan and the Don though as in those first few games

I'm not sure Bowyer was happy to see him go, I do accept he had to go because he was a large wage earner and if Bowyer wanted to make other areas within the squad better then letting Doyle go was possibly the only way he could generate the money.
God help him if we recall him and his goals scoring dries up, will fans blame Bowyer and his formations or will they think Doyle is not putting the effort in.
Interesting when you read the first fell posts who opinions have changed, @Fordy117@Fordy117 being bang on the money .

Hi guys. It is certainly an interesting few weeks coming up and i think the noises coming out seem to indicate he will be coming to us for at least the remainder of the season. Ideally for both parties it would a perm deal and then allows you to get him off your wage bill.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out for players at clubs i suppose, i remember we had Cureton and he was awful for us but scored everywhere else. I think Doyle just enjoys wellens management . Be nice to see both of us in the top 3 in may and then we can look back at this whole weird scenario and smile

Good luck for the rest of the season and have a great Christmas

    All the best

He does go off on one a bit too much but Fordy was right as was the poster below him :D. As we stand at the moment bringing back Doyle won't change a thing, he would not fit into the way we play. Results are good at this moment, but could be better and its the style of our play that holds the most concern. The Christmas period could see us challenging top 3, it could easily see us overtaken by teams below us. And with the way we are playing i couldn't say which way the results will go.

It would be managerial suicide to allow Doyle to leave. You might as well just award Swindon promotion now. If we have any ambition, and desire to challenge in the top three, he comes home.

If he didn't come back who'd have made that call, Bower because he couldn't accommodate him, some will say we can't accommodate Europe's leading scorer, but as manager would Bowyer be happy to play a different formation hoping Doyle fits into it and continues scoring, or would it be Rupp who says he won't finance bringing him back as the money saved on him being loaned out has already been spent on bringing other players into the club.
Logic would say bring him back and if he wasn't scoring at his present rate for us he certainly wouldn't be scoring for Swindon.
On season long loans does anyone know the date we could recall him IE at the start of January or at the end.

Isn't the recall as soon as the January transfer window opens, Dave? ie Jan. 1st?

Answer is easy Dave and entirely down to GB
Play to his strengths and totally change the way we play
    or
    Leave him where he is
Could be a very expensive misfit

I don’t know answer but presume its 1st jan when window opens? Perfect for him to score the winner against them on 4th Jan!

If it goes belly up we could always loan him back out before window shuts (if they haven’t moved on to another target?)

Not sure if it is that easy mate, if Bowyer has players elsewhere targeted that he fancies to strengthen the squad Rupp may say you make the decision Doyle back and we pay all his salary or Doyle stays and you have money to strengthen.

2nd January. The other thing is that in his loan agreement there is only a window of a few days where you have to make up your mind about recalling him. Stops you fannying about til the end of Jan and putting us in the shall we/shan’t we position on whether we need to get another striker in.
