When does Doyle’s contract actually expire with City? Miller had another year left at Middlesbrough so Barnsley were buying him out of that year whereas I thought Doyle was out of contract end of this season

Doyle is out of contract in June but that doesn’t stop us selling him while he is in the goal scoring form of his life.

Why would someone pay to sign him now when they can not play him till next season, alternatively sign him for free in the summer?

I was in the bring him back at all costs camp but the more I see the way we limp forward and are misusing Vaughan, there's no point in us bringing him back unless Bowyer will allow us to attack with more freedom.

    Spot on Bantam2708
Everyone knows Doyle and Vaughan are stand out and too good for this league the problem lies at our club we have never had a manager who has the know how to get the best out of him Unless GB has a complete re think (highly unlikely) Should Doyle be brought (kicking & screaming) back to us he would be a very expensive bench warmer at best we simply don't have the management capable of getting the best out of him or the inclination to use him the way Swindon have

If Doyle and Vaughan were too good for league 2 they would not be in it .Both have played for numerous higher league clubs and have been shipped out from those clubs .Doyle has always scored goals at each club , but i feel there is some thing behind the scenes with the player .

Can't disagree there is something behind the scenes with Doyle
Can't make my mind up whether it's him or the club at fault for not getting the best out of him
Played the right way Vaughan would have more than doubled this seasons goal tally
We need to with respect stop worrying about the likes of Newport FGR Morecambe and play to our strengths

Doyle got 7 goals in a dreadful relegation team often played out of position, It is no surprise he has over doubled that count a division lower with a manager who knows how he plays,

It is a surprise, a pretty big one after his 'performances' last year.

    He was genuinely awful.

Rubbish, He got 7 league goals (11 including cup games ) as a lone forward played out of position in one of the worst City teams in modern times,

That's a poor return, and no surprise given his performances.

He's a lone forward now, but suddenly he's not out of position. Wellens must be magic.

It may be a poor return in your eyes but he was still top scorer by a mile in a division above, He does not play as a lone striker at Swindon he plays off the ball winner and as a fox in the box like he has his whole career before coming here,

We can only sell him to Swindon. And Doyle could wait 6 months for a nice signing on fee.

After watching every game this season, I’d have to say the majority of Doyle’s goals come from ‘passes’ in the box rather than crosses. We work the ball well at times outside the opponents penalty area and try for the killer pass.

I can only think of a couple times he has scored from a traditional, head height cross.

And, btw, he is working his nuts off without the ball.

He worked hard when he was here too, but some people strangely chose to ignore that

Its like anything else @bantam2708@bantam2708 once you give your opinion you have to back it up and as you say the easiest way is to say, he was lazy, or couldn't be arsed etc.
He possibly could have done better goal wise but for a player who thrives (as he is now showing) on balls in the box not crosses as that is hardly his strong point did OK in a very poor side.
I just hope if we do bring him back he continues to score because if he doesn't God help the guy.
Will the club just end his loan agreement and bring him back or will we tell Swindon they have to contrbute more to a player who looks as if he is virtually single handedly firing Swindon to promotion.

He did while he was here and consecutive managers even referred to it in post match interviews.

Don't take any notice of @JonButterfield@JonButterfield, it's just another one in his long line of ridiculous statements. He'll be back in 5 minutes though throwing in a few big words and an "alternative" view trying to look knowledgeable.

Sorry it took so long ;)

Doyle's workrate that was praised by 'consecutive managers' is a little like Wood being overlooked by consecutive managers (remember Chicksen and Woods?) and Akpan getting praise from all three managers last season despite being absolutely dreadful throughout the campaign.

I'm pretty sure you thought Wood was the bees knees and needed more game time, and Akpan was dire?

Yet if consecutive managers can get things 'wrong' in public...?

You probably have to look to yourself here for consistency - do I take everything consecutive managers take seriously, or were the occasional comments directed at Doyle not really entirely representative of what we saw on the field of play...?

If he IS working his nuts off for Swindon, it's probably because he's enjoying himself and full of confidence. But of course, he worked like Superman while he was here, too, according to you, so who can really fathom what went wrong? I know, must have been everybody else, right?

    Yep, didn't let me down.

Even using capitals to accentuate that, even though the Swindon fan told you he was working hard, you still don't believe it.

Still, at least you called the Connor Wood situation right. That lad is DEFINITELY not a left back :joy::joy::joy:
