Another difference between the Parky-McCall handover, and where we are now, is the quality of players that came into the squad.
I know Vuckic didn't add much (although he has progressed) and Marc McNulty didn't get going, but the rest were very solid, experienced footballers along with one highly talented youngster.
Compare that level of recruitment, albeit in league one, with where our current crop of players were recruited from.
Whoever was in charge of recruitment at that point in time knew what they were doing. Or they were lucky. I tend towards the former. Partly because there was a degree of vision in the recruitment, although this can be seen with the luxury of hindsight.
DA, or whoever else manages us in the current regime, is not going to get anywhere close to that kind of quality relative to League Two football. I would argue we lacked a vision in the handover to DA. Hence no one seems to know, or want to admit publicly, who was responsible for recruitment in the Summer.
I'm really frustrated with the club, because yet again we are scratting around, looking clueless, in the lower reaches of division 2. That was completely avoidable.
But, right now, we feel a long way away from even challenging in this division. It isn't just the poor run, it is seeing the team crumble within a match. It is seeing other managers make tactical changes in a game, that we seem unable to counter.
The footballing mindset in the club appears broken. It is going to be very hard to change this if we are trying to do this within a break-even/self-funding model. From a business perspective, that makes sense. However, there will always be clubs who, at a point in time, that have a bit of money and, it appears, a vision that surpasses ours. It will take a lot of luck for us to outperform those over the course of 46 matches, with our current structure and ownership.

We all know that stability is important but, in any business, if you've made a mistake, the quicker that you identify and remedy it, the sooner you move forward.

Apparently, Barrow had to play a make shift defence yesterday due to injuries, and none of the back four had ever played together before. That we weren't able to capitalise on that is nothing short of criminal.borderlescott, Budgie, YungNath and 6 others like this. -

Sparks paid compensation to Morecambe for his services and awarded him a 3 year contract. I doubt Sparks or Rupp will be comfortable with sacking him and starting over again so soon.
We need to show patience with Adams. I never believed he would turn us around so soon given the squad he inherited, but I do believe he will turn it around. May take another couple of windows including this coming January one though.
Look at how long it took Parky for example.
Adams is clearly a winner and he will succeed here in my opinionInspector, Petrov, WilsdenBantam and 6 others like this. -
Say we were to sack Adams. Where do we go from there? He just joins a growing list of managers sacked. I'm definitely not his biggest fan but we've tried sacking managers before and it hasn't worked. Adams is a manager that has had recent success at this level. Our problems are higher up than Adams. We have been run poorly for far too long. The majority of the problems we have are with rupp and sparks. Although Adams is definitely not blameless. Recent history has shown that sacking the manager is usually just a kop out and doesn't fix the problems we have.

Wonder how many of the Folk who wanted Adams probably said the same regarding Parky ????
Adams has raked in 23 points from his 1st 19 games
Parkinson pulled in 21 points from his first 19
the common factor is both managers are trying to get out of mess created by others
is Adams now a bad manager considering his record before he came here ????
Get him out all you want but nothing will change a new man may get a tune for a few weeks but it will revert back to the crap we have had to put up for years ................I would give him till at least this time next year if we are in the same boat then he is accountable and the Turnbull factor would be completely out of the window ............... frankly until somebody from the club can confirm what role Turnbull really played then in a nutshell your all guessing at itsimons (woking bantam), WilsdenBantam, Briggus and 5 others like this. -

Another day wasted, £100 wasted on tickets, food, petrol. City players couldn’t give a feck, Sparks doesn’t give a feck, Adams is just a boring feck. Yep I’m fecked off.

Only heard half of Adams post match interview and not for the first time hangs a young lad out to dry publicly for a mistake, but I didn't hear him condemn his own second half tactics. Always everyone else's fault with this fella.

I bet there are a few on here quiet tonight after last week criticising the fans. You know who you are, crawling out of the woodwork after last week's win to jerk themselves stupid. Well today again proved you few were wrong, it seems those nasty keyboard warriors were right after all.

Too much is expected of Adams. He clearly has not got the bottle for a challenge, as proven with his departure from Morecambe, wanting to ply his trade back at league 2.
Far too many fans got overly giddy on his appointment. Talk of walking the league and all that.
But from my perspective, his initial time at City (which is all I will judge him by) is frustrating with a squad assembled that is average, full of lower league 2 standard players with sod all goals in them and tactics /team selection that has become highly questionable in recent games.
But he retains my confidence purely because he still is the biggest asset, we have in that squad. Its shape needs changing, the reintroduction of Angol and Eisa, will offer further options (but will not be the magic dust, some hope for) but if we are to push for promotion, Adams has to be given time and not pushed out the door.
The real problem lies at the top of this club in Rupp. Until he goes, it will be much of a muchness at Bradford City.
Talk (well maybe not under Rhodes) but little action which is palpable to us Bradford City fans.borderlescott, vanginger, Mike Hunt and 4 others like this. -

Get a bloody grip. It's the 19th September not 19th April. The biggest problem in this club is fans who think we have a right to be a championship team despite only having less than 15 seasons at that level or above in the last 75 years

The one clear problem is finishing we created enough chances to beat Barrow and even though it's cool to say otherwise we should have put them away comfortably
I noticed that Paudie O'Connor looked visibly upset when Evans came off and there were ironic cheers now whether they were for Adams finally making a substitution or because fans were jeering Evans Paudie didn't look happy about it and shook his head in dismay
The boos at the end of the game were totally uncalled for yes it was very frustrating but nothing I saw was boo worthy other than the forwards constantly missing the goal heck even Cooke could have scored with a free kick or two and then everyone feels different
I still blame Sparks for whipping the fans up into an expectant frenzy silly boy hope he learns his lesson quickly about promising and not deliveringPonty City, XCIV_Bantam, Aireboro Bantam and 4 others like this. -
I don’t think I’ve lost interest in a Bradford City team so quickly as I have this season, even through the admin years.
The Sparks hype made it seem we were going to have a viable product on the pitch, and I was happy with the appointment of Adams due to his record.
I was enthusiastic after the first few games but as pointed out, the squad is paper thin apart from a few key players who if got injured, would make us a sitting duck.
We’ve just lost to Crawley in a season we should be challenging for promotion. Sparks and Adams are the easy targets. I’m looking towards Rupp now more than any time before. If he doesn’t care and realise what is going on, he needs to feckoff.

IMO we did the first bit then turned off the tap as soon as the ST money was in, bringing in cheap shite to make up the numbers.
No wonder Adams is pissed off.
I get the feeling Adams said what Stuart wanted to say but wouldn't/ couldn't. -
I mean imagine coming into work having to work with that lot ............. a bunch who ain’t up for it not one leader amongst them ........ and Adams somehow must make it work ?????
Seriously the folk who want Adams gone will no doubt be calling for the next managers head within the next few months ............it’s about time we broke that cycle and all get behind a long term project like what happened with Parky............. I mean this chopping and changing as really worked hasn’t it ????Inspector, The Evidence, Mike Hunt and 4 others like this.
