Tory Government line Earlier this year.
"Health Secretary Steve Barclay has defended the pay offer made to nurses in England, emphasising it has based it on recommendations by an "independent" pay review body (PRB)."
Tory Government line now.
"The UK prime minister spoke out in the wake of reports in The Times newspaper that millions of workers faced having recommended pay rises of 6 per cent blocked by ministers over concerns they would fuel inflation."
So all over Christmas and the new year, the government were telling it would be wrong to overrule the independent pay review body, and now we have the same shower now telling us that they may have to overrule the independent pay review body.
Sunak is worse than Truss to the extend some people are actually thinking putting Truss back in charge is a viable option for this complete and utter shitshow.

Lets start by saying pumping billions into is not the answer though it would thinly paper over some of the massive cracks that adjourn it like a smashed egg shell. And i also think we need to get away from this wonderful notion of free care. Nothing is free in this life, somebody somewhere always has to pick up the bill.
As the biggest employer in Europe it has turned into a runaway monster that constantly needs feeding, problem is no one is in charge of feeding it.
So now to its present day guise, what exactly does it stand for and what does it do. Its not the problem of the footsoldiers at the bottom although there is a debate as to the state of care given. My personal experiences, whether it be of the care of parents, my brother or my wife, both who have been quite ill over the last few years, has been generally very poor. A lot of those experiences from an outsider looking in born of an organisation flying by the seat of its pants, one hand having no idea what the other is doing. To the point of embarrassment at times. On one hand i can say the paramedics i dealt with were arguably the most professional people i have ever come across in my life, an absolute credit to their profession. On the other the state of the GP surgeries i've had the displeasure of dealing with, the state of dentistry, now looked as a joke by professions of the like in Europe.
I'm only scratching the surface and i'm just an average joe. I talk to staff who work within it, morale isn't low, it's far far worse. Experienced management having to constantly put out fires created by high level incompetency ( i have an example to long for here but would have you shaking your heads in disbelief).
To keep from waffling any longer i sum it up by with points. Yes, the service does need more investment to give it any chance of resembling a professional organisation. But i would not trust either political party to run a bath, never mind give them billions to turn round the pilotless oil tanker that is the NHS. It would be like pissing into the atlantic.Aaron Baker, Hugh Jarse and Salty like this. -

If you look at the Energy market, you can't get any deals. The energy market as it work seems to be taking what the energy cap is and just charging that maximum price to everyone. It appears that Hunt and Sunak are going to drop the green energy levy back on us from July aswell.
Mortgages having their interest rates going up are doing massive damage. I know they talk of 10%+ back in the past, but 10%+ of say £20k is £2k a year. 5% of an average morgage these days at say £150k is £7.5k. Due to the housing market owning a house now for a first time buyer is a nightmare.
Going back to Tony's example of his generation, they have done well seeing a house they bought for £20k 40+ years ago is now worth £200k. It's all well and good telling people to live within their means but youngsters these days start off with massive debt from university before they even look at getting on the housing ladder.
This water company £14bn in a hole has been paying out millions in dividends and paying the CEO £1.3m a year.

At the moment I walk past open drug dealing and drug taking several times a week. I've lived in the area here for nearly twenty years now and it has never been as bad. It is partly because there has been a concerted effort to move visible drug taking outside the city centre.
We've got three drug gangs battling for territory around here locally. Stabbings are happening regularly.
There are so many reasons for this, but both Jeremy Hunt and Matt Hancock have admitted in the last couple of weeks that the funding for adult social care is inadequate. There is negligible help now available for anyone with problems, or huge waiting lists. Local authorities have lost, broadly, 60p in every pound they used to have. Of course some of it wasn't well-used, but it has resulted in the removal of vital services. Accessing any care for the elderly is so difficult and time-consuming.
I won't even start on the challenges that are faced within schools, especially those in deprived areas. I've seen that and it is soul destroying.
Brexit exposed the divisions in society, but I agree with your point about respect and decency in society. It is still there, but it is ebbing away.
The challenges the next Government faces are huge. We've cut back on so many things that the cracks in society are now clearly visible. Yet, Government spending has continued to grow (I get the pandemic etc etc) whilst I would argue the country has become less pleasant to live in.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... It's pretty simple and clear the way to deal with this is to process them and then you have a legal route to send them back if they don't meet the criteria.Dennis, Offcomedun and Bronco like this. -
When this is in a Daily Mail article it shows what a totally busted flush a certain political party is!
- Mr Cummings said it was 'appalling' that the government did not have more focus on shielding vulnerable groups;
- He said the Cobra emergency committee was designed to respond to 'relatively small' situations such as flooding or terror attack, whereas Covid 'was on the scale of a war';
- Science adviser Patrick Vallance wrote in his diaries in August 2020 that Mr Johnson was 'obsessed with older people accepting their fate and letting the young get on with life and the economy going'.
I know there may well still be a few fans of ‘trolley boy’ (apparently the name Boris Johnson was known as), but really should this person ever have a position of responsibility again.

Johnson was a terrible politician and even worse decision maker but getting rid of him when he'd won such a huge mandate and was slightly behind in the polls might be looked back upon as their biggest blunder ever. They only did it because they couldn't control a narrative and bowed to pressure from people who just wanted him out....rightly or wrongly.
Then Truss....who made errors in timing and communication no doubt....but the Torys allowed a narrative of "destroyed the economy" when every meaningful measure has probably got worse over the course of the months she left anyway. Another failing in controlling the narrative.
Even Braverman. A typical "mean" Tory but who focused on the things that your typical Tory voter wants to hear. Require good communication, controlling the narrative and a bit of backbone, but nope, the centre left won't get on board so out she goes too.
Even funnier is the fact they brought back Cameron....a man who in collaboration with Osborne made every wrong prediction on Brexit its possible to make. What is that going to look like to the typical red wall voter if such a thing even actually still exists?
They've ended up being a party that talks tough and then collapses the first time they come under pressure. They deserve everything they're going to get. If only Labour filled me with any more confidence on their reliability to hold a line and stick to a policy.Bronco, Tony Wilkinson and Rogered Tart like this. -

Well what a disgrace Westminster was yesterday, why do MPs believe Israel will take any notice of what the UK say the USA aren't getting any cooperation with their calls for a cease fire, I posted the Israelis would see this through to the very end they have littler choice but to smash Hamas, will Israel allow it to become two states again allowing Hamas to reform and continue with their attacks.
But what is more concerning is the death threats MPS are getting and the abuse we are seeing from some who are protesting shouting for jihad and from the river to the sea etc if that is not anti-Semitic I don't know what is, why aren't the Met police doing something about it in London and other police forces around the country stopping anti sematic chanting, do they believe if they get involved there will be wholesale rioting.Tony Wilkinson, Rogered Tart and Aaron Baker like this. -

If i was to live my life again thats what i would have done, this country is the absolute pits now. To be fair no one can save it from itself, just happens the Tories sped up the decline by a rate of knots. Our public services in a state of complete disarray, the countries infrastructure falling apart at the seams and the only viable alternative to the Tories is Labour. If you didn't laugh you'd cry.
