I think @Dennis was trying to inject some levity into the debate. It’s great to have you back, my advice for what it is worth is regardless of what you believe to be provocation is to ignore it. I have no axe to grind, but at times you come across as antagonistic. I like reading some of your informative knowledge on all things City, but the bickering and pointless arguments is tedious and I end up not reading any of it, and therefore may miss something. There are always clashes of personality on any forum. This is all about City, and there are probably ppl on here who you wouldn’t normally either come into contact with or even be part of your friends circle.

Yes their Championship manager doesn’t like him, thinks he should be Championship quality like he is, plus he was moaning about the training facilities.

Unlikely to be done before tomorrows game, but you never know I suppose. Fingers crossed it is, it would be a big boost two new players.

 

Why do you doubt it? He himself says he was immature when he was last here. Since then he's gone on to make a career for himself and has done enough for us to want him back. Give the lad a break .

There is no way they could afford or want to do that. We would lose a lot of fans with a stay in this league. The owner doesn’t want it because he will want to sell the club the manager doesn’t want because it will blot his CV and the fans won’t want it for obvious reasons. The only aim this season is promotion whether we achieve it or not remains to be seen

 

We saw the best of Connolly when he first arrived and we played him correctly in his RW position and gave him the ball to attack defenders. Since then, he's either come off the bench or played out of position at LW and ST. Morecambe away sticks out to me when he was no good on the left, he switched sides and straight away gets an assist. Saturday was similar, he spent all of five seconds in a RW position and managed an assist. He's one of a few players who aren't getting played correctly at the moment.

 

We need to stop harping back to the past. Rory is not the player he was when he was here, loved him to death back then but wouldn't want him back now. Same with Hanson. If we are serious about wanting to try and bounce back at the first attempt, we need to bring in a core group of players that not only can help us to do that, but that will also be able to step up to league 1 the following season, otherwise we will be left rebuilding a full squad in the summer yet again.

 

I expect we will see new faces that we haven’t seen playing before. However, comforting it is to see James Hanson and Rory McArdle back at VP, we need better. We need to build a team not just for LG2 but also for LG 1.

 

It’s good signing those types but we don’t want a full squad of them. He would be a good addition.

How about James Norwood at tranmere? Contract up in summer I believe and we can offer him a good wedge in wages with no fee involved if the club are serious?

23 goals in conference and 27 now this season? Got a point to prove and at 28 now the right age for a last punt at a bigger club?

 

This is as bad as the Docherty era, so many similarities with the squad. Its been a full season in the making, from the unbelievably pathetic performances in pre season and quite frankly the worst managerial appointment i've ever seen, one which ranks as bad as Hockaday at Leeds, to the worst transfer window in January i can ever remember, to some of the worst performances i've seen from a City side in nearly 40 years. This was the gift that kept on giving. And i know what Ricc is alluding to, even to the bitter end we had 'fans' with their heads stuck firmly up their arse. Even after arguably the worst team performance in my memory, the Walsall away game, there will still some 'fans' deludedly hanging on to some far away dream of retaining league 1 football, 'Oxfords a win game, Blackpool's a win game etc....'

Theres a fine line between giving support to your team and blindly following someone to destruction. I agree with the principle of a fresh start, we have no choice if we want to eventually move forward. But Gary Bowyer hit the nail on the head when he said the whole club has to change its attitude, its got used to failure in the last two years. And that doesn't just mean the owners and the players. That means the fans too. When we jokingly coined the phrase on TCA 'just happy to have a club to support' we fully meant it as a dig towards a large section of our fan base.

Raise your standards and higher your expectations. Because if we as fans don't, then the dross that turn out on the pitch every week certainly won't.

It’s the same at all clubs. McGoldrick was laughed at when he signed for Sheffield United, even by their fans, free transfer not good enough for Ipswich to replace David Brooks who they got 12 million for. But ignoring that he could play how Wilder wants his team to play, we need an identity, a style and then we need the players who suit it and can implement it instead of the nonsense from this season, buying names on high wages.

Some of the fans who mocked were Ipswich fans(who were also glad to see the back of Mick McCarthy, like some of ours with Parkinson and McCall), interesting to see their club now.

 

I agree we did the right thing letting him go two years ago.

But two years ago we were chasing Championship dreams.

We're back in League Two, now, and this is one of very few players who has the club at heart - after Rahic tore that heart out of the club and left us with a load of psychological softies, that's actually worth more than it sounds on first hearing.

Should we have brought him back? Not with ambitions of staying up, no.

But can he be a useful player in L2? Yes, if his wage represents good value.

So, respectfully, I disagree with you.
