McCartan will have a useful role as a squad player. You don't rate him, but he's demonstrated that he can score goals in L2 and make a significant contribution to a promotion-winning squad.
Akpan, by contrast is a lazy, ineffectual, timid waste of protoplasm on a football pitch. He's a liability.

 

If an offer comes in I'd agree, that was the reason Rahic took the risk of bringing lads like Patrick and Robinson to the club, if we get offers then it's good business no matter how little is offered.

Akpan has proved himself in the Championship. So you point is?

We don't need McCartan now but Akpan is required due to the position he plays in.

 

Akpan has 3 other players (Devine, Anderson and Palmer at a push) who play that role so why is Akpan any more required than McCartan?

Akpan has featured in three relegated teams, in successive seasons. He's a loser.
He has undoubted ability - we've seen glimpses of it - but he uses it about 5% of the time. His laziness puts his teammates under frequent pressure. He's the least motivated player I've ever seen at City, Tommy Doherty included.
Despite their undoubted limitations I'd rather have Devine or Anderson in ahead of Akpan. At least they both run, mark and tackle, unlike Akpan.

I dont care for Akpan as he hasn't done enough but neither has McCartan here. Both can leave as far as I am concerned.

 

If he sticks with 442 I think McCartan will come of the bench as he did with success for Lincoln if we gonfor three up front he is ideal for the number 10 role. I don’t think Patrick will figure much because I still think there will be cover brought in probably on deadline day.

Not being funny but Devitt was an absolute whopper the last time he was here. The sort of bell that damages morale in the long run.

Why do you doubt it? He himself says he was immature when he was last here. Since then he's gone on to make a career for himself and has done enough for us to want him back. Give the lad a break .
