Hi Steeton, are you also hearing another midfielder is close (in a holding role) as getting whispers it could still be 2 before the weekend?

 

Steeton is usually on the money, sounds like Devitt is a done deal. Could work, we are desperately short of creative players.

Jon, I think he has grown up a lot since we last had him at the club - and I think GB and our senior pros would be the ideal combination to get the best out of him

Yes their Championship manager doesn’t like him, thinks he should be Championship quality like he is, plus he was moaning about the training facilities.

Do you think? Lets say Devitt does come in, how do you see us setting up?
My initial thoughts go to 442 still, which would mean Palmer and Devitt in CM. Is this right for what we need in this league?

I still feel we would lack a strong holding CM

 

My worry is if anything happens to Donaldson or Vaughan.

Need decent back up for them.

Over we need 2 midfielders, LW, and a forward but understand we won't get all in 2 weeks.

 

As far as I understand we are wanting Devitt, Buckley & Roberts

No names for an holding midfielder yet but we certainly need one. I'm guessing it will depend on if Akpan moves on or not.

Not played much football and be on a good wage. Signed new 1 year deal this year. Doubt this one would/will happen

 

Agree with all of this, if we lose Vaughan as it stands we lose the majority of our goal threat and a massive engine in the centre. In the first few games, he's dropped back into midfield when needed and defended corners in the air like our best centre half! We simply cant rely on Patrick to replace him whatsoever, McCartan may offer more but the jury's out. We need another finisher up front, who can create his own chances.

The frustrating thing is we're very close to being a solid and complete squad. 2 or 3 more quality signings and were good to go. Just hope SR loosens those purse strings enough to help us challenge. Hed be stupid not to!
