Whereas Bradford City have had a recent relegation fuelled by overspending.

It's never nice to see clubs fold but what Bolton are getting away with is scandalous, they should have either put them in admin or liquidated them last week, court case after court case with them, money owed all over the place, wages not paid, players striking and now the EFL help them out again.
I don't think other clubs would be so lucky.

I honestly don't understand the anti-Bolton / anti-Parkinson attitude of some City supporters.

The reason Phil Parkinson left us for Bolton is Edin Rahic, not Parkinson doing the dirty on us, or Bolton doing us over, quite simply Edin Rahic.

Looks like the players have had enough and i don't blame them. The game seems to be awash with w@nkers like Ken Anderson, buying clubs then fleecing them for what they can get.

Parky deserves a medal for continuing in the mess that is Bolton and to pick up a point yesterday in the circumstances they are under

It is to do with the number games the kids are being asked to play in such a short period of time. There are rules for the juniors about gaps between games which do not apply to first team games. PP says as his team is made up of juniors the rules should apply.
I can see his point. If it isn’t safe for the kids to play in junior matches so often then surely same applies to first team games

Don't get me wrong I sympathise with fans of both clubs and many others, but both Bolton & Bury have had recent promotions fueled by overspending and at the expense of clubs that live within their means.

Given a choice, EVERYONE except Bradford City fans (and probably even a few of them) would choose Bolton over Bradford.

I've been following the events at Bolton for a while as I have friends who support them. The present situation is quite incredible and perhaps might be a tipping point in football history. Put simply Bolton have had a mad owner like us, they owe a great deal of money to many creditors, they seemed to have been taken over by another maniac with a dodgy previous record, but the EFL haven't sanctioned it, the players have gone on strike and tomorrow's game is in doubt, the fans have been vilifying the players and especially Phil Parkinson's tactics for months. At least we still have a club, but I wonder how long football can go on living beyond its means. Some of their fans believe that if they go to the wall others will follow. Maybe worrying times for football in general.

They need to sort it before the weekend to make sure they don’t have to deal with redoing the league positions between Sunday and play off ganes

It's a shame that it's come to this. But Bolton appear to collect ne'er do well owners and potential owners like nobody else does!

Once the High Court hears the HRMC's winding up petition, I don't see any other outcome than the petition being granted. This means that the club is handed over to the Official Receiver and liquidation of the club is the only outcome in order to pay off its debts. It would be better for the club to avoid the petition being heard and place itself in Administration prior to the hearing and then construct some form of CVA which the club hopes can be negotiated with the creditors. They're between a rock and a hard place but the nuclear option of liquidation is to be avoided at all costs. That would be the end of Bolton Wanderers.

Despite their own wrongdoings over recent years, I wouldn't want to see another club go to the wall but they will have to take their punishment like every other club would have to do in these same circumstances. The only good thing to come out of this is that Anderson who seems to be responsible for this mess will lose most of his investment!

I trust that the EFL has a long hard look at itself and its own processes because they don't come out of this saga well. Their job has to be to avoid a repeat of this by tightening up their FFP procedures, their financial governance processes and revamping their Owners and Directors Test. It's shocking that it has come to this but without changes, it could all happen again.

I notice that Sky Sports is scheduled to show the Bolton v Bury match live in September. They really know which games to choose don't they.

How many years have posters on here and C&B said it's only a matter of time before the domino's start falling, and possibly a bigger club who had fallen onto hard times because of mismanagement would go under, it's looking very ominous that two of our Lancashire neighbours Bolton & Bury could be the first of many.
If it does happen you have to feel for the innocent parties mainly the fans and small creditors.

    Too true.

Just think the FA have to kick both Bolton and Bury out now or send them to div 2 with minus points that they're on.

Sympathy to an extent for the fans, however as you say I highly doubt there were any fans of either team worrying about whether or not they could afford who they were buying at the time. As fans we need to have a long hard think about the pressure sometimes placed on owners to spend money constantly. Short termism in football is worse than its ever been from top to bottom and this is the ultimate result.

Which is why I cringe when people say it’s ok to run at an unmanageable debt. The efl are partly to blame for allowing these owners and also allowing them to sign players

I certainly get the sentiment. History may yet record that Edin's legacy may yet prove to be a successful one, in that he brought Stefan in with him and then left him to run the Club properly.
