    Looks like the league are forcing them to play their juniors for the last two games. If a team did that they would be fined

    Very true looking at the table it might not effect any promotion or relegation teams but you're quite right if Bolton had done that off their own backs the FL would have had something to say about it.

    If Bolton are unable to fulfil their fixtures will all their results be cancelled out and how will that effect tbe table for promotion/relegation. I guess Accrington back in the 1960's is ths last time something similar occurred?

    That is usually the case which is why the league have instructed them to play the games even if it is with the kids

    • Will the PFA intervene?
    • I see the EFL have not put a deadline for completing the fixtures. Bizarre as I guess Brentford players will want to spend time, ‘on the beach’, rather than hanging around to play relegated Bolton.

    It has happened this season in the Evostick North Premier league. North Ferriby went bust during the season and all results involving their games wiped out. Not sure whether standings in the table were seriously affected in terms of promoted or relegated teams.

    I seem to recall it happening to Maidstone in the 4th tier about 20 years ago?

    Forget Bolton what about the small dedicated band of Brentford fans who are supposed to travel 230 miles to support their team at short Notice. Disgraceful business. Bad enough journey over a weekend but to a midweek fixture. Bolton should have to bear all their costs. Some will have had train tickets for last weekend. The last train from Horwich Parkway to Brentford is at 8.30 pm, so no train option for Brentford fans. Alternative is for the match to be played behind closed doors.

    If they do go out of business and their results are cancelled, then Norwich, Sheffield United and Leeds will all lose six points but West Brom and Derby will not lose six. West Brom could end up being automatically promoted.

    The EFL will be desperate to avoid that scenario I would have thought.

    They need to sort it before the weekend to make sure they don’t have to deal with redoing the league positions between Sunday and play off ganes

    I don't agree with them but parachute payments should be ringfenced to cover contracts already in situ at the point of relegation. It shouldn't be monies used to buy more players on good contracts once relegated.

    It all seems a complete mess with Bolton at the minute - Wouldn't surprise me if they are expelled from the Football League.
