    It's scary to think that just last year we (Sunderland) were on the brink of administration until we got our takeover. I recall seeing that we were just a couple of weeks away from going bust.

    Let's hope they are and get owners who can steady the club going forward, weve been through it twice and its not good as a supporter to feel your club could be wound up.

    How many years have posters on here and C&B said it's only a matter of time before the domino's start falling, and possibly a bigger club who had fallen onto hard times because of mismanagement would go under, it's looking very ominous that two of our Lancashire neighbours Bolton & Bury could be the first of many.
    If it does happen you have to feel for the innocent parties mainly the fans and small creditors.

    It doesn’t surprise me at all. He seemed intent on buying the club and feels hard done by by what he sees are disrespect shown to him by the administrators

    Might have something to do with a substantial bond he lodged as proof of funds with pre admin management, which no one seems to be able to locate (allegedly)

    He is seriously dodgy imo and not somebody I'd want to be involved with my club. When he was at Watford, he managed somehow to have the club loan him a serious amount of money and later said he had no intention of repaying it! When the club had to be sold, the EFL investigated and found him guily of various financial irregularities. He was barred by the EFL from having any involvement in football ownership for several years. It's a pity it wasn't even longer!

    And now he's involved in a stand off with the Bolton administrator having previously agreed to buy the club (from Anderson) despite not being able to show any proof of funds. I can understand the administrator's frustration at the latest shenanigans given how close he was to selling the club to a more stable consortium.

    Thing is their fans are now complaining about the EFL not controlling the clubs but can you imagine the uproar if during last season the EFL ordered Bolton/Bury to sell players, or not offer contract renewals at start of last season. The owners would be in the press and the fans moaning that the clubs were being held back.

    They are in a no win situation

    Well it is the EFL role to regulate and make sure the rules are followed. They have a rule that states the owners have to meet the fit for purpose rules; have you any convictions? No carry on then. They need to employ a much more rigorous attitude and application to run a football club. We are lucky that one of our owners by accident has integrity. The EFL will find themselves running a much smaller operation with less money, it this continues, no doubt they will see themselves alright though.
