Honestly don’t get the Doyle love in, City have moved on, judging by the photos of him still wearing City kit him and Mrs Doyle haven’t moved on. He’s 36 and played 35 games in the three years since leaving City. I’m no fan of O’Donnell but we can do better than Doyle.

But this is just bizarre, you want to replace someone who’s made 350 professional appearances with some trialist at a non league club because he made a few saves in a friendly. Do you even know who he is let alone his previous experience, he may have been let go from somewhere for being a total liability.

If R’OD is our number 2 next season there won’t be a better more experienced number 2 in this league.

Some of our fans are simply bizarre.

 

Not wanting to state the obvious but here goes. We're a league 2 club with no rich benefactor. We've gone through 18 months or so of Covid and the financial restraints that it has brought. There is no golden chicken shitting money eggs. Even Salford have cut back and got rid of many high earners. League 2 has no stand out teams, the ones that will be successful are the ones that are the most organised.

 

Carlisle fan here, if there is any truth whatsoever in the Zanzala thing then mark my words you've escaped a bullet, he made Omar Patrick look really, really good. And lets face it if he chose Barrow over Bradford then he must be a couple of Rooks short of a chess set, or they've offered him really silly money, which I seriously doubt!!! (not that I've got anything against our Cumbrian rivals of course ........cough, cough)

I don't buy into it that they don't know regarding Angols injury, my guess is they know full well he's out long term but don't want to declare that as public knowledge until the transfer window shuts as it could potentially push up any targets values as it makes us look a bit more desperate.

Whoever it is we're after, its imperative we sign a ball winning midfielder this summer. The fact that we've gone three years without one is scandalous.

 

Evans is everything that's been wrong with our recruitment over the past few years. 30+, on good wages and doesn't have a set position. Have to avoid these types of players going forwards.

My lads just been invited to train with the Academy U14 goalkeepers. I might start house shopping with the way they seem to progress!

 

His experience with the first team will be invaluable in his new role. I am pleased that he has been rewarded with a 3 year contract.

 

Its mid June, players on holiday, manager just back from his break in Scotland - 2 offered contracts have accepted and been announced and we will know answer on the other 2 this week. As well as Cook I know 2 more new players have agreed terms and will be announced this week and a number of others I understand are nearing completion.
We are a very impatient society these days in general and the need for immediate news and gratification can be all consuming - all I can say is snippets I get from agents is everything is falling into place. Time to be unsettled is if there is still a lot of business to be done when we return to pre-season training but I honestly dont think this will be the case - enjoy the lovely weather (before that goes pear shaped too!)
