Lots of players move down to move up. We will see how Gotts develops but really it has nothing to do with us anyway we are well stocked in midfield

Yet that was one area Adams wanted to strengthen before the Angol injury.

I thought it was Cookes role he wanted to strengthen though? Gotts is more of a box to box type rather than a playmaker like Cooke.

Agree with that, Gott is a full of running 90 minute box to box covering most of the pitch. he is more a win and give player than a playmaker,

Signing Kelleher to leave Staunton watching from the stands is a move I don’t understand.

Yeah I agree. I've only seen him a couple of times but both times he's been very shaky. He's clearly there for his height yet never really dominated whenever the ball was in the air and the less said the better when he had the ball at his feet.

Staunton for me is a better footballer and given the chance will mature into a much better player.

Perhaps Staunton should retrain himself as a centre forward. Probably got more chance of getting a game!

Fair point but Adams said midfield was the area he wanted another body in and Cooke especially in the last couple of games as dropped deeper than the no.10 role.

Baffling, but i think Adams just wants height and size there at the minute. Staunton is probably 6ft, maybe 6'1 after standing by him before, where as the other lads seem to be a bit taller and a bit broader. Don't think Adams is too fussed over youth, but i think Staunton might see LB as an easier route into the first team. Played there a few times for the youth team too.

Adams comes across like Parkinson in that way. He preferred to use older average talent over the youth, until he was forced into. Like McHugh only got his chance after Davies got an injury, PP even used Luke Oliver before trying McHugh. Then signed Nelson, pushing McHugh back down the order from Jan onward. Did similar with McBurnie, only got his chance when Hanson was injured and Alan Connell didn't look up top it anymore, then signed Stead and Andy Gray. Seems like Adams prefers experience to youth too.

Think that's right for Sikora and Scales but Staunton has more to offer than Foulds or Kelleher for me.

Just had a quick glance at the northern squads in the National League, all seem pretty full in defence except for Halifax, they only have 6 defenders on the books so might be an obvious spot for Staunton.

One of the issues with not having a reserve/U23 squad but if these lads aren't going to play it makes sense for them to get out on loan and get some needed experience. Some big teams getting a good few thousand for that level through the gates, better for them to play in those situations rather than just sitting in the stands watching us.

Hopefully all 3 get good clubs and develop, if Scales does well I could see him being called back and been Cookes understudy. I’d put Staunton ahead of Kelleher but I’d rather him be playing and developing than sat on the bench. I hope they aren’t just left to rot and are carefully monitored because it’d be good to see them progress.

I think that's a good idea but wouldn't it be better if the decision had been made by now surely those clubs now have their squads together

Won't that make it harder for them to get game time

We’re all still getting to know Adams, but he doesn’t seem bowled over by the business we’ve done.

I get that impression, he got a tad annoyed at the question, surrounding Robinson (not) being his no 1 target.
    Personally I don’t blame him.
