Summer 2021 Transfers

You have no idea what quality is in a league two context. You would have named none of the players in the teams that got promoted last year aside from the obvious one or two or those that have played for us.

 

No. Its not true.

Not wanting to state the obvious but here goes. We're a league 2 club with no rich benefactor. We've gone through 18 months or so of Covid and the financial restraints that it has brought. There is no golden chicken shitting money eggs. Even Salford have cut back and got rid of many high earners. League 2 has no stand out teams, the ones that will be successful are the ones that are the most organised.

 

When you comment like this it has merit. In truth we probably do lack that bit of quality that we've seen over the years from various loan signings. That said, we are more organised than we have been for years and are actually been run like a business off the pitch.

 

The whole league lacks quality its league 2

 

Not a rumour as such but one I'll put forward... how about Bahamboula from Oldham? He went on trial at Middlesboro but is now back at Oldham without it looking like they are interested. The interesting think is it was Curle who recommended him to Boro so it may be they are trying to cash in on him, certainly seems like he will be leaving. Given that, depending which League One clubs come in for him, we might be able to convince him to push for promotion with us rather than fight relegation / finish mid-table in League One. I feel we're maybe one short in the centre and he would be a good signing

 

What lone signings have played for us in league 2 with more quality than what we have now ?

 

Isn’t he more of a wide man? We could do with getting ride of one nevermind bringing another one in! I see that tshimanga is still a free agent was linked with Rotherham and Bolton l

 

Quality at this level isnt important as other factors. It just costs you a few extra quid.

Cambridge, Cheltenham and Morecombe lacked quality 12 months ago. Nobodies tips to get promoted.

I seem to remember him playing centrally against us and doing well but I might be having a brain fart or thinking of someone else, or he might have been playing out of position

Cheltenham had quality loans from the PL.

Morecambe were lucky. No player in the team or the year and will come straight back down.

Look, it might be a good thing we have a team of same old average players but for me in tight matches we will lack that quality and it cost cost us.

I didn't say league 2. Our best use of the loan market was during our tenure in league 1.

 

Thanks mate. Some people on here need to relax. I am not saying we won’t finish in an automatic spot but we are counting on a team base rather than individual quality. Sometimes you need that bit of magic to win you games. My worry in tight matches we don’t have enough to win and as a TEAM we could get figured out quickly.

Off the pitch I agree it’s starting to run more professional.

 

Three weeks ago you said we would be no higher than 10th. More flip flops than on Blackpool front.

Just be consistent in your opinion perhaps?

 

Its like you have been dropped on your head at birth.

The aim will be to finish in an automatic spot and this year we have no excuses. Its a massive season.

 

Cambridge - Hoolahan had a good season, give you that. But had played about 15 games in 2 seasons before that - a risk.

Cheltenham - you had never even heard of their loans this time last summer.

Morecombe - You don't get lucky over a 49 game season - you earn it and it is as simple as that.

Utter nonsense once again.

 

We were really spoilt that season TBF. Davies at the back, Jones in the middle and Wells up top. All 3 would be in my pre PL years team.
