Stevens has been on trial with Harrogate during pre season but failed to impress. As you are alluding to, just because a player belongs to a PL team it does not necessarily mean they are going to be up to much.

 

Absolute crap. Over 46 games LUCK does not get you to within one point of the automatics and win the play off final. Luck might get you 7th when the team above you implodes like Exeter did in 2013, but even then luck doesn't get you onto the winners podium at Wembley with a 3.0 thrashing.

 

How do you know they are quality and not another Samuels, Stevens etc ? Watch much PL u21 football do you ?

Look at the L2 team of the season from last season. I don't see many 'quality loans' in there. I see a lot I are previous L2 plodders with 1 or 2 names like Hoolahan and Sarcevic.

Extremely doubtful. Blackpool (his home town), Sunderland and Charlton have been linked. Don't see him stepping down to L2.

I know what you’re saying, organisation, teamwork and graft are important, but you need players who can do the basics, a team of BRE, DMH and Guthries would get you nowhere other than relegated.
At the moment, unless Eisa, Crankshaw, Vernam and Angol surprise me, the City squad is lacking 20 goals. I said it a year ago, probably need 75+ goals for promotion, last season was a low scoring one. Work out where 75 goals are coming from in that squad. If Cook gets 20, the defence and own goals 15 between them, that’s another 40 from the midfield five.

Surely how many goals you need depends on how many you are conceding Cheltenham were champions with just 61 goals. And 39 conceded.
We have enough forward players to get the goals we need and we have and need to score more from set pieces so defenders can chip in as well

Once last year's squad and 'own goal' had been cleared out, we were left with 17 of the 48 goals for; bringing Cook back added another 8. So 25... Let's be pessimistic and simply double Cook's tally -- as he'll be here all season -- 32. So I agree with you, Mike...we still want some 40 goals, over the retained players and the new signings. Our retained players really have to increase their tallies, and the new ones have to live up to expectations.

If we don't get that, then, Park, we'd better do as you imply and have a watertight defence, indeed one of the tightest defences we've ever had. That'll make for a much more nerve-wracking season though!

As Adams does have that reputation for getting the most out of players, perhaps we can be greedy and ask for a little of each!

I think you can look at double figures from Eisa this year. Vernham, Crankshaw, Gillead 20 between them

 

Last season was a low scoring season. A couple of years ago Luton scored 94 in finishing second.
I think POC and Canavan have it in them to be a formidable partnership. But like up front, you lose one of them to injury or suspension, then you’re starting to worry a bit. We have plenty of forward players, I’m just not convinced there are enough goals in them. Cook if he stays fit is on for 15-20, the rest I’m not sure about Last season we had five forwards in August, Clarke, Samuels and Guthrie scored two league goals between them. it’s quality, not quantity.

True. From what i saw on the football league highlights every week if he plays enough games there's definitely goals in him. I think we will have one striker and him playing off them for the majority of games. (Watch this not happen now)
