I'm not a fan of cutting off your nose to spite your face. What on earth is the point of having an unhappy player around a club? Just so we can show him 'who's boss!!' ??

No other clubs do this. Spurs allowing Ericksen to stay until January is a classic example (and in fairness he did a lot of good for that club before the, er, domestic incidents got in the way)

It never works. Just like it didn't work when Hopkin made three players play with the youth team. Other team members see it as a contradiction that a manager is into team spirit, when they would make someone stay at the club against their will or banish them to the youth team

I'm annoyed with what's happened - but in fairness, that's just how it goes

Think you are missing the key point.

Spurs didn't let Ericksen go for free? He wanted out for 6 months and Spurs said No...He played and then Spurs sold him in Jan for I think around 22m. He was free to leave in the summer.

Coutinho wanted to leave Liverpool and like Spurs, Liverpool kept him for 6 months then sold him for 146m.

Vaughan had 2 years left on his contract and we let him go for free. See the difference? Clubs keep the player no matter what until the valuation is met. Vaughan shouldn't be let go on a free.. Poor business.

I've already commented on how badly run our club is but the damage was done when we signed him. A three year deal for a player who never lasts that long at a club and who had spat his dummy out in less than half a season of being here. I mentioned a few times early on last season that his body language stank the place out. McCall is blamless here, he tried but when a player doesn't want to be here what can you do? I can't think of one instance where a club has held on to a player who didn't want to there. Yes we've had our pants down but he's gone. Time to see who his replacement is.

Our best signings of recent years have been loan signings who all have gone on to better things, players such as Josh Cullen, Reece Burke, Lee Evans, Adam Reach, Lewis O'Brien, Jordan Pickford etc. Our club has no real strategy to its transfer signings as shown by our desperately bad transfer windows of the last three years or so, last January being a real low. Hopefully the signing of Cooke and Watt shows a strategy aimed toward younger players targeted for their potential to develop rather than over paid journeymen.

Agree 100%. It's been posted in the new rumours thread this morning that Agard is a done deal. If true, I'd be disappointed as it shows that yet again, we've learnt nothing.

The most annoying thing is that us mere mortals knew of his reputation. Why the hell did the club, not only sign him, but offer him a three year deal? If It had been in Rahic's tenure, he'd have been hung, drawn and quartered!

We may not have paid him anything, mutually termination of his contract so he could join Tranmere (Prenton) Rovers. They may have taken him on, on the same money, on a two year contract. He wanted to leave at the end of the day.
If we have paid him anything we have probably paid him the difference between what he would have earned we us and what Tranmere were prepared to pay him.

The whole Vaughan fiasco epitomizes the way the club is run
Everyone knew he had "form" for this and whoever gave him a 3 year deal is culpable in this
The same with Doyle a lot on here were in no way surprised that he did well for Swindon but we were rapidly turning him into a donkey before he left and his short spell in January where is the transfer policy
It seems the club have no "blueprint" for the way it does anything just stumble along from crisis to crisis it will continue until someone takes the club by the scruff of the neck forms a plan for the future and sticks to it (Parky) Most progressive businesses have at least a 5 year plan and know how to achieve it
We need experienced "football" men and a chairman with a modicum of interest to drag us out of this malaise until this happens we seem happy to simply avoid dropping out of the league

He's certainly a character, I questioned his attitude when we first signed him and unfortunatly he proved me right, unfortunately it's part of his game.
There is no doubt given the correct service and partner he could be in the high teens if not better, I hope he stays even in a poor team he was our top scorer.

In an ideal world I would agree he does need to honour his contract
However he didn't kick up a fuss about being loaned out last season to help us I imagine he was only too pleased to go,would you really want a player/bench warmer who as you say is well paid to "sulk" because he doesn't want to be here
We should have learned after the NW situation players-agents have all the power these days

I would love you to be right mate, unfortunatly were talking football and usually footballers get their way, if he wants to play silly buggers that will not help Stuart build a good dressing room.
Arrivederci James but not with any sort of compromise, you leave and Tranmere take your salary demands on not Bradford City.

i think the likelihood of him sulking if he stays is low under mccall, who for all his faults is a fantastic man manager. if he goes we're probably buggered unless we ignore whats happening with the salary cap and get someone good in before it kicks in. the EFL keeps dragging their heels so why should we wait if they arent being clear. However knowing us I suspect Vaughan will go and we either wont replace him or sign a guthrie clone and shout salary cap.

I'm not sure why there is this idea we want rid. Stuart and Ryan have stated categorically the club want him to stay, Vaughan has said nothing publicly about what he wants but his actions on social media suggest he doesn't want to associate himself with us any longer. Removing all trace of yourself as a Bradford City player sends out a pretty strong message to me, and whilst he may still be contractually obliged to come and train with us, if his heart isn't in it the club may reluctantly have to accept it is best for both parties if he goes. That however is very different to the club wanting to get rid.

At least It appears we don't seem to be interested in Dennis.

The board and McCall will need to come up with a good replacement or the natives will be very restless even before the season starts

Its Rhodes all over. And even less of a surprise it's happened after the cap has been voted in so we can use it as a way to skimp on the wages of his replacement.

Vaughan can do one if he don't want to be here rather him go than be sulking about for next two years stealing a wage. Always thought he had an attitude problem no surprise he's had that many clubs.replacement needed think we're lacking pace up top and someone not in there thirties lol.
