Yes we did. He got a very nice pay off to compensate the £3.5k a week we owed him over 2 years.

Vaughan was training at 50%. Was telling other players he wanted out and won't play for us again. He forced our hand to get rid and he has previous for it. He wasn't giving up a £400,000 contract for NOTHING!!!

He did not leave for nothing. Tranmere are paying him less.

    A player.

If you think he walked away from a £400k contract for nothing then you aren't thinking logically. He held all the cards...we had to pay him to leave. Even though he wanted too. Alternative was we keep unhappy player on a big wage.

Tranmere and Vaughan won this one.

Exactly he walked away from it we didn’t force him out. If we paid him anything it will be a lot less than that

Vaughan was happy to stay and do nothing apart from been awkward. Best for all concerned was a pay off. It was nowhere near £400k but I'm lead to believe it was 'handsome'.

The whole Vaughan fiasco epitomizes the way the club is run
Everyone knew he had "form" for this and whoever gave him a 3 year deal is culpable in this
The same with Doyle a lot on here were in no way surprised that he did well for Swindon but we were rapidly turning him into a donkey before he left and his short spell in January where is the transfer policy
It seems the club have no "blueprint" for the way it does anything just stumble along from crisis to crisis it will continue until someone takes the club by the scruff of the neck forms a plan for the future and sticks to it (Parky) Most progressive businesses have at least a 5 year plan and know how to achieve it
We need experienced "football" men and a chairman with a modicum of interest to drag us out of this malaise until this happens we seem happy to simply avoid dropping out of the league

Even Lawn and Rhodes we were going towards non league before Parkinson came in and gave the club a good shake, we’ve always been terribly run. Even Richmond who gave us the best memories built it on quick sand, no forward planning for years to come. We stumble from one season to the next and unfortunately I don’t know when or if it will change.

    Few things are wrong here.

    1. Vaughan DID want to leave hence his poor attitude. If he wanted to 'stay' he wouldn't have stropped about.
    2. Even if a player wants to leave it makes absolutely no sense to pay them off. Why didn't Pogba, Messi, Cutiniho or Bale get paid out of thier contracts then? If the club wants to keep them they can
    3. From a fiscal point of view it makes no sense to pay a player out of their contract as most clubs just cant afford this.
    4. Also i wouldnt be shocked if paying a player off came under the tranfer budget. The fact that the club state we are still well within the wage cap supports this.
    5. If a player wants to leave (Vaughan wanted to) who has a club that want him BUT said club cant afford a fee you let them go on a free!!!
How does that work i hear you cry!
Simple. You tell Vaughan if you want to leave we pay you nothing. Otherwise you stay here and rot.

You also didnt actually provide your source on this when asked.

Lastly im glad he lost that friendly with tranmere 3-0.

But that situation was not what Stuart wanted, we have to take Stuart's word that he spoke to Vaughan and hoped getting back into training with the lads might have changed his mind but it's obvious from later comments from the club that was not the case, hence Stuart wanted him out of the club.
I dont believe an fan knows the details of him going to Tranmere but I would be disappointed if he got anymore than his contractual agreements, keeping someone like Vaughan could have ruined the dressing room both Stuart and Phil Parkinson were both strong advocates of a good dressing room.

I'd say Pinto's version would be failry accurate although how much the pay off would have been will never be known. Your second to bottom sentence should be how it works but in practice it rarely does. Vaughan has played a blinder going to Tranmere when he did in his first season, they both liked what they saw and could work a deal between them out of the way of City's prying eyes. There was no other club showing interest so it was clear Tranmere had a good hand, they knew that and would not match his wages. This idea that City could turn round and say you can stay here and rot is quite comical, benefits neither the player or City themselves, hence the need to negotiate to get him off the books.

Possibly... my only counter for that is there a benefit to get him off the books? as that money freed up could be used on wages for new signings. Rather than using on a player to leave, if that was the case hes just be better staying here and rotting imo. But you make a good point regardless.

That is fair point too, didn't factor in having a bad egg in the group.

I agree with that, the wages he was were high level in league 1, in league 2 with your lower mathcday incomes it was nigh on impossible to justify unless he was doing what Eoin Doyle did at Swindon. So good in a sense that the club can use the money elsewhere.
And in an ideal world we'd have ripped up the shiesters contract and told him to do one. Hopefully we may have seen the back of players taking the piss out of this club now.

Tranmere Rovers promotion push dealt a major injury blow
They will lose the services of James Vaughan.
The former City striker will go under the knife on Tuesday to correct a knee injury.

Wow, that could have a significant impact on promotion/playoff places. He's far and away their main goal threat.

Unrelated but Vaughan out for the season, Tranmere could tumble now, another place up for grabs perhaps...

I know I shouldn't say this but hurrah!!! He disrespected BCAFC. Maybe that's OK in this competitive world but so is my dislike for him.
