I didn't realise you asked. I guess in theory yes, both paries could just end a contract if the terms were right. But thats not how it is worded in the T and A.

Seems to be some confusion on here about how the salary cap works. Tranmere can pay Vaughan much more than the division average if they want. They have £1.5m to spend how they like. They could spend £500,000 on one players wages and use the rest of the money for the rest of the squad if they want. Or they could spend £500,000 on their whole squad if they so desire.

We may not have paid him anything, mutually termination of his contract so he could join Tranmere (Prenton) Rovers. They may have taken him on, on the same money, on a two year contract. He wanted to leave at the end of the day.
If we have paid him anything we have probably paid him the difference between what he would have earned we us and what Tranmere were prepared to pay him.

    Yep
To sum up possibly we are paying for someone to play and score for a rival
Genius it could even catch on

He still wants the money, he just wants to play somewhere else. You can either have a very unhappy player at your club not performing to his best or you can let him go. Tranmere want him but won't pay his full contract knowing Bradford can't afford to play hard ball. Thats why both clubs have come to a mutual agreement as opposed to Bradford just terminating his contract.

I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying, but people are assuming that "mutual agreement" is legalese for being paid off - which it isn't. It literally means both parties have come to an agreement. Could involve paying out the contract. Maybe not. But the context here says that being paid out is unlikely. Due to him having a club to go to.

Didn't we? If you are right about that then it's the best outcome we could have hoped for if we wanted it sorted quickly. If he didn't want to be here good riddance. As for him scoring goals for a rival, so what. If we get it right on the pitch we won't need to worry about anyone else. There are three automatic promotion places up for grabs. If we aren't good enough, again James Vaughan's exploits elsewhere are irrelevant.
I thought a lot of contributors to this site thought he was over the hill anyway.

I think a lot of that is sour grapes to be honest I think Vaughan would have been close to scoring 20 for us next season and will be hard to replace so personally I am having none of this glad he is gone.
However we move on let’s see who can be brought in

I absolutely agree, amazing how some were predicting he'd score 25 goals at the start of last season to 'glad he's gone', I remember getting pelters for my stance on Doyle, but at least most accepted that Eoin definitely wouldn't have scored that many goals for us.

Vaughan, on the other hand, knows where the net is, and we've let him go on a free.

Even with the wage cap now in, there is no way Vaughan has signed for Tranmere on 1.3k a week. He will be a lot more than that.

Why do you assume that Tranmere only have £67,600 left in the pot?

This article could be pertinent in many ways:

    https://www.saddlers.co.uk/news/2019/june/andy-cook-leaves-for-mansfield/

Player makes it clear he wants to leave Walsall, hard work is done to ensure a decent fee is agreed with Mansfield, player scores a few goals then leaves (post-article) for Tranmere on loan.

Exactly what happened with Vaughan, except you'll note Cook hasn't left Mansfield on a free transfer or by mutual consent.

What are the chances Tranmere tried to muscle Mansfield into releasing Cook?

38 pages on a player we don't like and isn't even playing for city any more..... are things really that boring in Bradford nowadays lol.

How about talk about the 3rd kit, new signings and pre season friendlies.

We still at the very least another month of lockdown in Melbourne with a 5.00am to 8.00pm curfew with bars, cinemas and resturants closed and travel more than 5 kms from home banned.... come on boy's and girl's, get a life!
