Just got around to reading this and finding out about the reason for the cancellation.
Respect to JonButterfield for originally arranging this protest, and having to make the decision to cancel without having time to consult with the contributors.
For what it's worth, I agree with his decision to cancel, given what he has been told.
I think the flyover idea was a success, without it actually going ahead. It certainly contributed to, what seems like Rahic on his bike soon, and perhaps the masterstroke of bringing back Julian Rhodes.
So fair play to you JonButterfield.
Hopefully,Hopkin's statement on Friday about recruitment, and yesterday's battling performance, is the start of the long road to recovery for our special football club

I have my doubts about the linkage of this to the Henry signing and any potential investment going into the club. But that's just a personal view. I guess we'll never know the complete story. I trust that others make good on their promise to avoid you being out of pocket but if there are any issues, I hope you share that with everybody on here.
Well done again to you and @Nick_W_ for organising this show of our concern with at least one of the owners. I'm still hoping that Rahic will shortly be cutting all of his ties with our club - as shareholder, as director and as CEO - and we can then build on yesterday's performance and possibly start to climb the table.
Once you know you won't be out of pocket, I'd be happy for my contribution to go to either the BBU or the MND fund.FrenchBantam, CT Bantam, Bronco and 6 others like this. -
‘l have been designated as the person who will talk to other supporters, by the club’.
‘Importantly I know things which you don’t’, you must blindly trust me’.
‘You must go along with what I say otherwise it will damage the club’.
‘I am not accountable to anyone, I will not even inform the membership of the organisation of which I am an official’.
‘The official club Ambassador and the Club PR officer, could not undertake this vital phone discussion’.
‘I will not explain why it was left until less than 24 hours before the ‘Fly Past was due’.
‘If you disagree with me or challenge me, so what because l know things that none of you do’.
So not really a discussion, rather a series of ‘proclamations’!Inspector, Bantamsteve, Angryangryian and 6 others like this. -
I think the majority of us believe that whatever Jon was told on Friday could quite possible be a load of old cobblers . If people’s frustrations are because of this opinion then that’s understandable, however no one Should confuse this with blaming Jon for making the call to cancel. Imagine you are in the hot seat making the final decision, you decide to run with it and then news of a possible new investor changes their mind, why would anyone expect Jon to carry that responsibility. Imagine Jon’s name all over social media, he’s to blame !!!!!!!
If you consider this predicament sensibly, you wouldn’t be questioning his decision.

I dont think anyone has questioned @JonButterfield ... more over the reason the conversation took place on D day or thereabouts which left him no option

I have nothing but respect and pride for you Jon. Certain posters taunted you about the talk and that you would never do it. You stepped up, arranged it and got people organised. If not for the weather it would have happened weeks ago.
The only difference between now and then is a certain Mr Rhodes is back and trying to galvanise the club again. I think that must have some involvement in this.
I heard from 2 different sources today that Rahic was on his bike. One from just below Lawn's box who heard them say he was gone and would be announced next week. Another who knows one of the City diehards who posted the combined article on WOAP urging people to get behind the club and said basically the same.
If this is correct then think we've had an influence.
PM me if you want to share further details as one of the 64.

I've no doubt whatsoever that without a sense of crisis, none of this would have happened.
There are always clubs in 24th position in the English Football League; usually a manager will go, but it's rare that there are reshuffles in the boardroom. Honestly, I think it's a job well done for all involvedQCFC BANTAM, WilsdenBantam, Naz Nomad and 5 others like this. -

Thanks for everything you have done @JonButterfield.
You had a really tough decision to make and I believe you called it right.
We have some evidence that things are changing : the return of Rhodes, backroom staff change, the Henry signing and DH vocally criticising recruitment. Whatever you have been told I think it does show respect for Bradford City, the club we all support, to take it on trust. I hope that trust is not misguided. We have been let down enough over the last eighteen months.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... If this is true then the club owe us information immediately otherwise it just looks like another totalitarian mission to crush dissenters. The word on social media is that there is an announcement tomorrow about Rahic leaving, should that fail to happen we should get it going again. There's been enough cowards on and off the pitch revolving around Bradford City without us adding to it

Firstly, well done to @JonButterfield for taking on the organisation of the fly by and for responding to the changing circumstances by taking the decision to cancel it. The decision to cancel was not a 100% right or 100% wrong decision, but one based on the balance of probabilities, given the evidence presented to him.
And regarding that evidence, it is very clear to me, that whilst there are noises coming from various people within Valley Parade, the main one is Julian Rhodes. It is he who has been talking to various supporters (as reported by WOAP) and it is he who, no doubt, has laid out the current decision making structure within the Club to those supporters.
Terminating someone's involvement in a business is often complicated and can take some time; I'm not sure we can expect an announcement as early as tomorrow, but I do hope that it won't be too long coming; the Club will know that this needs to be concluded as soon as possible, so that we can all move on.
There can also be little doubt that the supporters have played a large part in the changes that are taking place at the Club, and that the strength of feeling amongst supporters has been very effectively conveyed to those in power at Valley Parade towers. For us, of course, it really is a 'Matter of Heart'.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...QCFC BANTAM, broadsword, CT Bantam and 5 others like this. -

Maybe the cancellation / postponement was to save face in front of 20 friends from Germany?
How would it look to them with the crowd baying for both German owners to get out of the club.
Highly embarrassing no doubt...Two Legs, Onside, bantamdave41 and 5 others like this. -
You dismissed the idea of doing anything other than writing emails or trying to engage in conversation. You probably had a lovely tour of the changing rooms/meeting with that little PR fella but the organisation of a fly over has lead the club to engage. So @JonButterfield you was held to ransom by the club?
I just don't understand how a flyover would not result in Henry signing. It's really hard to understand how a flyover would financially damage the club. In fact, I would not be surprised that Henry's signing coincided with our progress to round 2 of the FA Cup....
However, as you say the pressure was ramped up this morning suggesting ER was on the way out. So a condition, outlined to you by citysince67 or the club directly? Play ball or else?
Look Jon, I applaud your honesty and respect your decision and superb efforts in organising the initial idea. For the record, I would like to see the evidence you was presented with.
As for the monies, simply split across the two charities. Both very worthy.
Thank you for this post Jon. All the best.
