Flyover Cancellation

I have nothing but respect and pride for you Jon. Certain posters taunted you about the talk and that you would never do it. You stepped up, arranged it and got people organised. If not for the weather it would have happened weeks ago.

The only difference between now and then is a certain Mr Rhodes is back and trying to galvanise the club again. I think that must have some involvement in this.

I heard from 2 different sources today that Rahic was on his bike. One from just below Lawn's box who heard them say he was gone and would be announced next week. Another who knows one of the City diehards who posted the combined article on WOAP urging people to get behind the club and said basically the same.

If this is correct then think we've had an influence.

The club don’t come out of this with any credit whatsoever. To put Jon in that impossible position is nothing short of emotional blackmail and at such short notice, and not giving him enough time to properly reflect and consult with the other 63 contributors is shabby to say the least. We may have come to the same decision in the end, but it would not have left Jon having to explain to all in sundry why he cancelled. Like lots of things we were promised transparency, openness and honesty have been binned.

On a separate note, we appear to attract snowflake investors!!

R&R are responsible for the mess we now find ourselves in, and the reason for the protest in the first place.

You had a really tough decision to make and I believe you called it right.

We have some evidence that things are changing : the return of Rhodes, backroom staff change, the Henry signing and DH vocally criticising recruitment. Whatever you have been told I think it does show respect for Bradford City, the club we all support, to take it on trust. I hope that trust is not misguided. We have been let down enough over the last eighteen months.

Why on earth would a fly over effect a signing of a player?

So player isn't going to sign because of a banner wanting the owners out?

Sorry mate but it wasn't your money and the flyover should of happened. I think it's wrong what you did and you should refund everyone their money back.

People contributed towards something and he pulled it based on nothing factual. That to me is ripping the people that contributed off.

It also made fans look extremely weak.

 

Garbage!
The money is/will be safe.. it will be made available for future protests if required. There is also a groundswell of support for perhaps making donations of the money to worthwhile charities.
As for making the "fans look weak"... more garbage. It was a decision made after much soul searching it would seem... a decision based on information that we are not privy to at this moment in time.
It's just as well that breathing is a reflex action Fordy because I'm of the opinion that you would argue yourself out of breathing just for arguments sake if you could.

 

100% correct in my case Jon. That was never the point of the protest.
It was a very difficult decision you had to make, I can appreciate the stress you have been put under.

Even though it didn't happen the intent of it has started stirrings within the club.
In my opinion it was a very good call Jon.

 

It did absolutely nothing of the sort. What it showed was that when it becomes apparent a planned action could do more harm than good, 'the fans' (one fan actually), is strong enough and big enough to put a halt to it rather than risk jeopardising potential new investment that could help take our club forward. If a certain person had been strong enough and big enough to call time on some of his ideas over the past couple of years, we wouldn't be in the mess we are currently in.

Just got around to reading this and finding out about the reason for the cancellation.

Respect to JonButterfield for originally arranging this protest, and having to make the decision to cancel without having time to consult with the contributors.

For what it's worth, I agree with his decision to cancel, given what he has been told.

I think the flyover idea was a success, without it actually going ahead. It certainly contributed to, what seems like Rahic on his bike soon, and perhaps the masterstroke of bringing back Julian Rhodes.

So fair play to you JonButterfield.
