Flyover Cancellation

Contrary to popular belief the club's hierarchy are not members of this site and therefore had no way of contacting the organiser. We were therefore asked to reach out to Jon which we did. He was given all the facts as relayed to us and was asked for his co-operation. The situation was very difficult and Jon handled things in a very professional manner. For what it is worth this request to cancel did not come from Edin Rahic. However I believe the correct decision was made in the interests of the club.

I agree, in business you have to take the rough with the smooth but from City's point of view as a business that is trying to attract new investment they want to 'sell' the club and its potential in the most positive light they can. A busy stadium, great atmosphere and 3 points goes a long way towards doing that, I'm not surprised they didn't want the flyover to distract from that. Makes perfectly good business sense to me.

 

All this could be cleared up if we had a statement from the club telling us exactly what is going on instead of all the whispers it's getting very tedious now

The news passed on to Jon had better turn out to be true and compelling otherwise this is simply a postponement.

 

They aren't going to come out and say anything if negotiations are still ongoing.

 

I agree wih this and yet there were some on here and on social media that said the flyover was a waste of time and money. It quite clearly wasn’t. Yesterday felt like old times for the first time in a long time and one big factor in this was the belief that Rahic is on his way out. Lets hope this is indeed the case.

Absolute rubbish as usual. How does this show the fans are weak. The club knew what you were doing. The action was going to damage the club..Not the owners...and they reached out to you to ask you to cancel it. You had a voice which was taken notice of by the club. Isn't that what you wanted ?

It's weak because at this moment nothing is factual and because people like you say jump Jon said how high.

How would a flyover damage the club? How?

 

That is quite simply disrespectful to Jon. He didn't just cave in. He made a decision based on the facts given to him over a 2 day period.

Agree with the bottom part Fordy, i’d like to know how the flyover would damage the club? Quite ironic to say it would damage the club when the damage has already been done over the past 18 months. I don’t buy this theory that it would put off investment, anybody who is looking to invest in a football club needs thicker skin than that.

 

Thanks Jon. You made a grown-up decision and one which I would have made put in your decision.
It proves to doubters that most of us are true supporters of our club and want only what is best. I don’t want a lap of honour, I just want Rahic out.

I get why Rupp or Rhodes would not want a flyover in front of possible new investors but the issue of Rahic having some control now or in the future is still a concern. I will remain worried until he’s gone.

If this proves to be false, I would hope next time we will arrange a squadron of planes as just part of a protest. As a contributor I’m happy for the money to got to both of the said charities.

It does feel like just the booking of the fly-by has helped create the current change. That is some success.

The fans already are weak according to just about every post you’ve made for the last few weeks. If that’s the case then this shouldn’t really make any difference.

I’ve no reason to doubt the information that JB has been given. If it turns out to be tripe then the flyover can and should go ahead.

I am in no doubt that Jon handled this as a professional. I understand what you are saying, and accept that you acted as an intermediary. However, if it was so important to the club once you had introduced Jon to the heirachy, they could then go on to put their concerns. With great respect to your role in this, there was 63 other ppl behind Jon, and the very least we could have expect was that the club treat the whole of the 64 ppl with respect. Furthermore, they have known this was happening for weeks, the forcing of a rushed decision is something that does not sit comfortably with me.

So if Jon has been given false information then you suggest that people put their hands in the pockets again? What happens if Jon gets false information again?

Bottom line is Jon has not been given anything factual.

It's now about 4-5 days since Jon got this news and nothing has come out from the club. Nothing!
