So at 69 you are free to do as you please, and at 70 you are old, decrepit, and forced to be housebound ???
Bullshit

Given the fact that people are scared to even go to work it is going to be hard to convince people to attend a football match.
Of course before it is allowed to resume stringent measures will be in place and then it will be up to the individual whatever age or for that matter state of health to decide if they want to go.Stop hovering to collapse... I read that the average football ground seat is around 22 inches (55cm) wide. Have a think about it. That seems about right to me. If that is the case and I want someone to sit at least two metres away then there would need to be a 4 seat gap. That means 1 in 5 seats taken up in each occupied row. Not 1 in 3. So already we are down to 20%.
It has been suggested earlier that we need to leave at every second row empty. Think about how far away the one in front of that actually is. I would be surprised if you could keep two metres away even on the next row down but go with that. We're down to 20% on each row and now we have taken every second row out. That means we're at a maximum capacity of 10%. A long way off 25%.
That was just a number plucked out of the air by a politician. If we want to get 25% into stadiums then the government is going to have to change the two metre rule. Otherwise forget it.
It sounds like I am being negative. I want football to start again. I want people to be able to go to the match but there needs to be a lot more thought going into it before it can happen.Bronco, Dennis and Park bantam like this. -
And that's before clubs have to consider how social distancing is maintained in toilet areas, around kiosks and some kind of one way system to access the seating areas and how the entire regime is policed and what if anything has to be done at the end of the game as we all exit the stadium together. Imo, we'd all better get used to not watching football at VP for many months to come unless there is a major about turn by the Govt on any form of social distancing.
If there really is a workable plan to get fans safely into stadia to watch live football whilst maintaining social distancing, I'd put money on the Bundesliga to be leading on this. At this stage, there's no evidence of that. -

Should we force them to hide if they don't want to? The healthy are still obviously at a much much bigger risk from other things at that age than from Covid-19 - slipping on ice, falling down stairs, slipping in the shower, food poisoning, suicide, flu, stroke, infected scratch. Everything is dangerous at that age. Give them a break! Why should we force them to have miserable lives in hiding if the hospitals are doing okay? Is that why they suffered in WWII - so younger people could tell them they can't go see a football club they've followed all their lives? Nobody has enjoyed lockdown recently yet some young want to force old to stay because it's dangerous outside? Let healthy of any age in at their own risk. It barely registers as additional risk for healthy over 80s when so many will die from other stuff anyway. Advise the compromised not to attend - but even the over 80s compromised deaths with Covid-19 in English hospitals so far is still only around 4% of the total UK deaths in that age group each year. So long as hospitals can cope and there is no escalation in general infections that poses a rising threat to others, let old people have some pleasure if they wish. Let them meet their friends and have pint and a laugh. Just make it clear that the club is not liable for the result of any infection even if you could find some way of proving it. The UK suicide rate for over 70s is up 6-fold in lockdown. We need to start living again instead of worrying too much about dying.Jayteebee, Idlebantam and Faithful Bantam like this. -

Don't see any problem with distancing. Just tell anyone who asks you've driven 260 miles to get here and you've come to check your eyes before risking driving back. Easy innit.
