Morecambe fan in peace here. Let's be frank - you've probably got a decent budget still. Your season ticket sales alone will probably have been far greater than our entire budget last season.
But if Adams proved anything with us, money isn't everything!
The recruitment director getting the chop was not entirely surprising. Adams never struck me as someone who would want to delegate something that important, particularly to someone who was already at the club before he arrived and wasn't 'his guy'. Imo an expansion of the recruitment department that Adams would enjoy would be more scouts/analysts who follow his exact specifications and report directly to him.
Recruitment directors are there to think about the long term plan etc, while Adams is someone entirely focused on winning the next game of football. It was never going to be a good mix.
That said, Adams would presumably have had some say (even if he was reluctant on some players) on all of them, and a few of the signings are pretty clearly his choice entirely. Songo'o and Threlkeld are the obvious ones, but Angol and Ridehalgh also spring out - they both had very good games against us last season. Cook seems like one he'd have approved of as well, given he appears to have a few similarities to Stockton in his hold up play skills.
You're on a bad a run but that is probably a lot down to injuries. Even then, overall your results so far are probably mid-table, so nothing disastrous. The underlying numbers still look good (as they did for us for most of the season), and the goals will start going in at some point. Stockton missed a load of chances first half of the season, but Adams backed him and now look at him.
We never suffered anything like the injury issues you are having until the last couple of games of the season, but by that point the whole team was just so well rehearsed and laser focused on winning we managed to pull through.
So stop chucking your toys out of the pram! It's a long season. Adams is not a prolific long term planner at a club but he is completely focused on winning and good at it, despite a bad run. Some of the stuff posted on here is daft - he's completely worth backing to try and get you up.

Whilst not supporting the ridiculous Adams out view, I do though wonder whether managing a club with such high expectations, especially from a large fan base, as opposed to Morecambe, with the complete expectations and fan base, is proving harder than he thought?
I was expecting a side with a tougher backbone than we are showing at the moment.
It was very worrying how Barrow cut through our midfield at ease yesterday with players carrying the ball unchallenged frequently. The side is crying out for Songo'o and Sutton, are they both not match fit, or is Adams just being stubborn?
I don't think he will change his preferred formation.
I do think we are playing with two passengers in the side at the moment in Gillead and Evans, and it's time he shook them up.borderlescott, Bantam Boy, Allotment Bantam and 14 others like this. -
Everyone on here needs to give their heads a shake, sacking the manager will not change anything. What we need is stability and that can only come with time.
People need to remember that we are not some big shot club with cash to splash, we are just a ordinary 4th tier club who managed to hit the big time and then had a spectacular fall back down the leagues. Too many football fans on here who think they know better on how to run a football club. Stick to FIFA and let the people who are in charge get on with the job.baggers, Bantam@{Lancs}, Gardscoigne and 13 others like this. -

Talk of Paul Cook, Steve Evans or anybody else is immaterial until the club is fixed. Grayson, Collins, Hopkin, McCall and Trueman and Sellars have done nothing and Adams is hardly pulling up trees. Either all of them are wrong or the club is.
Fix whatever is wrong with the club and a manager might succeed. There’s one constant in the period. A bloke sat in Germany. I’ll accept none of the platitudes about him saving the club, keeping it alive, where would we be without him or the worst of all, nAmE Me SOmeOne ELse WhO wILl bUy Us. Part of my problem with the current set up is there isn't a single player, coach, manager, official etc at the club that I actually like and would be sorry/ gutted if they left.
In the past, and not so distant past, there would at least 3 or 4 that I would be sorry to see go.
Now there isn't a single one who I would give a stuff over, including Cook who gives me the impression he doesn't care who pays him.
This club has too many players with the Eoin Doyle attitude and not enough with the Greg Abbott I guarantee you in ten years time there won't be a single player in the current squad who is being interviewed by the T&A about his time at City, including the so called CEO.
We need epoch builders like Parky, Stuart, Abbott, before we can put any spine back into this club.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Ponty City, ConnecticutBantam, River_City_Bantam and 10 others like this. -
Given the absolute melt down on all media channels. Given the absolute implosion of the "Derek Adams project". Given the "acquisations" of a sheer lack of effort by this totally inadequate group of players. Given the unacceptable position of this once honourable football club. Given the absence of the actual Owner the custodian charged with all responsibility for the club on and off the field. Given the particularly "sensitive nature" of the relationship between the club and its supporters now and past. Given that all evidence points to Bradford City being the first former Premier League club (yes read that again) to exit the English Football League in the very near future. Given all that and more !
Now is not the time for Ryan Sparks to hide in the "bunker" he must front up and explain properly just what the hell is happening to this club on his watch? No spin no double speak no 'jam tomorrow" messages; No new seats; entrance tunnels; stand sponsors. No more January garbage transfer windows ! No what the supporters need to know and now ! Is how and when Bradford City propose to extract itself from the total mess it has gotten into ? Entirely I might add of the creating of the current owner and his regime over the past 5 dreadful years. So head up my friend over to you and good luck.Mike Hunt, ConnecticutBantam, Fordy117 and 10 others like this. -

I know the logic is you make decisions based on results, success, progress, form, style etc but it is increasingly striking me that with Adams he is just not the right fit for the club. There is a distance, an arrogance and aloofness that just doesn't feel right.
There is a lack of enjoyment, excitement and no general feeling of happiness surrounding the club at present that transcends the simplicity of results.
With Stuart I emotionally sad that it didn't work for him but Adams...well there is just nothing. My apathy and lack of attachment to the club is growing. We have had many poor teams over the years and frustration and anger have been common themes but with this lot....nothing.
I hate feeling like this, I want to feel passion again (be it good and bad) but it is so difficult under the current regime. Hope some of this makes sensePonty City, Green Team Leader, BradfordBanter and 9 others like this. -
This is all Rupps fault, we were on the up when he joined all we needed were a few extra players and boom we’d have been a championship side.. but nope him and the other prick decided to screw us over and within 3 years took us back 40 odd years..
Adams IS the man for the job but Rupp needs to fork out to fix the mess HE allowed his mate to put us in… You get nowhere without taking risks.. come on Stefan take a risk and get us out of the mess YOU allowed to happen.Bantam75, YungNath, Inner City Sumo and 8 others like this. -
All we get are excuses and platitudes. I'm very much of the view that Adams needs to be given at least this and next season. However, things need to improve quickly.
Has anyone watched the 'Making Macclesfield' documentary on BBC?
Earlier this year, you have an entrepreneur buying a dead football club, whose stadium had been mothballed and which had no operational or playing staff. Within 3 months, he'd fitted a 4G pitch (which the public can rent), a gym and a quality bar/restaurant open to the public. He's made it profitable within 3 months from a standing start. He's recruited a DOF, a Manager and Assistant, back room staff and a playing squad. All from scratch. They're 2nd in their league. Because he was massively interested and worked to make it happen, investing strategically to make a huge difference in quality.
This idea that you can't transform a lower league club very quickly is nonsense.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Inspector, The Evidence, Dennis and 8 others like this. -

Listen to Adams interview last night it's clear to me he hasn't had a say in the majority of these players.
Adams is playing with the cards he's been delt with by Sparks and Turnbull. Shafted more like. And not for the first time this season our Manager isn't happy or impressed with how this club is run. Totally understandable. I'm not either.
So our past is coming back to bite us.
Captain Admin... Gives the CEO job to a nobody with no experience in running a football. Now Sparks is hiding because this season is a mess of his own doing.
He better hope and pray Adams stays and can keeps us up. There's no promotion this season.

I honestly couldn't give a monkeys about dialogue. Weve had dialogue before. At best, empty and naive sentiments, at worst outright lies.

What I'm saying is, he inherited a shit show. Port Vale have shown that if you're organised properly, you can transform your side fully in a single summer. We weren't organised properly, and I doubt the extent to which he was backed. How much of the recruitment decisions - such as selling Crankshaw and signing Robinson, was down to him? I don't have a problem with him loaning out the youth either - with the exception of Staunton, they aren't ready yet. Injuries - again, are we signing sick notes? Is the training and sports science dept up to scratch? Adams says he's using the methods he's always used and never had the problem before. So, again, the problem seems deeper - as it usually is with this club.
What I'm saying is, there are no more excuses - he's had time to assess his squad, he's now been given control of recruitment, he's deployed his own scouts. So the ingredients are there for him to go and strengthen properly in Jan. What would bringing a new manager in do? It'd reset the excuse clock, that's what itd do. And thats what I'm against.
If he's backed in Jan and there's no improvement, then its on Adams and he may need to go.
If he's not backed, its on the club. And whichever manager replaces Adams, they have the same limited tools to work with anyway, so whats the point?
Until we show some proper ambition and capability- which starts with the owner, I don't see us going anywhere. We're a pointless, embarrassing entity.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse...
