Cheers for the positive responses guys. Another point worth making is that Adams had half a season to really see which players would work well under him and what areas of the squad needed revamping. He even had a couple of months before January to see what needed immediate attention.

For example, he had time to see Mendes-Gomes rip it up in training for a few weeks and absolutely smash it in a few reserve games before putting him into the first team.

Would have been difficult still as he was trying to grind results out of a team in free-fall at the time, but that extra bit of time to weigh the squad up properly would have been pretty valuable.

Yep, I really miss the glory days of 2007-2011 under Lawn's direction. Those were true Bradford City teams.

    Just leaving this here….

    Suggests we could be second.

Highest xG for GF in the division. We are crying out for a quality striker to convert the chances.

But that needs a quality striker. And they don't come cheap. If you are signing ones other clubs don't want its not rocket science to predict it will go tits up.

The problem is that we have strikers who are injury prone, or who have a history of being substitutes.
Robinson has 264 starts (as a 32 year old that is low), but another 195 from the bench. His career average is 0.22 goals per league game. So around 10 a season. He is however in the twilight of his career.
Angol is younger and should be approaching the peak of his career. His goal ratio is marginally better at 0.24 per league game (so an average of 11 a full season). Given injury he has only made 95 starts and 53 substitute appearances.
Lavery is coming up 29. A mere 98 starts, but 108 from the bench. His goal scoring rate is 0.17 per game, or over a full league season just under 8!
The common factor is that they do not have a high number of starts, have a history of low ratio of goals to games and have all suffered injury.
If we had one other striker, to challenge/compliment Cook on an average of 15+ per season, making say 40+ league starts, then we may well be in a far better position.
Should we be signing a number of players who are injury prone? Perhaps one, but more than that?
Investing in one other quality striker, perhaps only two in addition to Cook and a fourth being a loan from a Premier/Championship side, may make far more sense.

Oh yes, never knowing if we needed to turn up at VP or Odsal or if Lawn had sold the seat out from under us and leased it back.

Yep. It’s progress of sorts though as we didn’t create these chances last year and fared poorly on xG graphs.

We need a reliable finisher - only realistic hope now is to take a young kid on loan and pray he’s a decent finisher? Tough situation to rectify

So what happens if Adams walks or gets sacked? He’s been appointed to make changes in all departments.. What about if the next manager wants to implement his own ideas?
The clubs structure shouldn’t just be designed by the current manager.

I full agree. It will be a massive mistake by the club. Huge!

Ah well that's simple. When it goes tits up, we'll give Stuart McCall a ring and ask him to help out. And when that turns to shit, we'll decide its time to think about the long term, we'll hire a DoF type or recruitment director and decide that Trueman has acquired the experience to come in as a modern, forward thinking coach. Then, when that goes to the wall, we'll bin off the recruitment director and hire an old school manager to run the job lot and sign a few 6'4 shit houses who run around a lot. Then when it doesn't work, we'll give Stuart a call....

Our CEO is extremely quiet last week or so after being so vociferous for ages. Keep us still informed please even when times are bad.
