If Lincoln make a half decent offer we should cut our losses and let him go.

If Payne goes, we need much better than McCartan replacing him.

I think most of those comments from Lincoln fans are right.

I agree. Lovely goal yesterday but we need more that a lucky wonder strike. We need a hard working player, who plays for the full 90. He used to fade when he played for us, I thought it was lack of fitness, but clearly he is fit now, plus he doesn’t want to come back so the last thing we need is a sulky player who will not like the fitness regime that is now the norm here.

That's all he is worth. We paid way over the odds for him, so we will have to take a big hit on him to get rid

Yep. Moving on the shite from the Rahic era will come at a price. We need to think in terms of damage limitation. If we get 50k for him, and pay up 30-50% of the contracts for the likes of Riley, Wright, Jones, it’ll sting - but it’s still freeing up some funds to help what we need to do now - but both in terms of what’s needed now and for the summer rebuild, it’ll cost Rupp a pretty penny.

And from what I hear, Rupp is looking to sell in the summer. If he is....he’s talked of propping the club up for now, which no doubt he has and he seems like an honourable man who genuinely regrets letting Rahic loose on the Bradfordian public, but how much will he actually be willing to put in to strengthen us now...? Just enough for staying up would be my bet. And if we gamble on what ‘just enough’ is, we could come a cropper

If we are paying up 50% of their contracts it doesn’t free anything up as some of them have over 12 months left so we will be giving them at least 9 months wages, somif anything it is reducing what we have available to spend

True. The figures were arbitrary to be honest. I just meant that it's better to cut our losses and take a hit than for the likes of Wright and Riley to not be involved at all.

The fitness regime you have now is on a par with what he's had to get used to under the Cowleys.

Think I’d prefer to see Wood played higher up the park than trust McCartan. Just haven’t seen anything in the boy to suggest he’s good enough.

Much like Poleon (who scored yesterday) he may have found his level.

Or, like some of the others in the current squad, he may benefit from decent coaching and some fitness.

His ‘assests’ are worth far more if the club remains in League 1 than if it is relegated.

In respect of McCartan, then It doesn’t look like he could replace Payne, when he was at City the role which Payne plays, was more akin to that of Reeves, but there is another story!

But we have to balance not reducing our spending capabilities in this window due to paying off their contracts. Maybe better for us to wait until end of season and then pay them off. Let them sit it out for a few more months and they may reduce what they want from us

It’s a balancing game. Hypothetically, but suppose Wright is on ~3k per week as has been suggested. I can’t see anyone being daft enough to pay that. A club may come in, willing to take him on, but only willing to pay 1.5-2k. We may be forced to contribute at least some of the rest. A shambles all ends up, but if it allows us to go out and get someone, so be it.

Just an illustrative example, but it’s the sort of pill we’ll have to swallow, such is the madness of how Rahic blew lots of money on the wrong players.

It is but my point is if we are paying him out even £1k a week for the last 18mths of his contract then that gets paid now so £78k. Which is the same as paying him £3k a week for 6 months so we wouldn’t free anything up to sign anyone this season. It would free up for next season but not for now

It would present short term financial pressure, for sure. So Rupp would have to foot the bill. A risk. But the flip side is; we stay burdened with those players and so suffer the limited value they offer, perhaps have to pay more in the long run, and maybe even go down and and up with a less valuable club. Maybe any settlements could be phased in terms of their payment.

If these players we're looking to move out - in some cases just a few months after signing them - are on the salaries being mooted, we're going to have to take a financial hit to move them out.

Today's T&A says he's staying at Lincoln till the end of the season.

As stated earlier T&A say he is now there for the season. I can understand why we wouldn't call him back with the state of or bench. Is it because we cant afford his wage? Maybe we cannot have the luxury of two number tens; Payne and McCarten. Which would mean we have Payne for the season.
Most players return immediately after the last game when there are on loan, don't they?

Apparently Wright is on more like £4.5-5k and Riley £5-5.5k a week, Isherwood £2k. This from the same HP that told me what Kai was on well before WOAP published it. The salaries Rahic agreed to are mental.

This is an absolute disgrace, handing out salaries like this!! No wonder we are broke. I could tolerate it if we were in the top six and they were contributing, but we are not and they have to find another club.
