If they buy him - then great, more money in the pot

Strangely, this shows the value of signing youngsters on long term deals as even if they don't work out, if another club wants them they have to pay

 

Do you honestly think we would get anywhere near what we paid for McCartan. He has been an expensive flop for us

 

and probably be paying part of his wages while he's on loan.

 

as well as paying part of Jones and Gibsons wages for them to not play for their loan clubs!!

Lincoln might fancy buying him, but Id suggest at a massive loss on the £200,000 we were alleged to have paid for him.
Young or old that's not the best way to do business, should we put that down to the power crazy German/Bosnian.

 

£50k tops. Anymore would be a bonus.

 

Then it would be a question as to whether the value of his sale is better than the value of him helping us get promoted. We will need his type of player as I Payne won't be here and I doubt Clarke will be

 

i wouldn't be surprised if he ended up leaving and signing for Lincoln on a free transfer.

 

I hope Lincoln sign him to be honest, his comment the other month was not exactly complementary to our club, but a clean slate and a new start come June/July, the sooner this seasons over the better.

 

I’d be surprised if Lincoln want him permanently now.

He can’t get a sniff at the moment - in the games I’ve followed at least - and they’re going up to League One, a league he flopped badly in previously.

 

Two of his last 8 appearances were starts. Six off the bench. Did score last week tbf but a peripheral figure since turn of the year.

It seems since their 1-0 win over Grimsby on 19th January, in which he was subbed off for D Rowe, he’s since been benched more than he’s started. Rowe started the next game (2-2 draw with Yeovil).

McCartan was back in to start for their draw at Notts County but subbed off at HT. H Anderson came on for him. Shay was benched again next week, as he has been for their three subsequent wins and a draw he’s played in.

I don’t know if he has been injured in between but it seems a midfielder of theirs, Bruno Andrade, has recently stepped up and been bagging goals to support the prolific John Akinde. Andrade has scored seven since Feb....i don’t watch them or follow them closely enough to know for sure but my guess it is this lad who has replaced him?

Just don’t think McCartan is a key man for them at all and if they buy him it wouldn’t be as a guaranteed starter. So any suggestions of recouping our fee would now be rather optimistic?! They aren’t gonna spunk 200k on a sub. He’s been an unused sub three times lately........

 

Why on earth did we not go for Akinde...?
