Went to a gig in Leeds last night and ate beforehand at the snappily titled, 'The Restaurant, Bar & Grill' in City Square. It was excellent.
I had a very tasty tuna tartare starter, with avocado and soy wasabi dressing.
Other half didn't have a starter but had tikka spiced sea bass, plus French style peas, shallots & cream, which she said was very good.
My main was slow roast crispy duck with wok fried pak choi and sesame seeds. Plus a side of chips. This was truly gorgeous. Beautifully cooked and possibly the best tasting duck dish I've ever had.
With a very decent bottle of Nero D'avola (£22.75) the bill came to £95.04, including £8.64 service charge. The service was friendly, helpful and prompt, without being in your face.
For three dishes and a bottle it's a bit on the pricey side. But it was just what the doctor ordered. We will undoubtedly go back there again.

Had a couple of nights away in Helmsley. On one night we went to the enticingly named Bantam Restaurant (well it would be to a City supporter). A number of sharing plates on offer and they were very tasty, well cooked, a good mix of flavours. A large airy space, which was fairly full. Interesting wines by the glass. I would certainly recommend a visit if you are in the area. https://www.bantamrestaurant.co.uk/menu-2

From someone who isn't into poncy shite so take my opinion with a pinch of salt, went to the Causeway Foot inn at Ogden, only about 10 minutes from our house.
Had the fish & chips, as did the wife and my lad, my brother had the chilli. Food was bang on for my simple palette. Very busy and had to book but the wait of an hour for the food was probably too excessive. On the plus side we won the pub quiz, god knows how which paid for half the night.

We decided to eat only once at the Shaven Crown as we wanted to find a pub with a big screen on Tuesday and Wednesday..

    So..#

The Shaven Crown is a 700 year old building in the heart of the Cotswold village of Shipton Under Wychwood.

    upload_2018-7-12_16-6-17.png

It was red hot on Monday evening so we dined Alfresco..

    The wife's starter..

Feta, Watermelon & Basil Salad £6.50

    upload_2018-7-12_16-8-9.png

Light and refreshing she said.. not my preference but she enjoyed it.

    My starter..

Crispy Cod Cheeks, Confit Chorizo, Cauliflower & Fennel £7.50

    upload_2018-7-12_16-11-58.png

    Delish!!.. the sauce was incredible.

    Wife's main..

Crispy Buttermilk Chicken, Skinny Fries, Chipotle Mayo & Heritage Tomato Salad £15

    upload_2018-7-12_16-15-30.png

Layers of white and dark meat which is tasty to me but the missus likes her white meat so was less than impressed. But a reet plateful for the money.

    My main..

Rosemary-skewered Lamb, Crispy Shoulder, Cannellini Beans, Artichoke & Salsa Verde £21.50

    upload_2018-7-12_16-21-36.png

This was great.. the rosemary skewerd lamb was slightly tough but full of flavour. The breaded, crispy shoulder melted in the mouth and there was a mix of great flavours from the accompaniments.

We were both full and slightly intoxicated so passed on pudding.

I was drinking pints of Hooky Ale and the missus was downing San Miguel.

Total bill for food and drink £78.50.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I had dinner, bed and breakfast at the Yorke Arms in Ramsgill, Nidderdale on my birthday. It wasn't a special birthday but it's a place we've talked about going to for years so we decided to push the boat out and do it.
We went for a five mile walk before checking in and arrived like drowned rats after getting caught in heavy rain. They weren't sniffy about this and happily showed us to our room as we dripped on their (recently refurbished) decor. The room was very pleasant and the bed large and comfortable.
You get a choice of the five or the eight course tasting menu with the DB&B package so, obviously, we chose the eight. Two of the courses were meat but they replaced those with fish/veg at short notice for my wife, who is pescetarian.
What can I say? It was all very lovely Michelin star nouvelle stuff. Everything was beautifully presented in the typical MasterChef manner. But I'd expect at least some of a tasting menu that costs £110 pp (without the room or drinks) to blow me away, and none of it did. It was very nice, but no more than that.
With wine, coffees and pre/post meal drinks the whole shooting match left no change from £500.
The feel of the place was pretty relaxed. The service was good without being intrusive, and we had a pleasant experience. But it's not one I'll be forking out to do again at that cost. File under 'slightly underwhelmed'.

Indeed, yet what an interior! Should be cleaned up and lit properly, with that ceiling (aesthetics and height) and pillars that pub could/should be Bradford's classic upmarket boozer, the equivalent of The Adelphi, Victoria Hotel or Whitelocks in Leeds....................but where is the clientele?

Thanks @marshy77@marshy77 and @Idlebantam@Idlebantam. In the end we walked from the Railway at Calverley Bridge along the canal side to Apperley Bridge and up to the Cracker Barrel. As it was raining we did not go onto Idle, but had a couple of beers and then to Kiplings. A decent curry, with nice murals on the walls and clouds on the ceiling! Then back to Horsforth and a beer in the Old Kings Arms and Town Street.

Who are these people eating out for dinner every day at work? What's wrong with packing up some sarnies? Quid a day, tops.

Went on Friday night and it was a good as ever. Service was great too, couple of younger lads serving but the lads that have always been there were there watching over everything. Curry was really good.
