It appears to me that somebody at VP towers has been speaking with a forked tongue!

Encouraging ST sales with a message that promotion is the club's expectation has been exposed for what it really is. If the words aren't supported with the right actions (in this case providing the manager with a 'promotion sized' budget) then it has been a cynical approach just to sell more STs. That might have worked once but it doesn't increase trust between the club and its fans. The club is now treating its loyal fans as mugs!

I think Sparks is naive. I get the impression that because Adams succeeded with Morecambe on a limited budget that Sparks saw him as pretty much a sure thing and went overboard.

What he's got to realise is that will have consequences further down the line if the success doesn't follow.

Bought a club on the verge of the championship and turned it into a midtable league 2 side within 3 years.

    With saviours like that....

DA's early tenure here is getting a slightly Hopkinques feel to it.
I've not yet formulated any firm opinion of him, however, he's in danger of alienating himself.
So far, all I hear from his comments is every problem is everyone else's fault and not his.
Slating young players that weren't even in the first team squad was particularly disappointing to hear.
It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't see the season out here.

If Sparks had been honest and stated this during the season ticket push then I feel the criticism would have been much less.

As it stands, as a Season Ticket holder, I feel like I've been completely misled about our true position and I'm sure the feeling is shared by many of our supporter base.

The overriding point then being one of mistrust and from that all the negativity projected at the club and the eventual loss of future support.

I don't know whether Sparks is naive or not. He is certainly inexperienced in football. Of more concern however is that he is currently playing a dangerous game. If we don't achieve promotion having increased ST prices in conjunction with the promotion dream, the season will be judged a failure by many fans. Some of the responsibility for the failure will attach itself to his own shoulders. That won't be forgotten by the fans.

And that is why we won't be emulating what Bolton did last year. We've got no money left to make the changes necessary in January, rupp has turned the tap off and we've got nobody of any value to sell.

Would it? You think that the match going public are seeing their money represented in the squad that's on offer? You don't think that maybe the fella who's worth £300m quid and bought the club could be coughing up to improve things instead?

Its not a charity Bronco, its an entertainment service. The quality is terrible, the ambition is non existent and the capability is very limited. Give me value, and they'll get my money. They've had more than 20 years worth of season ticket money out of me and increasingly I have no faith in what's being done, and find going to VP a chore. I don't buy into any of the narrative any more. They've lost my trust. Simple as that.

Where did all the Mcburnie money go? Rupp isn’t out of pocket a penny since he took over the club. Not sure why we make excuses for him not spending every year

What an utter joke. Dennis has hit the nail on the head above.

cheap words from the club in the summer.

Adams must wonder why on earth he jumped ship now to join this floundering club with a disinterested owner.

Rupp out. Until he goes nothing will change. Drop the 10m asking price and just sell.

Sparks is happy to be public and providing a regular voice when we're winning games. Now that the shit has hit the fan he's nowhere to be heard.

Even with bigger budgets, we still sign shite players. Money is only part of the problem.

    Hammered by the pandemic?

The majority of matchday staff on furlough and raking in money through I follow sales? I bet we didn't lose anywhere near the amount you might think we have.

We don’t need to ask where it went we know. John dewhirst I think it was showed us all from the accounts where it went. Straight back to Rupp. Which other football clubs fans would sit back and watch an owner who has no interest in the club use it as part of his portfolio? He needs to go. You’ve proved my point in all of your post. We make excuses for him not spending because he has no interest at all. And people still say “where would we be without him?” Well I ask could it get any worse? We’ve dropped around 30 league positions, have zero sellable assets, still no own ground or training ground etc. The list goes on and on and nothing changes

An expensive underperforming squad that will be lucky to get promoted. If Rupp and Sparks think that’s ok and they’re not planning on spending more then I’m fecked if I’m buying anything from them.

    Works both ways.

It's all unravelling sooner than normal!!!

It's always easy to be bullish and optimistic before the season starts.....then the harsh truth emerges, both on and off the pitch.

But he has killed off the confidence of the youngster we have Staunton was judged on one match FCD has been ignored despite showing good form whilst deputising and can Scales be any worse than the back up strikers we have. Adams has been scathing of then undeservedly

This is what a lot fans don’t appreciate. Some will go week in week out and moan, others want to be entertained. Personally I don’t want to watch endless 2-1 defeats or 0-0 draws between two poor teams. Me spending another £200 isn’t going to change things.

Normal business, retail, you don’t sell what the customer wants or you sell poor quality tat the customers walk away. Musicians, films, theatres, if the product is boring buying more tickets or albums doesn’t help.

If Rupp was investing in a sustainable future for City, youth development, training facilities, the stadium, I’d do my fair share too. But he’s man who isn’t interested, why should I be interested? Football is unique, I’ll never change the club I support, but I want to feel my support is reciprocated. Fans and local businesses have done their fair share this summer. I feel that Sparks and Rupp have led us up the garden path.

We had a summer of promises and talk, for the first time in years it felt good to be a city fan, instead we got Theo Robinson, a panic buy worse the idiots queuing outside the Shell garage

In league one we’d have Sunderland, Wednesday, Pompey, Ipswich, Wigan. Decent teams of sorts and a good crowd. Instead it’s Barrow, Sutton and Harrogate, new grounds at least eh?

I think in Sparks and certainly Adams Rupp has the right people in place. I think Adams will need a season or two to sort it out though. Stefan’s asking us to fund the club back to where he found us like it’s our fault the club has ended up where it is. Maybe if he’s been more on the ball in the first place City wouldn’t be a mid table league two club.

Alternatively, could have bigged him up and added a few grand to the selling price!
