Playing Budget

It is, and I feel that is what has started to happen since Sparks became CEO.

Whether he is the right person remains to be seen, I'm still unconvinced the correct changes are being made and his track record with appointments hasn't been great.

 

Even with bigger budgets, we still sign shite players. Money is only part of the problem.

 

In which case, the club have done a good thing by releasing Turnbull of his contract. But of course the question is, who thought he would be a good asset to the club in the first place? Simple fact in my eyes, is that we've got people running the club who don't really know what they are doing. I think this is now sinking in for DA that he's been sold down the river and he's not happy about it.

 

It stretches back further than Turnbull. We were relegated from League One with (i believe) the 3rd largest budget in the league. Certainly our biggest budget for years.

I say 'budget'. 'Spend' would be a better word, as it clearly wasn't agreed as the budget!!!

 

Can take ages to turn it around, it doesn’t happen overnight. You can tell people to be positive and solution focussed and you can have as many workshops, seminars and one to one coaching as you like but sometimes people just won’t change. Sparks has to live it, I say I’m judged from the way I park my car/leave my bike in the shed to the way I close my door on the way home. It takes time for the right mentality to permeate through the business. About three to five years and a lot of departures in our case.

 

Remember when we put all our eggs in one basket that January by paying ridiculous money to extend Payne's loan? As has been said, money/budget is not the issue per se, it is how it is being spent and over the last few years, the club has shown that it is not very good at it.

 

Don't even get me started on "you've loaded the dishwasher incorrectly"!
I guess DA is just starting to get used to the way things are done at Bradford City - and that includes putting the "forks in the knife rack".

 

The lack of loan market usage is an issue for me also. higher clubs usually subside wages but we couldn’t find a better potential loanee forward and number 10 as an alternative to the the Robinson spend?
Is DA opposed to loan signings in his history? Feels a little cut your nose off stubbornness like Stuart refusing to sign anyone on a free

Crankshaw being sold to Stockport will add something to the budget......

 

Makes me wonder we are in big trouble financially…

Its a combination of both. There's an obvious correlation between budgets and where teams tend to finish, but its not a hard and fast rule. Capability to spend money wisely is also a key factor.

 

Adams strikes me as a poor man's Fordy.
