I don't think I suggest that Steve, in fact I suggested the opposite as I posted there is nothing between the two players vying for the shirt, IMO Threlkeld is hardly the first name on the team sheet.

 

But he has killed off the confidence of the youngster we have Staunton was judged on one match FCD has been ignored despite showing good form whilst deputising and can Scales be any worse than the back up strikers we have. Adams has been scathing of then undeservedly

No he hasn't he's seen what they offer and in his opinion its not enough to get a start, when your the one who's job is on the line to get results you pick players you believe will deliver, Tuesday night did the kids no favours.

 

If Threlkeld hadn't been injured, Cousin-Dawson wouldn't have had that run in the side to show what he is capable of in a first team environment. He'd have been written off this season and bracketed with Sikora, Scales and Staunton as available for loan.

You can't throw them in to a ten change side, for one game only, and say "they've had their opportunity". If that's the case, how can Adams justify persisting with certain "non performers" week after week?

 

But Threlkeld did get injured and was replaced by FCD, I haven't seen anything from Threlkelfd that suggest he's a regular starter but that is my opinion obviously not shared by Adams.
He wouldn't have been thrown into ten change said as he would have been straight back in the right back position once he returned from International duty.
I actually agree with the highlighted bit, but given the situation on Saturday tell me who you'd have started, I'm not sure he had much choice Hornby, Foulds, Staunton, Sutton, Crankshaw, Cousin-Dawson, Scales.

 

Let’s not forget these were kids who showed patches of promise but nothing more, and at a time when the team was failing in a grander scale than we are now.
Maybe a perfect example of settling for or accepting mediocrity over the years!

Very true and the situation arose because we had a small squad, McCall saying he preferred a small tight squad, was that because we weren't making any more signings so he took the flack.
As you say they showed promise but the goal this season is promotion you don't throw kids in and hope all will come good, he's seen them in training and the Papa John Trophy and doesn't believe they are ready for league football, why would he play them in the run were in at the moment, maybe Sutton for Evans because he's far more mobile but Scales to partner Cook do me a favour, even though Sikora is a big lad he's not ready for first team football.

 

I doubt we'll win.

As for forgetting if we do win, not a chance. Adams hasn't been a happy chap from the start of this season. Something stinks.

 

Off the top of my head, Staunton for Kelleher, Sutton for Watt/Evans, Crankshaw for Gillead, Cousin-Dawson for Threlkekd. Points wise couldn"t have done any worse. In 30 minutes Crankshaw provided an assist, something Gillead hasn't done all season. The Radio Leeds commentator reckoned he'd done well. Adams, of course, thought otherwise. Well, he would, of course, because the next question would have been "Why didn't you start him?" He keeps picking the same underperforming players and we can't buy a win. The morale of some players in that squad must be rock bottom.

 

No he hasn’t Staunton had on match after injury after impressing last season FCD did well and was called up and hasn’t come back and as I say scales can’t be worse that Robinson. I am not calling for players to be picked on anything but merit just give them a fair chance

I can see the the first thread on here come 4:50 Saturday evening "City lose playing the kids" it would have been carnage.
So out of the kids were talking putting Staunton in along side Paudie, and Sutton for Evans/Watts which I posted and I also said I prefered FDC to Threlkekd, Crankshaw is not one of our kids which is the debate.
I believe he's playing the "underperformers" because he's hoping on the day they perform to their actual ability, you either make dramatic changes or hope you play players back to form Adams is doing the later because he obviously doesn't think the kids are up to league two football.

 

I agree with @Bronco here Finn in for Threlkeld weakens us and while Kelleher is pretty poor I didn't buy into the hype around Staunton last season

Sorry but these kids aren't good enough to invest time developing if we have a bunch of injuries then sure why not but calling for Sikora and co to get game time really is writing off the season

It's still early days and once our forwards get back to fitness we'll do better

 

Adams can't base his judgement on last seasons performances he wasn't the manager, so he can only base it on what he's seen so far in training and game time unfortunately for the players you mention it was the Papa John Trophy in which we got beat 3 - 0 against Man Utd U21s and 3 - 0 against Lincoln City hardly inspiring performances.
I've said I prefer FDC to Threlkekd, are we basing our success or lack of it on that sort of comment "scales can’t be worse that Robinson", think the lad Robinson has had around 10 minutes actual game time so not sure how you can judge a player on 10 minutes.

 

I get the impression he is trying to make a point in not including them in his first 16 doesn’t like his opinion being questioned does our Derek does he

 

Didn't we play Adams's "full strength" side against Lincoln, because Lincoln played their full strength team?

 

So much for needing a link coach lol I know Trueman is no longer link coach but how must he feel now knowing that his good work with the youth team is being peed on by Adams

Might as well get rid of him too while we're at it let Adams do everything all by himself since Sparks is already rolling over and having his tummy tickled

While I don't think we should be ramming the young ones in and pretending it's an improvement Adams is coming across a bit like Hopkin IMO
