Plus the subsidies that flowed down from the PL clubs.

Theres a reason no club bar 2 or 3 have spent money in this league. Most transfers (including us) have been frees.
Dover in national league packed up last season as it would have bankrupted them to carry on.

you might have forgotten that city voted to end the season early in 19/20.

rupp has ‘conveniently’ stopped adding the budget. I wonder if a global pandemic is the reason why.

granted we are lucky, bigger clubs can power through but do i think we would have more money if we didn't go through a pandemic? Probably.

It's only Stuart that thought there weren't any good free agents and it seemed peculiar when he used to say it

Not having this wait til January stuff at all no thanks get someone in now we've signed plenty of good free agents in the past Lee Hendrie and Jim O'Brien spring to mind

They might not be fit for the first game but we don't need to pretend they all need six weeks before they start everyone is different

Furlough and ifollow gave us a good and necessary lifeline. But the many games in front of no crowds lost us a huge amount of dosh from non-season ticket holders rocking up for games, money from match day souvenirs, food, drink, programme sales et al. And furlough paid the club 80 per cent of wages - that was another 20 per cent of cash the club still had to find. Whatever way you want to paint it, it put the club in a more difficult financial situation.

I'm not sure if you've noticed but no one ever spends money "in this league".

99% of signings are always free transfers or O.O.C players. The pandemic didn't change anything in that regard.

Did they? Care to ask @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler if he can confirm that the club made up every employees wage to the full 100%?

Absolutely agree Northern. But wages still have to be paid. Look, however you want to crunch it, the simple fact is that Bradford City Football Club, like all other lower league football clubs, have not done well through the pandemic financially and it's made them all to be in a much worse situation.

Plus depending on the contracts for the pitch side advertising etc there could have a loss of income from that.no income from banqueting, no income from renting banqueting suites out for weddings etc.
I know iFollow brought some income in but I don’t think it brought in the same amount as match ticket sales, commission on away tickets etc

Where did all the Mcburnie money go? Rupp isn’t out of pocket a penny since he took over the club. Not sure why we make excuses for him not spending every year

Just how many non season ticket holders do you think ‘rock up’ for games?
Oh and the 50 fans each from Salford , FGR, Harrogate, Barrow, Crawley, Morecambe would have been a massive boost, lol

Not really 80% of wages if true because maximum was £2500 per month for furlough

Plus you can't work or play if furloughed for your employer so non of the involved players was on furlough

Fully agree, it appears we have come out of the other side of the pandemic quite well but some clubs in our division and above must be living from day to day for survival, while in the premier they still appear to be living off the fat of the land.

Whatever hit was taken, applied across the league. So its relative. With the exception of moneybags Salford, its still a level playing field so however we fare this season, is entirely in the context of where we compare to other clubs.

Enough excuses - we accept mediocrity far too willingly.

Rightly or wrongly I do not accept mediocracy in any element of my life and sadly that sometimes makes me quite an unhappy person, especially as a Bradford City supporter.

Is this Mcburnie money coming out of Aladdins cave? How long can we keep asking about that?! Was seasons ago. I'd guess the Mcburnie money went partly to pay off the money Rupp has put into the club, and partly to pay the runnings of the club during a pandemic. I'd also guess that most of the McBurnie money was probably gone quite a long time before covid started to take effect. If all football clubs required minimum investment and made a decent return, don't you think there'd be a rush to buy one? Rupp would have buyers biting his hand off due to us being such a "massive" club, with a conveyor belt of young talent waiting to be sold with neverending and bottomless sell on clauses.

It's blindingly obvious that Rupp is a businessman, not a football fan. He's not like the owners Leicester have had, or Fulham etc. He has no connection to our fanbase. We're never going to have banners praising our board. When did he last even attend a match? He was originally in it, because his mad mate sold him the dream of making millions, and now its obvious that's not happening, he's just put us down as another "portfolio" on his spreadsheet. He's looking to take money out, not put any in.
