He was a bit of a headless chicken and his deliveries often frustrated, but the timing has surprised me. Maybe its a case of one in one out. We may have a free agent striker lined up?

And there were people saying we don't need a Director of Football let Sparks do it all yeah no thanks keep Sparks because he can make deals with his friends to sponsor new tunnels and new seats but he's no idea what he's doing with regard the football side and it's not a surprise either

But then Adams seems to be installing himself as a DoF so maybe it's academic lol

There is a balance though especially in lower leagues. You obviously want experience but experience usually means they don't have the ceiling to move up the leagues as they are usually on a downwards trajectory. With younger players, there is still room to improve. Manage them right and if you achieve what surely the aim is and get promoted then there is a much better chance of them being suitable for the division above than many experienced players (unless you are throwing silly money at experience championship or league 1 players to get them to drop down for a season or two).

And at the very least even if a manager wants rid of the youth we aren't in the 1980's anymore, ripping them to shreds especially in public is caveman level man-management. Just look at Luke Shaw, he looked finished as a player but get someone with some man-management ability and he is one of the first names on the United team sheet and was arguably Englands best player at the Euros

I don't think that was ever a realistic option with an owner like Rupp, Darragh MacAnthony is prepared to financially back Barry Fry and they have done well in the past, unfortunately Rupp is not the type of owner to do that.

You are both spot on and wrong, of course you do but it’s not football manager or fifa. Youngsters won’t just improve to the required level because they play games, they have to have the ability to get there as well. That’s where a manager has to make decisions, has this player got what it takes, if it was your job on the line would you play players not ready to improve them for someone else down the line? If Trueman had have stayed in charge then I’d have said fair enough, but it got him sacked so obviously the owner/CEO isn’t prepared to give a manager the time needed to bleed youngsters into the first team. The fault lies with the club not the manager, they have to dictate the philosophy and hire the correct people to see it through. Same with Jose you can’t blame him for everything that went wrong in his time with Untied, he wasn’t the right fit and shouldn’t have been selected in the first place or if you do select him back him 100% and let him get his own players in.

    Spitting facts.

what united did is get rid. It seems we are moulding the club to his needs; letting him get his own players in (in this case rid of) and the scouting/recruitment changes. Personally I believe moulding the club to him is the correct decision but I understand the other side of the coin.

I certainly don't want to be owned by someone who owes £223 million in taxes. recipe for disaster that. Imagine if they bought us then got wound up by HMRC for not paying their VAT or worse still ended up doing a stretch at HMP.

Rupp isnt a good owner but he's on the level. Too many Mel Morris's in football for us to risk being owned by one.

Peanuts compared with some of the current football owners.

Normally you would be right but these VAT payments were deferred due to the pandemic- not just for them, for lots of businesses too. I believe they have come to an agreement about a repayment schedule.

2 assists and 3 goals in 7 games but let's sell the guy that got one of those 2 assists.

    Yep, that makes sense.

    All about the money...

Thats one of a tough one? Richmond brought us something I never thought we would ever see at VP. He has that in his favour despite his ethics!

I don't think many of us are bothered that Crankshaw has gone in terms of skill lost, but its the manner and timing in which he left that has raised a few eyebrows. Coincidence that he was hung out to dry rather brutally, by his manager on the weekend, and three days later he's been shipped out? Perhaps, but I don't think so. Also leaves us with an even weaker bench that we had on the weekend, something I didn't think was possible. With DA not favouring the youth, he's either going to have to eat his words and put one of them on the bench, or leave it a man empty. Or perhaps someone is lined up to come in Crankshaws place. Someone identified by DA, seeing as Turnbull has also been shown the door. Problem with that is, whoever it is surely must be short of match fitness. Its taken Songo'o a month to almost get up to speed, probably the same timeframe for the new guy - whoever he maybe be, because there's not many out there. The October announcement is now turning into a must hear speech.

I actually think Crankshaw was worth persisting with, at least till January. He’s offered more than Gillead this season and while 2 assists doesn’t seem a great deal it’s more than the rest of our midfield. We can’t comment on his attitude or his work rate as we have no idea but I suppose we have to trust the managers decision on this one.
He hasn’t managed to break his way into the staring XI which I guess is telling but even looking at his stats during preseason albeit against some fairly weak opposition he could create chances.

Eisa. Who is he? Is he actually ever going to play? What's his injury and when is he coming back? I get it if he was almost ready to come back, pushing Crankshaw further down the pecking order, but considering the fact that Eisa seems to have gone totally AWOL in a Zeli Ishmael type fashion, it seems a bit mad to let someone go when we've got so many injuries. UNLESS someone is coming in. But if that was the case, I am pretty sure Sparks would have piped up with his klaxon at the ready.

For what its worth, I also thought Crankshaw was ok. At least he was direct and had a go. Aside from the assist he had on the weekend, he also set up a goal earlier on in the season with a lovely bit of footwork and close control in the box before delivering a lovely cross (can't remember who scored it - has to be Cook doesn't it). Way more effective than Gillead and Evans.

Good luck to him. Wonder if he was close mates with any of our other players and how popular he was in the dressing room. Can't think that him leaving is going to make the dressing room any more happier.
