Ah Niasse, I remember how for years he was one of the hot Wonderkids you had to pick up on Football Manager as he was both amazing and dirt cheap at the start of the game

That’s the issue when the club signs a manager who is against their philosophy, but United have a top academy with top talent we don’t. When we have youth a go last season we nearly ended up in non league, it’s all good Sparks giving it the big one talking about youth but he has no previous experience of running a football club and has already gone back on having a separate recruitment department. There is nothing wrong with managers in football wanting to have control over things it’s their job on the line, but these things need to be settled and agreed on before actually recruiting the manager.

Reading a Stockport forum, they knew the deal was happening at 9:05 this morning, after his records were amended on Jobs4football.com .... which seems to be a site for any kind of football job, but seems like some agents use it to update their clients records or help find clients new clubs. Cranskhaws profile was updated first thing this morning to say he's a Stockport player.

Their fans think he's been signed to play as a right wing back, as they are playing a 532 this season.

3….. What’s your point? His comments about Crankshaw were poor. That has nothing to do with his promotions.

And there were people saying we don't need a Director of Football let Sparks do it all yeah no thanks keep Sparks because he can make deals with his friends to sponsor new tunnels and new seats but he's no idea what he's doing with regard the football side and it's not a surprise either

But then Adams seems to be installing himself as a DoF so maybe it's academic lol

If he's a journeyman or injury prone, he'll likely be a target!!

Sparks has no knowledge of football, it’s evident. He may know business and marketing I don’t know I can’t comment on that, but we either need to let Adams call the shots on a footballing side or have a head of football, either way Sparks should stick to off field operations.

There is a balance though especially in lower leagues. You obviously want experience but experience usually means they don't have the ceiling to move up the leagues as they are usually on a downwards trajectory. With younger players, there is still room to improve. Manage them right and if you achieve what surely the aim is and get promoted then there is a much better chance of them being suitable for the division above than many experienced players (unless you are throwing silly money at experience championship or league 1 players to get them to drop down for a season or two).

And at the very least even if a manager wants rid of the youth we aren't in the 1980's anymore, ripping them to shreds especially in public is caveman level man-management. Just look at Luke Shaw, he looked finished as a player but get someone with some man-management ability and he is one of the first names on the United team sheet and was arguably Englands best player at the Euros

His comments about Crankshaw were a bit harsh I will agree, (by the way I was at the game) but it was more to do with his style of management.
A lot of fans used to have go at McCall who rarely criticised his players, now we have a manager who says it as it is and we still aren't happy.
Here's an interesting scenario, it gets to the end of the season, we've sneaked into the play-offs and done a Morecambe, will anyone remember him throwing Crankshaw under a bus?

Looking at the Stockport forum, they dont even think Crankshaw is coming in as a starter. They seem to think he will be back up cover on the right when they moved to a 343. Tend to start every match with a 532, then bring on wingers if they are chasing/drawing.

Just looked at their team, not being funny but that current Stockport side would probably do alright in L2.

I don't think that was ever a realistic option with an owner like Rupp, Darragh MacAnthony is prepared to financially back Barry Fry and they have done well in the past, unfortunately Rupp is not the type of owner to do that.

Not seen much to get aggrieved at this departure. Let's hope for a signing of a better calibre, coming through the door.

Not in Adam's opinion and whether we like it or not he's the man who counts.

I do wonder if we spend this money how we spend it, will we wait to jan or get a free in? if we are going for a free are we going to go for a league two player or a championship player, give them a few years of first team game time. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Jordan Ibe spring to mind :eyes:

Or is he going to go for another striker?

That doesnt fit the bash the club narrative. I agree with you, he's become a superstar whilst not playing and when he did he really didn't do much. Better than Gilliead mind, but I don't see it as a massive loss if it means someone else comes in.

One of the marginal players out ready for us doing a "Bolton" in January is the way I see it.
