I actually think Crankshaw was worth persisting with, at least till January. He’s offered more than Gillead this season and while 2 assists doesn’t seem a great deal it’s more than the rest of our midfield. We can’t comment on his attitude or his work rate as we have no idea but I suppose we have to trust the managers decision on this one.
He hasn’t managed to break his way into the staring XI which I guess is telling but even looking at his stats during preseason albeit against some fairly weak opposition he could create chances.

What basis have you to substantiate that suspicion? Have you been up to the training ground?

    Agree.

We're hardly scoring and recently haven't created that many clear cut chances. Now relying on injured players to come back in and be match winners.

October is going to be a hard long month.

His output was far too high

Adams is searching for a second Gilliead to bag us a few more scoreless draws

I’m still not convinced we’ve seen the last of Rhodes at City.

Not really bothered about crankshaft leaving, never really did much to affect things, manager obviously didn’t fancy him either.
Priority must be to get someone in to support/ partner Cook up top.

Eisa. Who is he? Is he actually ever going to play? What's his injury and when is he coming back? I get it if he was almost ready to come back, pushing Crankshaw further down the pecking order, but considering the fact that Eisa seems to have gone totally AWOL in a Zeli Ishmael type fashion, it seems a bit mad to let someone go when we've got so many injuries. UNLESS someone is coming in. But if that was the case, I am pretty sure Sparks would have piped up with his klaxon at the ready.

For what its worth, I also thought Crankshaw was ok. At least he was direct and had a go. Aside from the assist he had on the weekend, he also set up a goal earlier on in the season with a lovely bit of footwork and close control in the box before delivering a lovely cross (can't remember who scored it - has to be Cook doesn't it). Way more effective than Gillead and Evans.

Good luck to him. Wonder if he was close mates with any of our other players and how popular he was in the dressing room. Can't think that him leaving is going to make the dressing room any more happier.

Angol and Eisa both have the same type of injury don’t they?

From what I know he was popular among the players.
This will have stemmed from the post match interview I think.
Adams clearly isn’t happy with how things are with many things at the club, be recruitment, the squad and whatever else. He said himself he can see why the club has been a joke for the last couple of years. This is him wielding his axe IMO. Turnbull also a casualty.
I’d expect changes and expect that squad turnover next summer will be very high.
Are the players now training 6 days a week? I do wonder how that’s going down.

Just a guess. May be wrong. But it seems clear there was something going on between Adams and Crankshaw well before Saturday. Possibly the Stockport offer had come in last week before the game to put the tin lid on it.

    How?

One transfer window closed a month ago. The other doesn't open for 3 months.

Well one thing's for sure that Adams got right - we have been a complete joke for the last couple of years. I think much will depend upon how much Sparks and Rupp want to hear these truths so publicly from Dezza. And the pressure's really now on with him. Whatever, he has to start pulling some results together. Is this Bradford City? Of course it is! It's VP Deja Vu!

We're an EFL club. Stockport aren't and they are not subject to the same transfer rules. We can only recruit unemployed players until the transfer window opens.

    Oh dear....

Anyway, I was asking how we would get a replacement in. Not about anyone leaving.

And it's a sign of the times that a National League North side - that's Tier Six - have more budget and clout than City to take away one of our players. In Tier Five there are players at Wrexham, Chesterfield et al earning alot more than we have players on. Let's just start calling it is what it is - League Three.
