The worrying thing is that of those players only here to make up the numbers, quite a few of them are signings we made over the summer. The likes of Kelleher, Foulds, Lavery and Robinson and on showings so far, Gillead and Threlkeld , aren't good enough. That's half of the new recruits.

 

I agree. It would be easy to think Adams remarks on Saturday and what happened yesterday are linked but like you say, it wasn't that Adams singled Crankshaw out, he was asked about him and if he'd been asked about any other player, would probably have said the same thing. I don't know how true this is but I heard last night that apparently, Crankshaws agent has been tweeting about him being unhappy for over a month. If there is some truth to that, the problems have clearly been there long before Saturday.

 

I wouldn't say unwarranted. He's missed enough easy chances to be on a goal a game and have us in the autos.

 

Well it does seem odd that Simon Parker has quotes from him and runs an article about Crankshaw being positive and getting into the team then the very next day he's gone.

Perhaps someone at Stockport heard Adams and then decided to accelerate the talks they'd had with City and push through the transfer. Certainly anyone listening to Adams would say "well, he doesn't fancy Crankshaw so let's up the contract to 3 years and we'll get him"

Nah, this was on the cards long before Crankshaw left. I'd say it's more likely the freeing up of his wages will be used to strengthen the squad. The 3 new scouts will have to fight it out amongst themselves as to which one of them gets it.

Anybody else heard a rumour about Canavan not being injured? It was going around Midland Road at the Barrow game, thought nothing of it until this happened!

Yes, one of several rumours doing the rounds at the moment. The one recurring one is some very unhappy squad members. Canavan was originally stated to be out for three weeks, which has just about elapsed. He's the one "injured" player we haven't had an update on, despite the fact he should be due back. It'll be interesting if he plays on Saturday.

 

If it's unhappy squad members, can anyone name me a player who isn't disgruntled about not being in the starting eleven or on the bench? If they aren't, they're not worth the bother.
