Christ we have a set of whinging bastards for fans don’t we.

why does everything have to get micro analysed word by word.

Sparks is rewarding their work this way. He doesn’t want them on the scrapheap if things don’t work out. He wants them to have the safety net of returning to the academy - that’s sensible.

stop whinging about nothing and get behind the club ffs.

I know Fordy gets some stick and usually justified but his question here is justified. We've waited till we are second from bottom of the entire league before some saw what has been the bleeding obvious for months. And now it's all hunky dory? Well excuse me for feeling just a little bit pissed off at how this club has been run for years. All the known it all and all that experience off the field yet its taken a lad with no CEO experience to make a bold decision to replace fundamentally flawed football manager that should never have been invited back in the first place and get better results with the u18 management team. That isn't a well run club, it's a shambles.

Totally agree, in the accounts that John Dewhirst released it was stated that Rupp had lent us 1.8 million interest free. Lawn lent us 1 million and charged us 9 % per annum and yet is treated like some hero on here whilst Rupp is reviled. Can I point out that from Lawn joining us in 2007 we had zero success until 2012/13 season. Five years of mediocrity and then the right manager was appointed. Rupp by his own admission doesn’t know anything about football so he appoints a CEO to do that job, he doesn’t need to be flying in from Germany or making statements that the fans who dislike him will describe as B.S anyway. From what I can gather he is regularly involved with the CEO but unlike Rahic does not undermine the staff or get involved in the football side of the business.

I'll tell you who is bluster and words! Some can never accept any positive news coming out of the club - to be honest Wetherby is a bit closer to what is happening than the rest of us on here so I for one am pleased to get some updates

Posted as such yesterday Border - why does everyone suddenly need 'clarity'? We have a couple of motivated and achieving young managers, a core team of players who are happy and 'up for it' again, a recruitment manager who is going to hopefully improve the squad and if at all possible move on some of the dead wood - and yet some on here burble on like politicians about every fine detail. And some of those who do were the advocates of keeping it simple when Stuart was doing his tinkering! Stop being so bloody negative and get behind them fellas

Are we sure it’s not someone putting a couple of Quid on a monkey being appointed?
We’ve got several donkeys in the team so maybe an animal appointment might be the way forward.

Spot on. He can't get over here due to travel restrictions / isolating and this has been the case since March. He is very much on the case however and I know he has been spending hours on the phone and other mediums with Ryan. Last week myself and another Associate Director had some meaningful contact with him, he is very much 'here'.

A narrow win against Grimsby and Cambridge does not warrant a permanent contract.

People are getting too carried away because we have been used to sh*te all season.

A couple of losses and everyone would be calling for someone with experience.

What is so hard to understand about the statement?

They are interim managers. They are doing a job while the board consider a long-term appointment.

These guys may earn the right to be that long term answer.

If Sparks had said they had the job until the end of the season/named them interim bosses or left them as caretakers, its all the same.

Just because many of us are older than Sparks doesn’t mean his statements have to be nit picked. Seems many love to stick the boot in and criticize at even the slightest thing. Absolutely nothing wrong with the statement this morning.

It would help if he now clarified the Turnbull situation, mind.

Good move for me good luck to the lads. Good to see two young blokes grabbing an opportunity by the balls. I've been so impressed by the way they've got the team behind them and how they've organised the team.

Don't get the negativity I guess some people are never happy does it really matter how Sparks phrased it. Credit where its due he appointed these guys and results/performances have drastically changed he's done his job. If he can't get the perm manager he wants then he shouldn't rush into anything and fair play to him for having the guts to stick with what he knows is the right thing to do. Looking forward to seeing what Turnbull brings with these guys and I dare say Conors dad will be helping out with advice too.

Not sure why some people are crying about the wording of the appointment, think Sparks has played it the right way. If things did go south and we'd committed to them til the end of the season then we'd be in a position where we'd need to go back on our word and essentially sack them to bring someone else in.

These lads still have a lot to prove after only 4 games in charge so is committing to giving them the full time job even if until the summer a sensible decision? Also if they're officially promoted to head coaches of the first team will they be happy being demoted back to academy coaches if things don't go as planned? they'll likely look for other management roles elsewhere if that's the case, with this appointment there's no promises and says that they haven't earned anything yet and still have a point to prove.

Temporary managers sometimes do well and then performances dip once they're made permanent once the pressures off, this approach keeps everyone on their toes as anything could happen. Good luck to Trueman and Sellars they've deserved this!

The existing pair are already in charge Tuesday so any appointment will have a watching brief only. That doesn't stop an appointment being made but not announced until after Grimsby to avoid minds wandering and focus on winning being lost.
Focus on 3 points is the aim, anything else is a distraction.

Its a clever move if you ask me, if results carry on they will be given a longer contract yet if results change they can rivert back to the academy. Either way they are at the club for the foreseeable future and rightly so.

We all know one defeat and the bash brigade will be out in force so this resembles a win win situation for Trueman and Sellars.

If Sol gets the job I'm done.

Can't stand the bloke. Always uses the fact he's black as the reason why he struggles to get management jobs, nothing to do with the fact he's just a shite manager of course.

He said something along the lines of: 'Bradford City supporters should moderate their ambitions' when he decided not to continue under Rahic. Either he knows something we don't or he's basing his opinion on what the club was like when he was here. Got the impression that he had an over inflated opinion of himself and his abilities. He's hardly set the football world on fire since he left Valley Parade. He probably needs to moderate his own ambitions now, because he looks like a yesterday's man as far as managing's concerned.

Wrong again Fordy, how tedious it must be for you.

PP leaving had nothing to do with facilities or vision, it was one factor and one alone - Rahic. I live near PP and see him from time to time, indeed 2 Sunderland Board Meeting were held in the office suite next to mine during the summer, we talk.
About two months after he left PP told me after his first meeting with Rahic he told his wife he thought the guy was going to be trouble. After his second meeting he decided Rahic was "..a certifiable nut job" and left, very fortunately to be immediately offered the Bolton job. We all know what followed.

So, Fordy, please check facts rather than speculating which worries me, especially when you apparently don't know the names of our current management team (your post 1254 I think on this thread), it's Conor not Connors.

And therein lies the extent of your understanding of how football and or decent size business works. You have this view that it's a charitable organisation and the sole benefactor of the charity should be the owner. Did Mark Lawn & Julian Rhodes ever inject more capital on any other basis than either a loan or get it back when selling ? No.

Rupp is into us for £5million. His job now is to make us self funding and spend within our means. He has no obligation or need, other than to perhaps protect his own investment, to put any more money into Bradford City.

When Arcadia was going bust did Philip Green contact their shareholders (mainly insurance companies/ pension funds) and ask for a sub ? Rupp has no obligation to put another penny into this club, he's a business man not a philanthropist and the days of local business owners propping up ailing football clubs are gone.

We should be thankful he has covered whatever shortfalls we have had during the pandemic and we haven't ended up in administration and trust him to sort out the mess Rahic created, even if he is responsible due to sleeping on the job. If capital investment is needed it has to come from increased revenue streams, cost cutting or not be done at all.

You witter on about not owning the training ground. Rawdon Meadows is actually pretty good when not flooded, and far better than a lot of other clubs have. The pavilion, which we have full use of is top notch and the bonus of using it is we have very little cost for a lot of benefit. We don't have the cash to buy our own and as I've said above, Rupp has no obligation to provide one.

There was an interesting interview with Sellars on Radio Leeds last night about 6.15pm. He was saying how they have shared responsibility and one of them has concentrated on the coaching of the team when in possession of the ball and the other one when not in possession. Interesting insight, they both seem to complement each other equally and they are both very articulate.
