If I were a betting man, I would say Grimsby will hi-jack Hurst due to our tardiness and announce him before 5pm today.

There was an interesting interview with Sellars on Radio Leeds last night about 6.15pm. He was saying how they have shared responsibility and one of them has concentrated on the coaching of the team when in possession of the ball and the other one when not in possession. Interesting insight, they both seem to complement each other equally and they are both very articulate.

My note of caution would be the nature of the goals we have scored. 3 out of the 4 have been beauties.

We're not going to score goals like that week in/week out.

Sometimes great goals can paper over the cracks because they aren't going to happen that often in the long run.

They've definitely made us harder to beat. I do worry long term about where the goals will come from, with this set up.

Novak won't score another like that for the rest of his career.

I was intrigued when Connor said he'd talked to his old man who offered some insights. Wonder what he said about our setup and style of play!

I would argue that the goals have come about BECAUSE of the set up and the positive way the players are approaching games with seeming freedom to express themselves in their natural roles. Nothing to be worried about at all in fact the exact opposite.

When we score off someones backside or as a result of a defensive howler or a pen we still have a goalscoring problem because they don't really count. Now it seems scoring beauties don't count neither. I suppose we will always have goalscoring problems if we only count those that fit a specific criteria.

I think this is a pretty good point, although not necessarily a bad one. I am not calling T&S lucky in the slightest because they have certainly set us up better and we look a competitive team, but maybe the footballing God's have been shining on them so far.

Still it is the proverbial 'you have to buy a ticket to win the lottery' and we certainly seem to have more of an intent to pull the trigger than under McCall and they do say you make your own luck.

They have given the powers that be a tough choice to make, but surely that puts us in a far better position than a fortnight ago.

I am just pleased that we have not rushed in to an appointment, but likewise I do not think we should make a kneejerk decision based on our upturn in form.

According to Tyneside's leaking tap Hurst has already signed though.

Reading between lines of local media I believed today was set up to announce manager and backroom staff.
Maybe I'm incorrect in the assumption.
However, Trueman and Sellers have created a dilemma in their immediate success.
Did Sparks and any one else connected to the club expect such an immediate turnaround in form.
I suspect in their pursuit of a new manager, that time was of the essence.

The duo come across very well in interview, and demonstrate good knowledge and sense in what they say.

Has a second telephone call gone out to the incumbent manager telling him, the club need more time to assess the situation.
Has 7 points from 9 now thrown a new short-termism into the fray and now Sparks is seriously thinking of giving T&C until the end of the season.
Has the critical importance of loosening the purse-strings to replace non-functioning players, now sitting a bit deeper in the clubs coffers, as it seems maybe only a couple of new players now maybe required.

Listening to Evans on Radio Leeds last night, he gave the impression the squad are more than happy with the new team in charge.

Strange times in the imminent future coming up, I watch with great interest.

Sparks may come out of this with a great deal of credit.
His first main and probably most important challenge

Nah not for me. Sparks isn't that weak.

If he wanted x then x will be manager no matter what the players, fans or Trueman is saying.

Sparks also knows as a 29 year old that Trueman lacks experience and McCall was crap. For a long term plan we don't have the support Trueman needs.

    Probably

However, young managers aren't unheard of.

Graham Taylor was 28 when he took over Lincoln

The caretaker guys have done fantastic, but Hurst seems like the appointment we need to move the club forward.

Give them better contracts on the back of this, and get Hurst in as manager ASAP.

    Graham Taylor?? Different times mate.

Nothing wrong with young managers but you have to have the set up to support them and Sparks is a novice himself.

It would be a massive risk.
