Not for me. Hurst has to bring in his own team.

Trueman and Sellers can stay in their own jobs. If Sparks wants Trueman as manager then hire him as manager.

The more I’m reading about Hurst the more I’m coming round to the thought that this is a good appointment. There does appear to be other reasons around his ‘failures’ at Ipswich and Scunthorpe. I remember his Shrews team as being big & strong, but with some width up top - if he brings that to us then I will be more than happy.

The appointment is a legacy, and if it is Hurst then we should be following that style of football for the next decade.

Time to stop talking and create a footballing identity on the pitch.

I agree. Think this has to be the way now. Someone who works with the new head of recruitment? it may take Hurst some time to get going as his style is wingers, big target men etc. Not sure we are set up for that.
Seems our defence needs improving but isn’t as bad as McCall had it set up so we have a chance there.

Got to agree with this. There was no way we were ever going to temp the likes of Lowe or Flynn here, no matter how much we as fans wanted them. They're both managers that have only had success in their careers so understandably they were never going to risk their reputations with a club that has been a basket case in recent years. Hurst is the best option out of the free agents that are available given his record as you say.

And therein lies the extent of your understanding of how football and or decent size business works. You have this view that it's a charitable organisation and the sole benefactor of the charity should be the owner. Did Mark Lawn & Julian Rhodes ever inject more capital on any other basis than either a loan or get it back when selling ? No.

Rupp is into us for £5million. His job now is to make us self funding and spend within our means. He has no obligation or need, other than to perhaps protect his own investment, to put any more money into Bradford City.

When Arcadia was going bust did Philip Green contact their shareholders (mainly insurance companies/ pension funds) and ask for a sub ? Rupp has no obligation to put another penny into this club, he's a business man not a philanthropist and the days of local business owners propping up ailing football clubs are gone.

We should be thankful he has covered whatever shortfalls we have had during the pandemic and we haven't ended up in administration and trust him to sort out the mess Rahic created, even if he is responsible due to sleeping on the job. If capital investment is needed it has to come from increased revenue streams, cost cutting or not be done at all.

You witter on about not owning the training ground. Rawdon Meadows is actually pretty good when not flooded, and far better than a lot of other clubs have. The pavilion, which we have full use of is top notch and the bonus of using it is we have very little cost for a lot of benefit. We don't have the cash to buy our own and as I've said above, Rupp has no obligation to provide one.

I'll really to this nonsense later. Utter nonsense.

I've to go into a meeting. Can't be dealing with fans that have no drive today.

Hurst could be the man, he has had some good successes.

Still not given up on a late surge to the playoffs, we’ve done it before, this league is poor quality and is wide open.

In my opinion Rupp isn’t the problem, his choice of football ‘experts’ has been the problem, personally I feel like we are now over the worst and will start to move in the right direction again with our new ceo and manager and a new feeling of optimism.

Rupp has put good money into this club , but it has been squandered.

Give him a break. Be realistic about where we go from here and how we go about it.

Money continues to come in for Trueman? Is @Idlebantam@Idlebantam correct in that we are wary of the season finishing early again?

I'm not convinced about Hurst either. Like I said before Trueman/Sellers until the of the season with Terry Dolan helping/advising with any January comings and goings, that is if he is available.

    But that's the same thing.

I can't buy a restaurant and put a crap head chef in and watch him employ a crap team and say 'yeah, but it's not my fault' and expect customers to be happy simply because I continue to fund it without shutting it down.

I don't know anything about running a restaurant - therefore my ability as an owner is judged on who I employ and how they run the business and how the customers enjoy eating there.

If it fails, it's all my fault and I was a piss poor owner.

One way bets don’t count you put down the gauntlet now pay up.

How can you compare us to Leicester?!? LOL! Premier league champions, constantly top end of PL sold some top class players for BIG MONEY and Billionaire owners. Come on pal get real with it were in league two! If we do go up and slowly improve financially Im sure all that will be improve in these aspects.

Prime example Bournemouth a shithouse Stadium in premier league they didn't rush to build a new one. Everything is timing.

I have to admit I was pretty underwhelmed when I first saw that Hurst was favourite. But the more I've looked at it, the more it looks like it would be a sensible appointment. Hurst's career has interesting similarities to the last decent manager with no ties to the club that we appointed in Parky. Again we have someone who saw impressive success and was seen to have a big future but maybe took the wrong jump at the wrong time which resulted in a major blot on his record. But that results in someone having a bit of a point to prove rather than just another relic who thinks he knows it all like a Simon Grayson.

But that similarity isn't really why I think it could be the right appointment. Obviously the first objective for the new manager is to guide the club to safety and Hurst has experience of that in his time at Shrewsbury where he led an impressive recovery to avoid relegation in L1. He is also someone that won't need any time to adjust to L2 like maybe Woodgate would've had to.

Presuming that Hurst can lead the club to safety, the next task is to build something up. Again he has impressive history of this at Grimsby and Shrewsbury. I'm not really sure what happened at Scunthorpe, but from what I've read, progress was also being made there albeit slowly. Hurst also appears to fit into a few categories that suit the club's current circumstances such as being adept within the U23 and loan market and working with the rumoured new recruitment lead before. As well as having a settled relationship with an assistant (Chris Doig), these are all signs that Hurst could be what we need at this point in time.

I doubt it. Hurst now 1/5. Trueman and Sellers have done themselves no harm at all, but for a change I’d like the club to take a long term view. Let them continue the good work they’re doing with the youth side, working with the new manager to create a clear path to the first team, developing as coaches and perhaps ready to replace Hurst a few years down the line. Succession planning, planning over the long term for a change.

If so, we haven't learn't from appointing Collins have we?

This job requires someone who knows this standard of football. Can recruit not only good but the right players in January, I personally don't think they can bring that.
