He sounded shit scared to be honest...I worked for a FTSE 100 Bank for 30 years and if any Department Head, in charge of 50 people, had spoken like that I'd have been worried!!

Rather than a Q&A wouldn't it have been better to have come prepared with a 5 year plan ready to set out as part of the statement, this is my vision, this is my plan, I need you the supporters to get behind us, this is what you can do, this is what we are going to do.......that's what leaders normally do. A rallying call...

    Doesn't fill me with confidence.

Thanks for posting this link. Ryan comes across well and now there is a vision for the future. As nothing can be done about the past , hopefully they have learnt from mistakes.

Very impressed with the probing questions from Jamie Raynor. His style is a breath of fresh air compared with previous local radio presenters.

I equally don't understand this preoccuption with FTSE 100 companies. They are each worth many billions, many have turnovers expressed in the billions and profits in the hundreds of millions and beyond. Most operate in global markets. The quality of their executives reflects all of this as do the executive's packages.

It may come as a surprise to some but City doesn't come anywhere close to being a FTSE 100 company! Our turnover is £5-6mill, we only make a profit in the good years when we have an unexpected windfall, we operate in little more than a backwater and the value of our club is, well, next to zilch. And that also is reflected in the quality of the club's CEO.

I'd have preferred to have heard more from Sparks about the substance of his plans for the club and not just well articulated words. I hope we do hear something about his own vision and his plans for the club in the not too distant future. Unfortunately, having learned his trade, such as it is, at the feet of JR to date, I might be expecting too much!

    It looks like Sparks has been lined up for this job for a while as he was attending meetings representing the club when the league formulated plans for the new season. I thus have two worries;

    1) we were wet behind the ears when it came to the transfer cap. The likes of Salford and Bolton did their business early and got players in on the 1.3k pw rate, not their true (higher) wages.

This has hamstrung the club as we didn’t land many of our supposed targets. Anyone other than Watt? We’ve taken the easy route scouting wise and resigned players we are familiar with and made a few panic loans to fill up numbers already swollen by making several youth lads seniors. It’s all been done laissez faire, on the cheap.

Had McCall even heard of Samuels before we played Wolves in the Pizza Trophy?

    2) Sparks said James Vaughan wouldn’t leave without the club receiving ‘significant compensation’. A few weeks later he left on a free.

Doesn’t inspire much confidence that he’s running the show now and responsible for transfer dealings.

I don’t doubt he’s hardworking, passionate and enthusiastic. But this is a baptism of fire and he’s been chucked under a bus by Rupp and Rhodes.

For a club that voted against the salary cap and with an owner worth over a hundred million, it is actually laughable we are supposedly not in a position to pay up to 50k on a DOF.

Was mentioned to us on TCA months ago mate, has a soft spot for us ever since we played Swansea in the cup final. Sees us as having potential for some reason. Possible interest in buying but price was completely unrealistic. Didn't hear anything about it since so assumed the interest had gone.

    No idea.

He was Swansea's owner throughout that period. He was very hands-on developing their particular style of football, recruiting only managers who bought into his vision and recruiting players and developing them who could play the Swansea way. It was very successful for the Swans. It's the kind of approach we've never had to my memory.

You could pick up Wigan Athletic with a modern ground for way less than that at the moment. And thats in league 1. He paid over the odds for it in the first place for a club that was punching above its weight in terms of competing financially and had reached as far as it could go without major investment.

If he saw the reactions of city fans to their team losing - that might have been something to do with it. For me that made me proud and showed what it is about supporting your team - even when losing heavily but appreciating what an achievement- it was - a Div 2 team playing at Wembley in a major cup final. Roy of the Rovers stuff.

Of course Stefan says he's right behind the club, otherwise he weakens his own bargaining position. That's what good business men do.

It would be a proper gauge to how much the fans valued the club. Depends on the price structure upto getting to the championship, if we leave ticket prices at £150 and get promoted from league 1 with that then its a 100% price rise. That would make a lot of people think twice.Yet its low end prices for the championship at £300. Always a problem when most of your fan base thinks £150 is the norm when it clearly is a one off amongst evrything else.

If there is something in it, could that be the reason why our transfer activity has been so limited?

We did, you’re right. But Jenkins is much more of a known entity, with a proven record.

Swansea's half the size of Bradford, in terms of population. Although, I don't know if it's an accurate comparison because of the sprawling nature of the greater BDMC district. But it's also pretty much a captive audience, unlikely that the vast majority of Swansea Jacks will be travelling to Cardiff to watch football. Whilst our fair City is easily within reach of a hell of a lot of live football options. With most of them of a higher standard than the fare on offer down at Valley Parade. In some respects, I think City do well to draw the attendances that they do, irrespective of the cost of tickets.

Jenkins' Wiki page mentions that he was interested in Charlton when they were having major problems with the club's previous owner. So perhaps he's interested in borderline 'basket case' clubs with the potential to grow both on and off the pitch?

I, for one, welcome our potentially new leek loving overlords!

Very nearly choked on my honey nut cornflakes reading that! Thought the Mrs was going to need to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre on me [she'd probably have checked the life insurance policy whilst I was turning blue though].

Is that your very own sobriquet for Sullivan and Gold or one employed by most Hammers fans?
