I’ve not heard that one and neither has my mate on the inside, however, they are very definitely looking for help.

As for Jewell. It’s gone very quiet. I noted in Stuart’s interview with radio Leeds that City weren’t in a position to offer 30, 40, 50 grand on a director of football. I think you can draw a conclusion why the Jewell link seems to have all gone quiet. Also telling that he then mentioned that Paul Jewell was a successful manager at Bradford and Wigan. I suppose Jewell would be on his mind if he’s been having numerous phone calls with him in the previous few days......

Id heard we’d approached someone from another club and it has gone quiet as you say. Asked and got that name Lawrence but the info is very 50/50 anyway so not sure what to make of it so thought I’d ask on here.
As @Mike Hunt@Mike Hunt has said he is at Stevenage and only signed on after covid lockdown so we would need to pay compo and wages? Surely he can’t be on tonnes at Stevenage though?

I am not dead against him if it is him. Did very well with Flynn at Newport. At first you could see his side was built in a Lawrence mould. Strong powerful and good at set pieces. They slowly went away from that once they weren’t flirting with relegation any more and now look a very good side.
Something similar here would be good for maybe 18 months? Make us hard to beat as McCall clearly can’t and then move onto a better style when we have the foundations

How bad is it when you need to spend money because your manager needs help to do his job instead of getting a proper manager to just replace him

Given his experience in the game, and his positive recent work at Newport, Lennie Lawrence would be exactly the type of person we should be looking to bring in on the football side. He must be knocking on a bit now though.

If it is him, given the way we go about things, I can only assume someone has found a number that was written down for him on some old records in a cupboard at VP or something.

Not about making us hard to beat. It's about having an identity on the pitch no matter if we win, lose or draw.

Bradford City are shambles on the pitch at the moment and nobody knows what is going on.

I've been calling for a Sporting Director for ages because if any club needs one its Bradford City but now McCall and Sparks have got what they want I am not convinced this will happen.

Has Lennie Lawrence been in charge of recruitment this summer for Stevenage? If so, he looks to have done an even worse job of it than we have.

If reckon we need to bring in an additional employee to do the recruitment so we look like we know what we are doing in building a team.

Then, we could get an additional employee to do the coaching so that we look like an actual organised group of players.

Then we could get another employee to train the players so they actually look fit and like they could walk around the block without pulling something.

Basically, if we take all the managers responsibilities away we might have a chance.

The importance of a successfull January transfer window is clearly now essential to how this season is going to end up.
With 3 of the top 7 sides coming up in the next few weeks on current form we are going to be scratching around for point here and there. I may be inclined to

    sctraching around
The stakes and implications of relegation are that high £50k is money well spent if it improves our January window dealings. Irrespective of the expectations and scope of Stuart's role he needs help at the moment. I suspect he won't take it in terms of the day to day management of the squad so someone needs to sort out and take responsibility for the window and get what we need.

I had a look on Google at Lennie Lawrence as I thought he must be about 80 by now. Surprised he was only 72! When he joined City in 1994 he was 46, yet he looked more like mid-50’s even back then, thus my assumption he must be about 80.

But then a recent pic I saw he still looks the same as when he was at City. Just one of them blokes that has always just looked mid-50’s even as a teenager.

Well if I was putting 2+2 together you may come to the conclusion that City have offered him £30k but he wants £50k.

I also suspect that City thought he may come back out of loyalty to the club rather than for money. Jewell is a millionaire, but isn’t going to work for peanuts or for charity.

Let’s put it this way, on Wednesday I heard they very definitely thought Jewell was going to agree to come back. By Thursday something had changed.

The only way Lennie Lawrence can help us is by staying st Stevenage and ensuring they finish below us.

We all need to stop panicking, at least three clubs in league two will be in administration by xmas and we will soon be mid table even with mo e tra points.

First and foremost we have to be hard to beat otherwise we will go down with this squad. No two ways about it. Survival is now the prime aim. We are nearly to December and well into season and with every game we slip nearer the trap door.
Hard to beat is aim first then move onto a style when we have a foundation

    No, that would be irrelevant.

I reckon Swindon have moved heaven and earth to persuade him to stay and City have baulked at his wage demands.

Somebody will be coming in in some kind of capacity. From what I was told it was Stuart that is pushing for it to happen.

Wishful thinking. I think the package from the premier league will come before clubs go into admin

    Yeah if its his mate.

Too many dancers at this club..We need to start getting the best people for the job but with Rupp not caring its not going to happen.

If we want Jewell then we should move heaven and earth to get him.

For a club that voted against the salary cap and with an owner worth over a hundred million, it is actually laughable we are supposedly not in a position to pay up to 50k on a DOF.

Jewell could be McCalls big stick in the dressing room.
Being too matety with the players isn't right especially
with this lot.Remember half time talk during Sunderland
promotion game and he laid into Robbie Blake big time!
